Android :: How Can Layout 2 TextViews - 1 On Left - 1 On Right - And A SeekBar On The Same Line
Nov 16, 2009
How can I layout 2 TextViews and a SeekBar on the same line in my layout xml file? I know But how can i specify TextView (one on the right, one on the left) to use only the width it needs to display the string in the TextView while SeekBar will use up the rest of the line? And i don't know the text vale of each TextView in the beginning and these TextView can change value in my application.

I would like to design a layout for my android app which has imageviews/Textviews placed as shown in the figure below.
Right now, i tried to use Absolute layout, but i know that will create problems as the screen size changes.

Seems to me that I should be able to set the colors of the SeekBar thumb, slider, and progress bar in my layout xml file. However, I don't see relevant attributes for these SeekBar components. I only want to change the colors, not replace any images being used for the thumb, etc. What am I missing?

I have a layout with dynamic content. It has a variable number of textviews. On each textview I have to attach an event, a click event. I have to pass to that event some kind of information to know what textview has been clicked exactly. How can I pass this kind of information or how is the android way to do it?

On the left edge of the screen, there is a line going down the side that almost looks like its suppose to be the far right side of the screen because when i move to different homepages, it shows up in that little line first as it swypes across (if that makes any sense). Has anyone else had any screen issues similar to this? This kind of sucks. I was happy that I haven't had any major problems with my phone.

I was sitting at my local Dunn Bros surfing the web on my EVO when I noticed a line that divided the screen in half. If held in the landscape postion the line divided the screen left right and if in portrait upper and lower. As time went on I noticed a lot of off color streaks that ran the length of the screen. Now about an hour later the whole screen is very washed out looking, and no my brightness is not on high either. Text is almost unreadable. It almost looks like when you take a magnet to a CRT screen. And no my EVO has never gotten wet, dropped, or abused in anyway.
Anyone out there experienced this. It really sucks because I don't have the screen separation issue or any other issues that people are experiencing but now my screen is completely dying.

I have a layout question.
Say I have a RelativeLayout appearing at the bottom of my screen. In this, I want to add 2 textviews, in the center, one in the top center and one in the bottom center.
--------------------------
Text1
Text2
--------------------------
Something like that.

I'm using a framelayout to position 2 buttons in the center of the screen. I'm anchoring from the center (using layout gravity = center_horizontal) then applying Layout margin left = 50dip and Layout margin right = 50dip to each button. In 2.2 the margins are being drawn much larger than the numbers I've declared (50dip/50dip). It looks more like 125 or 150. Oddly enough, this doesn't appear to be happening with margin bottom/top, only left/right. Is this a bug, or a sign that I'm doing something incorrectly?

In a RelativeLayout I have a Button to the right of a TextView. The problem is that the text view gets squished to the left of the screen.I want the Button to be squished to the right and the TextView take up all the remaining space.I can't use 'Fill Layout' on the TextView because the button then gets removed from the View completely.

I have created a custom view by extending Relative Layout and it looks like this: The layout for the view:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<merge xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android">
<RelativeLayout android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:gravity="center_horizontal">
<ImageView android:id="@+id/type_picture_preview"
android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:src="@drawable/type_picture_noimage" android:layout_alignParentRight="true"
android:paddingTop="15dip" android:paddingRight="15dip" />
<ImageView android:id="@+id/type_picture_delete"
android:src="@drawable/type_picture_delete"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_alignParentRight="true" />
</RelativeLayout>
</merge>
I am struggling to get two or more layouts on a single line.

I'm trying to create an activity that presents some data to the user. The data is such that it can be divided into 'words', each being a widget, and sequence of 'words' would form the data ('sentence'?), the ViewGroup widget containing the words. As space required for all 'words' in a 'sentence' would exceed the available horizontal space on the display, I would like to wrap these 'sentences' as you would a normal piece of text.
The following code:
code:...................
yields something like the left picture, but I would want a layout presenting the same widgets like in the right one.
Is there such a layout or combination of layouts and parameters, or do I have to implement my own ViewGroup for this?

I want to have a dynamic table, with rows added over time as a result of user interaction, using a TableLayout inside a ScrollView. This works fine, but when I want to scroll to the end of the table using fullScroll(), it always leaves out the last line; that is, it scrolls so that the one before the last one is visible. The last line is visible when scrolling manually, and the scrollbar is correct too.I'm of course open to suggestions as to how to make a better layout out of this; but I'm specifically interested in understanding why fullScroll() behaves that way. Should I give it a different parameter, or use something else altogether? Or does it do that because the newly added line isn't yet visible somehow? (if so, how can I solve that?) Or did I miss some other obvious thing?The following code replicates the problem: TestActivity.java:
package com.example.android.tests;
import java.util.Random;
import android.app.Activity;
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.view.View;
import android.widget.Button;
import android.widget.ScrollView;
import android.widget.TableLayout;
import android.widget.TableRow;
import android.widget.TextView;
public class TestActivity extends Activity {
@Override
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.main);
((Button) findViewById(R.id.AddRow)).setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) {
Random rnd = new Random();
TableRow nr = new TableRow(v.getContext());
for (int c=0; c<3; c++) {
TextView nv = new TextView(v.getContext());
nv.setText(Integer.toString(rnd.nextInt(20)-10));
nr.addView(nv);
}((TableLayout) findViewById(R.id.Table)).addView(nr);
// Scrolls to line before last - why?
((ScrollView) findViewById(R.id.TableScroller)).fullScroll(View.FOCUS_DOWN);
}main.xml:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<RelativeLayout
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:orientation="vertical"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent">
<Button
android:text="Add Row"
android:id="@+id/AddRow"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" />
<ScrollView
android:id="@+id/TableScroller"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent"
android:layout_above="@id/AddRow"
android:layout_alignParentTop="true" >
<TableLayout
android:id="@+id/Table"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:stretchColumns="0,1,2" />
</ScrollView>
</RelativeLayout>
Edit: for reference, I implemented Romain Guy's solution as follows:In TestActivity.java, replace:
// Scrolls to line before last - why?
((ScrollView) findViewById(R.id.TableScroller)).fullScroll(View.FOCUS_DOWN);
// Enqueue the scrolling to happen after the new row has been layout
((ScrollView) findViewById(R.id.TableScroller)).post(new Runnable() {
public void run() {
((ScrollView) findViewById(R.id.TableScroller)).fullScroll(View.FOCUS_DOWN);

Battery Left was the first thing I installed on my phone when I got it. My battery life has been terrible so I've been trying to track down the problem. I woke up today, unplugged my phone and didn't touch it for an hour. Battery Left says I have 70 percent left but the battery meter in the status bar showed full. I uninstalled battery left and installed Battstatt and it shows 90 percent (2 hours later). Anyone else have problems with battery left? I hope this fixes my battery problem.
