Android : How To Connect To MS Exchange?
Apr 22, 2010
I'm trying to connect to Exchange server to obtain some appointments data. I googled the whole stuff and could not find some useful examples. I would appreciate it if someone give me or point me to some examples(code snippets are preferred).

I came from Blackberry to EVO. Blackberry had the Blackberry Enterprise Server, which is equivalent to the Exchange ActiveSync Server. BES was an extra $30/month. Does EAS cost extra per month, too?Is EAS something I can just configure once I figure out the right information for the domain and everything? Or is this something that actually HAS to be supported by my company in order for it to physically work. Like BES was.

I was looking to see if it would be possible to get a little more out of my HTC Magic.
1. Is it possible, or is there an app that would allow me to connect to MS Exchange for email? I only need the mails, rather than calendar and contacts.
2. Can I tether with this phone? I use an Apple MacBook Pro that has both Bluetooth and USB connections.
3. Is there an app that would allow me to send files via Bluetoth?

I have a Galaxy S and I am trying to connect to my office exchange server. When I set up the account everything appears to go well but then I get a modal window telling me to visit orange.seven.com.I've visited that page and it is empty. The same thing happens when I try to connect to a hotmail account and a Google account using the blue Google icon (rather than the default black one). Has anyone managed to get an exchange or hotmail account successfully set up?

I've been reading the forums for a bit but I haven't found an answer yet...
I got with our Exchange administrator today to setup my phone using ActiveSync. We just recently started supporting devices that use ActiveSync. To my knowledge the only type of phone we have successfully used with ActiveSync is a Palm Pre.
I go into AvtiveSync manual setup and specify all the settings according to our systems and we require SSL. However as soon as I press next I immediately get "Cannot connect to the Exchange Server"
I have data access and I can access our OWA website using the browser (although I can't seem to log in - I get a bad user name/password error)
I have been provided the godaddy certificates by my Network Admin, but I don't know how to import them. I have them on the internal SD card.
I also don't have any spaces in the user name and I've tripled checked all the typing on the settings. Am I missing something?

Like many other people, I have the issue where I cannot connect to my exchange e-mail because of security settings. I was able to resolve the issue the first time by using Lockpicker. I had to reset my phone, root, and install fresh rom again. Now I am trying to use lockpicker again, but it doesn't work anymore. I have tried everything I can think of and have searched extensively. Touchdown can connect, but there is no way I am paying for that when I was able to get the stock email app working the first time.

I have a co-worker who suddenly can not connect to her Exchange account via her phone. It mysteriously stopped syncing emails on Dec. 5, and since then the phone can not connect to the server. Error message reported is "Unable to connect to server." I even completely deleted the Exchange account from the phone and attempted to re-add it, but adding a new account failed with the same error message.
The weird thing is that the account worked perfectly fine before Dec. 5, and we can't think of anything that changed on the phone or on the server at that time. Meanwhile, other Android phones in our workplace continue to receive messages from the Exchange server, including my own Nexus 4 with the exact same server settings and another co-worker's Droid Razr.
The problem phone is a Samsung Galaxy S on US Cellular, running Android 2.3.6.

I've experienced quite a lot of problems with the WiFi after updating the Andriod. Everytime I try to connect to my home-network i get that it failed to connect.
The phone didn't have any problems with this before the update.
Anyone had the same kind of problem, or anyone that has a smart fix for it?

Iam connecting 3G phone for my Android device for internet connection and another Socket(SPP) for CAN signal receiving.Whenever I manually connect to the Bluetooth tethering via 3G phone, i can browse internet perfectly and speed is good.Whenever programmatically connect to the 3G connection, i couldn't browse internet.i checked in shell and observing that in my mobile 'device is connected' message displayed and E symbol appears. No problem for me to connect Socket. But I got problem to use 3G phone. For this iam using APN/DUN mode.I checked both but no use.Is there any performance issue here or anything wrong to connect different devices by using Bluetooth API in android. Why this happends while connecting Mobile programmatically.

I have the HTC Droid Eris. Before the 2.1 update, I just had Facebook sync, but afterwards, it was synced with Facebook for HTC Sense. My problem is that it won't let me sync with just Facebook.I still want my contacts to sync with my phone, because I like the facebook pictures on there. Personally, I like Facebook sync better, because I don't like having all my Facebook contacts on my phone, because the numbers show up twice (number that I have on my phone plus the number that my friends have on Facebook). To prevent that from happening, I would rather have my phone connected to Facebook only and not Facebook for HTC Sense.I thought I could do it, but it won't let me even click on Facebook--like, nothing pops up or anything.I wasn't sure if it was my phone, so I took my dad's Eris and tried to do the same, it works fine on his phone, but I can't get mine to do sync with facebook whatsoever. Thank you very much.

