View 9 Replies View RelatedI would like to create a search in my app which acts like the map search in the Google Maps app. I have creates an an auto complete text view which updates dynamically based on the results of the Geocoder.GetLocationByName() Method. However the results retrieved from this function are really bad and not at all consistent with the text I pass to it. Is there a better method of doing this to achieve accurate results?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI ve seen that google realesed new version of google maps and they state that we have to download it from market and it will update like all other applications dowloaded from market.
1)I cannot find it on market from my phone's application
2)I downloaded from a forum and when i tried to load it, it said that it is a system application and may not be installed What should i do?
I have a Rogers Magic on the AT&T network here in the US. Its a 1.5 system.
On my old phone, the BJ-II running WM6, in google maps I could get my not-so-accurate-location from the cell tower. It wasnt aGPS, it was just a rough guesstimate of where I was at.
With this magic, is this functionality just not possible? It seems the only way to get a rough estimate of location is to use wifi of gps.
The igoogle web page is able to get my location though, it knows what city Im in, and its not using wifi/gps to do this, so I dont see why google maps isnt doing the same thing.
Also, I'd like to upgrade to 1.6 but I dont know in my phone is CRC1 or CRC24 or 32a or 32b.
my baseband ver is 62.52S.20.18U_3.22.20.17
my kernel ver is 2.6.27-dd63d1eb u70000@Android-X01
my build num is 2.16.631.6 146733 CL#33776 release-keys
How can I find out my CRC number and the 32 #?
Also, how do i manuall close apps? the "stop app" in "manage applications" isnt working for any of my apps
When ever I try to use the feature "My location" in google maps, everytime, no matter when or where I am I always get the error "location temporarily unavailable" Is there a setting I'm missing?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm running Cyanogenmod 6. I just noticed that I can't find Google voice or Google maps in the market. I do have the apps installed, but can't see them int he market to get updates. I tried out LFY1.7 and Ultimate Droid 1.0.0, and see the same issue.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI use to be able to search for categories of things in my area by opening google maps and then clickin 'menu' and then 'search' and immediately a list of categories would pop up and i could click on 'restuarants' for instance and then select by sub category such as 'chinese'. Now, the search button only opens a search box. I've seen the places icon but that's no more than a macro to search for broad words like "bars" or "restuarants" in google maps. It's not a full categorization.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with Google Maps. Everytime I start searching for something in Google Maps, the search box will disapper while typing like I hit the back button. I don't recall this type of behavior happening in any other application. I'm using a Spring HTC hero with Fresh 2.4 (Andriod 2.1) and I'm running the latest version of Google Maps (4.6). After some quick google searching I have seen other andriod phones with similar issues, so I don't think it's related to Fresh. THis issue also happened with the previous version of Google Maps.
View 1 Replies View Relatedused to have an iPhone and the lack of google voice as an app caused me to sell it.I'm currently thinking about getting an Android, but haven't been able to find any information on the web about how the google voice app actually works on the droid...is it like the GV Dialer for the iPhone where you call the number from the app and then google calls you back etc.? Does anyone know of any video reviews of the app.I haven't been able to find any.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had been showing off the droids capabilities to a co-worker when he asked "how far away is the nearest place to get a haircut from the hotel". At this time we were still at the airport, so I couldn't just say "map of nearest haircut". So I got the map to display the embassy suites, but then couldn't get it to ALSO display places to get a haircut. It was one or the other. I worked on it for about an hour but couldn't figure this one out. Is there a way to display multiple results?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm aware that the home key cannot be caught, and I'm worried that a long-press on the Search key is another "Android-OS protected" key press. Just for testing, I tried to catch all keys with this code within my Activity, but it does not stop the Google Voice Search dialog from being triggered
View 1 Replies View Relatedthere is a phrase when used in google search that will give your battery stats that is available no where else, i forgot the exact phrase and cant remember where i saw it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhats everyones take on both these applications? I've just started using the new google voice actions and think its amazing, and actually interprets my speech quite well! Voice actions I think provide a bit more robust actions over vlingo, as they can be used to get directions, navigate you somewhere, call certain businesses etc.
I do like the idea of Vlingo's, text to speech, reading who's calling you or a new email or message. I use handcent and that has text to speech although its extremely quiet even if i turn it up completely. I also can't understand it most of the time as it speaks too fast in its funny computer voice!
Another plus, Vlingo is now FREE! I haven't downloaded it yet as I'm just enjoying Googles new voice actions, but I would be interested in a comparison with accuracy and speed in both these applications!
Ok so google just announced the new Voice Search and Google Search apps, that work only on Froyo (2.2). I'm on that OS (yeah!) but can't install the apps? Anyone have some clues? Neither app can install successfully. I'm on CelebFroyo 1.9 for full details on the new function: Just speak it: introducing Voice Actions for Android

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Galaxy S5 with 4.4.2. I dont recall if this happened when I had my S4 but this is my issue. When I am in my car and connected to the cars bluetooth, whenever I want to speak to google to do a search or something it goes through the bluetooth of the car. This would be fine but sometimes it waits like 2-3 seconds until the bluetooth in car picks up and messes up my train of thought. I would like to make the voice search not use the bluetooth when connected.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI find the Google voice search widget (the bar with a mic at the end) pretty useful, however, I can't seem to have it on two different languages at the same time, cause I usually search things in English and Spanish. Is it possible? Or is it limited to just one language at a time?
HTC One
This has been a rather annoying issue for quite a while. Whenever I use the commands like "Listen to (Artist or Song)" or "Play (Artist or Song)" it never seems to recognize it. Instead it just does web search of what I said, I'm not sure where the problem is in it though. I have Poweramp and Play Music installed with plenty of music on file.
