Sprint HTC Hero :: Check For Updates Does Nothing?

Feb 1, 2010

I know there isn't a firmware update but for the past 2 days when I go in and check for Firmware updates it says "checking for Firmware update" then it just dissapears, it no longer comes back with "No update available". Anyone else having this problem? I powercycled and pulled the battery and it still does this. It also fails updating my profile and fails updating the PRL. All other data features work just fine.

HTC Droid Eris :: When Do Apps Check For Updates?

Jan 16, 2010

This morning I power cycled my Eris for for first time in a week or so. After that, the notificaton area said I have four updates waiting.I think I selected the "My Tracks" app for update, but when I did, it told me to make sure I had at least 40% battery charge, the phone would be unusable during the update, etc., and it proceeded to install the OTA update to build 1.17.605.1.That's fine, but now the phone doesn't show any apps with available updates. Will these apps automatically notify me again that updates are available? Do all apps routinely check?

General :: Forcing Market To Check For App Updates?

Feb 11, 2012

One thing I noticed with the market is it seems to periodically check for updates, but it doesn't seem to check that often. It seems like the Market application waits for a group of apps to get updated at once before it notifies you, or it seems to only check for updates on a certain day where app updates are rolled out onto the Android market (similar to PSN/XBL updates)

how to force the Market application to check for updates to my apps? I was thinking maybe going to the Market app in the system settings and clearing cache/data, but I was wondering if there's some other way to do it.

Motorola Droid :: Manually Check For Updates For Apps

Dec 1, 2009

I went into the notification bar to see I had two updates for apps that I have. However only a second or two after the notification window was up it suddenly disappeared and kicked me back to my home screen. When I returned to the notification window the app update notifications were no longer there. Is there a way that I can make my Droid go check for updates again?

Motorola Droid :: Can I Download Updates Automatically

Dec 22, 2009

I always like to have all my apps updated to the latest release and because of this I go to the Market->Downloads and checks for available updates about four times a day. Usually there's always updates sitting there. The hassle is when there's so many to go through them all and and install them.

Is there any app out there that can go through and constantly check for updates and install them automatically?

If not then I'm hoping someone can make one. It seems like a pretty simple thing to make. Then again I'm not a Dev so what do I know?

Motorola Droid X :: Cant Get Email To Check Automatically

Jul 16, 2010

I just upgraded from the Droid to the Droid X and am now having a problem. The email I receive through gmail works fine with emails arriving automatically and the notification settings working. The problem is with the regular email program that comes with the phone and my Yahoo account. Even though I believe I have it set up to automatically check email and to receive notification when it arrives, I only get new email when I manually open the app.

HTC Droid Eris :: Phone Doesn't Automatically Check For Emails

Dec 7, 2009

How do you make it so the phone doesn't automatically check for emails? I get so few that it would be better for me to be able to simply do a "manual" check when I want, rather than have the phone check all the time. Besides, I don't NEED to be notified every time I get an email since most are crap anyway.

I just dont know if its connected though but after doing so, after sometime my Messaging system prompts me up a message saying that there was an error (android.system.mms) and it needs to fore close and then after that all of my messages were automatically deleted including the message updates in the splines. I already went to the Service Center and the only thing they told me was it will be okay once I have updated to the new version which is the 2.1.

HTC Hero :: Enabling GPS Satellites - To Check Or Not To Check

Nov 6, 2009

Menu - Settings - Location - Enable GPS satellites

It states that enabling this will "require more battery plus view of sky"

When checked, it states "deselect to conserve battery"

So, the question is, should this be enabled?

I imagine for some applications, knowing your precise location should be useful, especially if the turn-by-turn maps are installed and used.

I'm thinking to deselect this, and selecting it at times when I need it.

So, to check or not to check?

In addition to the new tools and platforms, there's one other important change that I wanted to point out. We've added additional clarification to the docs about android:maxSdkVersion and what effects it might have on your app if you use it. You can see these details here: [url]

Android : Slow GPS Updates

Aug 9, 2009

I am developing a small app that works as a speedometer with a build in histogram.

But it is quite unresponsive, I test it by driving in my car, and when i go from 80 to 0 it takes about 4-6 seconds before my needle is updated.

For simple outlier removal, i use a 1x3 median filter on my estimated speed the speed. Wich obviously will give me a delay one 1 sample.

******* Here's the real question :) ****** I thought i might get updates every second, and thus a delay of 2 seconds, wich wouldn't be to bad. but is GPS really that slow? or am i doing something completely wrong? *******

I have registrered a listener like so:

CODE:..............

To have a steady update of my speedometer, I use a timerTask to poll the listener for the last estimated result, and updates my speedometer view.

CODE:............

And the run method of my task:

CODE:.....................