ActiveSync has been working just fine with our Exchange Server 2007 for the past 6 months. However, today we updated from 2007 to 2010 server and the server address changed from exchange.xxxx.com to remote.xxxx.com and I cannot figure out how to change this on the settings. The only thing that it will allow me to edit is the password. I press on the server address and it will not do anything. I have deleted the account on my phone and re-entered it hoping that it will let me edit manually. I get the error message, "Your microsoft exchange server account does not have permission to synchronize with your current settings. Contact your exchange server admin". I made sure the spelling is correct and our Admin is well, not up to the challenge.

I just got my first Android phone, a Motorola Milestone with Telus. I use Exchange 2007 and setup activesync with the builtin email client and it works great, however, the view is one folder at a time. I have many rules setup to move emails from specific sources to specific folders since I receive a lot of email in a day from many different clients and vendors. The problem I see is that I have to manually switch from one folder to another and hit refresh to see new emails in the subfolders.

I apologize if this is posted elsewhere but i searched the forum and couldnt find it. If it is, please just post the link to it and I will go there. I have heard great things about the K-9 Mail application but cant get it working...I have used the standard email app to connect to our corporate Exchange 2007 server without issue. It syncs, mail, contacts, calendar no problem. I walk through the K-9 Setup (i have tried the Market version as well as several BETA versions, doesn't seem to be a difference) and continually get Errors in the errors folder and nothing in the Inbox. I have tried several different options on the incoming mail setup information for the exhcange server info but nothing seems to work. I am wondering if there is a sample guide for setting up K-9 with Exchange?

I've been on tier 2 support with Motorola, Verizon, and my IT staff - no one can figure this one out.
My droid 2 is synced with exchange in all matters. but, it only syncs 430 of my 3000 contacts.
I've reset the phone a couple times, checked all the settings on the phone and the exchange server. have no clue how to fix it.

I would really love to have access to my work email without needing access to OWA (like Touchdown). I believe the iPhone has this capability, unless their method does in fact rely on OWA. Why can't it be done for Android? My IT department simply refuses to give access to OWA without being in the VPN, so that ruins Touchdown for me.

I had been recommended Active Sync to sync with Outlook but now i find that it's for syncing with Outlook Exchange. (i'm using plain vanilla Outlook, no Exchange). i happen to run all email via a gmail account for backup, spam filtering, emergencies when I don't have my laptop) so syncing email is not an issue.

In our exchange environment our users are required to change their passwords every six weeks. If they use Droids to get their email will they have to change the password in the account settings every time they change their password? Is there any way around this other than making their passwords never expire?

I notice my exchange email account does not allow folder sync other than the inbox. I see an app called Touchdown, but it appears to be a demo unless you shell out the cash for the app. Am I missing anything or is this the only avenue to get full exchange support?

I succeeded in setting up exchange email on my nexus one.The things that bothers me a bit is that I can only select to sync emails from the last week/month/etc.In some cases I want to look at an old email to perform my work. It's great how with IMAP email you can scroll down and just press a button to read more emails. Is there anything similar for exchange? Or at least some workaround?

I have a HTC dream with Rogers. After reading several posts I finally got to connect to my companies exchange server. When first connecting it showed synching email, contacts and calendar. Problem is that I see the emails and can answer no problem. But how do I access my exchange calender? Also when composing new mail or forwarding I don't have the company contacts available through exchange, I only have the contacts on my phone which comes from gmail. Is this normal? We are on exchange 2007

I set up an exchange activeync account on my new HTC desire. I encounter a strange behaviour with it. After synchronizing it shows only few folders from my mail box (around 5) where i got around 50. I tried to delete the account and recreate it -> no change I give a try to Touchdown app, and it retrieve all folders. I don't want to use another app than the one given with my HTC, so here is why I post this topic.

I'm trying to find out the Hotmail Exchange server setting in the hope that it will start working prior to the official rollout. I know they started the wave 4 rollout today. They've said it will be rolled out in pieces and isn't due to finish until August but they don't give any idea to who will get which features when. So if you find out the exchange setting for Hotmail / Windows Live Mail post them here.

At work, I have direct access to the Exchange server which I can synchronize with my HTC Android 2.1 without problems. At home I only have access to the Outlook Web Access webmail (which I can't access at work). Can I disable Exchange synchronization when I'm not connected to a certain WLAN? Also, as a bonus, would it be able for the Android to synchronize with the Outlook Web Access (like Evolution does in Ubuntu)?

I am trying to get my head around setting up email from Exchange 2003 SP2 in Android 2.1 (HTC Desire) but have some issues which point to lack of understanding (or faulty wetware). I wondered if anyone could help me out with this?
I can connect to our exchange server while I am in range of our internal WiFi hotspots. But as soon as I turn off WiFi or exit the building the connection fails. I am struggling to understand how this works when you are not near an internal WiFi spot. We use blackberry devices and they can get mail from anywhere in the world so how does the Android equivalent work?
There are a good many suggestions that you point your connection to whatever you use for OWA, but we do not expose our Exchange server to the outside world directly, but rather via a Juniper box. What I don't understand is that is the Blackberry users can connect using an internal BES server - so this has to work.
