It works perfectly on the 1.6 emulator but FCs on anything higher than 2.0... what has changed that I need to know about as far as opening databases in SDK 2.0+? Here is the logcat.

why can't stackoverflow just use tags like a normal syntax highlighter.
There is an open issue with about 100 people watching it and 80 comments on it which nobody seems to care about it is http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=1580 and it talks about Hebrew support for android phones. The current situation is that people need to root their phones to get it which is simply a ridiculous situation. This issues has been left unattended for a very long time and all that's really needed is to replace the system fonts with fonts that support hebrew. This has been done by Samsung on the Samsung Galaxy and has been proven as working and did not change the font of the system when viewing English. My question is, why is it that Google can't take the time to integrate a change that already exists in a branch of the OS into the trunk and thereby allowing many other people to enjoy the OS? This affects not only Hebrew, but Arabic and many other languages, what's the point of an open source OS if the project progresses so slowly?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to run flash website with my Android device(Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean 4.3). The website built for Internet Explorer only , but i succeed runming it on my FireFox browser on my PC. When i am trying to run this website on my phone , it run properly except of one thing : the Hebrew shows Gibberish.
I tried to put an image but i couldn't! I know that Adobe stop publishing Android flash player, but it still can be download from Adobe's website.
I search on the Internet and tried a lot of things: Flash Player isn't influenced of the browser encoding. I tried to replace a lot of browsers of android, no one solve the problem. After understanding the locale can be the problem i decided to make my IE on my PC show the same Gibresih. I change the religion on my windows 7 control panel and my IE showed the same problem. My device is English but i use application like customlocale2 ( I tried alot of those application). i tried to run the website on my friend galaxy s3 (genuine Hebrew) and the same thing happend. After searching on the internet i found this [link][2] which show how to change Firefox config on android device. I saw that the locate isn't for Hebrew. I tried to change all the configs that look like related to locale from my PC FireFox(couldn't find how to import config to Firefox android) but the same thing happended. (Maybe i miss some configs). Firefox doesn't have Hebrew edition to android device yet. When i tried it on My Google Chorme on my PC , the same thing happend. when i change the language of Google Chrome (including UI) and tried it works! I tried to enter to other Flash site i know and the Hebrew was upside-down.
My application displays Hebrew text which comes from a Web Service. When a sentence contains digits (in the middle of it), the digits appear in a mirror view: 29 appears as 92, 21:45 appears as 54:12 and 2,000 appears as 000,2.
Also, when a sentence starts with digits or English characters, they get thrown to the end of the sentence messing it all up... Is RTL support in Android still immature?
Just switched from Blackberry to the Samsung Epic, and need to install Hebrew support. How can it be done?

i'm very interested of buying the hero 9300+ model with the 512 mb ram. can i add an hebrew language (full system support) on it? the 4.1.1 JB comes without hebrew when you buy it...

When I use the following code in Android 1.6 it displaying both phone numbers and contacts but when I use Android 2.2 it does not display phone numbers, it only displays names. String columns[] = new String[] { People.NAME, People.NUMBER, People._ID };
int tocols[] = new int[] {android.R.id.text1, android.R.id.text2};
Cursor c = managedQuery(People.CONTENT_URI, columns, null, null, null);
SimpleCursorAdapter sca = new SimpleCursorAdapter(this,
android.R.layout.simple_list_item_2, c, columns, tocols);
setListAdapter(sca);
I love my new HTC Incredible, but it is frustrating to not be able to read and respond to emails and Facebook content on a daily basis. It was easy to add Hebrew support on my previous phones (Palm Treo and Blackberry). How difficult is it for Google to provide the hooks to support fonts for one additional language? They will satisfy the needs of most customers who use other languages.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI made a very simple application to start playing around with Android development. It works fine on the emulator, but it gives me the following error when I try to install it on my HTC Hero (v1.5): The application Simple Dial (process com.foo.simpledial) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. (Force Close button) and on in the Eclipse console, I get the following message:

I'm developing an Android application using Android 1.5. I'm using an older version of the SDK because I'm building it to run on a single G1 phone. I've been using a 2.1 emulator without any problems, but when I tried taking a look on my Nexus One (2.2), the application immediately stopped responding. I then tried a 2.2 emulator with the same result. Has anyone seen a similar problem or know of a possible solution? The project isn't very complicated. I have a service running in the background that listens to incoming text messages and passes those messages on to a database. When I run the program in debug mode, it never hits a breakpoint on the first line of the first activity. It is as if it cannot even load.

And several other attempts to call "link" that also fail (sshfs does not support hard links).
Is it possible to change the emulator's behavior to create lock files somewhere in /tmp (using some hash of image path as lock file name)? I am OK to try this myself: which repositories from https://android.git.kernel.org/ are necessary to rebuild the emulator alone, and where in the sources is the code responsible for image locks?
I need to run several emulator instances to test my application. When i try to run instances using emulator -data <path> option, the emulator crashes.
I got a MS Visual Studio window informing that emulator throws a "unhandled win32 exception".
The exception message in the debugger (MS Visual Studio 2008) is: "Unhandled exception at 0x77c4706c in emulator.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x03216848"
The emulator runs normally without "-data" option.
I am getting the following error when I try running my program in the emulator:
emulator: ERROR: the user data image is used by another emulator. aborting`
I am working on an android application and i want the phone number of the phone i.e the emulator.I know there will be no phone number for emulator.I want to know how to get its phone number. The reason is I want to send sms from the phone.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOk here's my problem. I'm very new to the AndroidSDK. I've ran sdparted to convert my ext3 to ext4 and just tonight I learned how to open the emulator.I used the Android development site to learn how to do all this. I ran this: emulator -avd my_android1.6 -t 2 The emulator opened up but, it looks nothing like my phone nor does it have any of the apps that my Magic 32B has. This is my question. I'd like to be able to run an application that is currently installed on my phone on my computer to enter in a bunch of data into that application to use on my phone. It's much easier to type everything out on my computer than using the keyboard on my phone. Is this possible to do with the emulator and if I can how? I'm rooted and using Cyanogen 4.2.5.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIt the earlier versions of Android SDK the emulator had the set phone number. Visible in the phone settings and accessible to applications through the Telephony Manager.get Line 1 Number method. In Android SDK 2.0 it is not set. How to set it?
