View 9 RepliesVoice Search is new with RC33. I am wondering if the voice recognition will be part of the API 1.1. Or at least an Intent? Btw, is the SDK 1.1 JavaDoc available somewhere yet?

The other thing as well I dont understand the lack of a Compass? No Orientation of Google Maps they did it with the new Iphone why not with Android?? we have a Compass.Bad Google! did they only give the USA the Search VIA Voice? Other then the 2 points I listed this app is great!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've seen an app that can launch voice search from the BT headset, but it still uses the phone's mic. It would be great if the voice dialer could be completely replaced with the much more functional new Voice Search. If you agree, please vote over at google for this feature: Issue 8973 - android - Add voice search over bluetooth, similar to voice dialer in 2.2 - Project Hosting on Google Code
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have the Droid with it's car mount and everything, but I am driving 1200 miles in a couple months, and wanted to know if there is a music application that allows me to hit a button, and say the name of the song/band/ album, etc, and have it play that? For example, I hit a button, say "Pendulum (Pause) Witchcraft" and it'l ask me, did you mean this? Basically, contact voice search, but with music.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm aware that the home key cannot be caught, and I'm worried that a long-press on the Search key is another "Android-OS protected" key press. Just for testing, I tried to catch all keys with this code within my Activity, but it does not stop the Google Voice Search dialog from being triggered
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhats everyones take on both these applications? I've just started using the new google voice actions and think its amazing, and actually interprets my speech quite well! Voice actions I think provide a bit more robust actions over vlingo, as they can be used to get directions, navigate you somewhere, call certain businesses etc.
I do like the idea of Vlingo's, text to speech, reading who's calling you or a new email or message. I use handcent and that has text to speech although its extremely quiet even if i turn it up completely. I also can't understand it most of the time as it speaks too fast in its funny computer voice!
Another plus, Vlingo is now FREE! I haven't downloaded it yet as I'm just enjoying Googles new voice actions, but I would be interested in a comparison with accuracy and speed in both these applications!
I already downloaded the latest voice search app on my nexus one. I can perform some of the voice actions like calling, navigating, maps and internet search, but I can't seem to add alarm, send text message/email, note to self, call businesses or even set alarm. Instead the results give me either google search or voice dialing. Are some of the functions blocked here? Also I noticed in the official guide video the help screen had more options than mine. Is my voice search a more toned down version because I'm in a different region?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've loaded both Vlingo and the new Google Voice search on my Droid X with the leaked Froyo OS and Vlingo is significantly superior. Vlingo typically nails the request the first time while Voice Search isn't even close most of the times. Voice search is particularly weak with my contacts which are saved Last, First. While it may behave decently searching for "Jones Bob" it fails dismally when searching for "Bob Jones". Vlingo executes flawlessly with either.

View 17 Replies View RelatedOne of the great features of the the 4th soft button is to hold it down to bring up the voice search prompt. A this prompt there are several commands that are extremely helpful, such as: "Navigate to <place>" opens Google Navigation and gives you directions to <place> "Call <contact> work/home/etc" will call that contact. (Is there a way to set a default so that you can just say "Call <contact>" and it automatically calls that person's cell/home/work?) "Locate.../Map of.../Find..." will all open and search google maps.
"Driections to <place>" will open google maps and give you directions to <place> "Look up <place/thing/etc>" will do a google search
I know there a few people like me (in Canada) that don't have access to the voice search apk that is free in market (the one allows you to use the microphone icon in the search widget).
I found it on an app developer site and now I don't remember where I saw it but I did save the apk file
I just flashed fresh 1.0.1 and reinstalled navigator but, voice search doesn't work. also holding down the search soft button does not bring up voice search. anyone have a fix?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've tried using it to send a text, but all that happens is it does a Google web search for whatever I said. I have my language set for US English, not sure what else to do.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo Voice Search appeared in the market and I decided to try it out. However it never gets anything right and it's embarrassing to use in public and pretty useless, and it uses about 2.6MB of the tiny internal storage of the phone. So I tried removing it, but it doesn't even seem to be possible. There's just an option to remove updates. Do I have to wipe the phone completely to get rid of it?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI feel like a noob with this. Is there a command you can say that activates Voice search? I keep seeing people say they use Voice search and find stuff without even having to hit a button? I thought you had to go in and active the app by pressing it to use it? I am just curious because if I have my DINC mounted in my car and I am running Pandora is there a way I can say something to bring up Voice Search, Navigation or Voice to Text without hitting anything?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently rooted and ROM'd. It used to work that when I held down the little magnifying glass in the lower right corner of my screen it would bring up a voice search that let me say pretty much anything... navigate to [here], call [this person]. It's stopped doing that. Now when I hold it down it brings up a little message saying "you haven't enabled quick compose, please enable it from handcent settings"

View 10 Replies View RelatedOkay, I've done lots of searching and can't find a way to disable voice search. I know, I know, everyone else in the world seems to want it. But I don't use it, have no reason to use it, and it takes up memory. I've been to the (lack of) settings and can't find anything.I am rooted, but not familiar enough with it to know how to remove the application manually.Using a task killer works for a few minutes, but it takes less than 5 minutes to return on its own.
