View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to find out how wide a button with particular text will be before displaying a layout. Is this a valid way of doing it behind the scenes?I have other UI components that have to all be the same width in my layout, as whatever this one button is (the other widgets are placed all over the UI and I can't use any other layout methods to force them to be the same size).So I thought I could create this temporary layout, add my fake button, measure it to get its width, then use that value on all other controls. Right now I'm doing the same thing only in onWindowFocus(), but this happens after the layout has been displayed once, which I'd like to avoid.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a custom view i am writing for my drawing app but the first time i set the drawing into it i need to get the dimension for the view (using getMeasuredWidth() & getMeasuredHeight()). But until the view display these return 0. I have tried calling: requestLayout() invalidate() numDraw.measure(MeasureSpec.EXACTLY, MeasureSpec.EXACTLY); but nothing seems to force the values to update.I guess the question i am asking is : does anyone have any tips on how to get view to update its measurements off screen?

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust back from a very nice vacation in Iceland, and await the data roaming bill from my phone company. I hope for the best having limited my traffic as much as possible, but I want to know in advance. I used the very nice app NetCounter but it didn't measure roaming data traffic at all.So I want to build my own app measuring just roaming data traffic. I have a few booleans to start with ( NetworkInfo.IsRoaming() & TelephonyManager. isNetworkRoaming() ), but I'm not sure how to measure the traffic if true.So the question is: How do I measure data traffic while roaming? (Something like API level 8 TrafficStats functionality is what I'm after, but for API level 3). The used SmartPhone is Samsung Galaxy i7500 (Android 1.6)

View 3 Replies View RelatedI would like to make an app that measures little time intervals (nanoseconds) so I need to know about time resolution and precision regarding such measures with an Android device.
In other words:
- Is it feasible to get reliable values of the current time with nanosecond resolution?
- If so, is feasible to measure such little time interavals? I mean, is there any way to tell the app/OS to focus on measuring the time interval specified in the current thread instead of allowing other processes to make the measuring task not precise?
I've tried to measure the time between the execution of two different lines in code but the results are not always the same, somehow random, then I suppose Dalvik and its process management is causing this to be unreliable and random. What I need to do is to measure distances by getting transmission and reception of audio tones of 16-20 KHz (done in [1] with iOS), thus needing resolution and precision.
Any app that measures the battery's mAh? I have tried battery monitor by 3c, but I don't think it works completely with HTC phones. Either it keeps saying measurement requires 40% or larger charging cycle or it reports something crazy..
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using the FontFitTextView that was posted in this other thread, but it isn't working exactly right for me. The measureText() call is returning a number that is obviously too small to display the string. When it runs through to find a font size that will allow the text to fit, the font size it settles on is still too big. I feel like there is some other kind of padding or margin or some other invisible that is contributing the math that makes up the width which is causing the discrepancy.For example I want to set the text of my FontFitTextView to be "10,000.25".The width of my FontFitTextView is 96 pixels, with 8px padding on both sides, so my available width is 80 pixels. The call to measureText() says that the text "10,000.25" is 64 pixels wide. This means that the current font size should be small enough to display the entire string. However, when the string is actually drawn on the TextView the last 2 characters are chopped off and all I see is "10,000." instead of "10,000.25"

View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to develop a game, so I need to know elapsed time at lots places in my game. For example, to measuring FPS. I see there is some example use "System.currentTimeMillis" to measure elapsed time. But I see the warning on document: http://developer.android.com/intl/zh-TW/reference/java/lang/System.ht... "This method shouldn't be used for measuring timeouts or other elapsed time measurements, as changing the system time can affect the results." So, if this method should not be used for measuring elapsed time, then what will be suitable?

I'm creating it by calling showDialog with the display's id. The onCreateDialog handler logs fine and I can step through it without an issue, but I've attached it since it seems like I'm missing something:
CODE:............
Is there something missing from this? Some questions have talked about having this problem when creating a dialog from onCreate, which happen because the activity isn't created yet, but this is coming from a call from a menu object, and the appContext variable seems like it is correctly populated in the debugger.
I'm writing an application which connects to a back office site. The backoffice site contains a whole slew of JavaScript functions, at least 100 times the average site. Unfortunately it does not load them, and causes much of the functionality to not work properly. So I am running a test. I put a page out on my server which loads the FireBugLite javascript text. Its a lot of javascript and perfect to test and see if the Android WebView will load it. The WebView loads nothing, but the browser loads the Firebug Icon. What on earth would make the difference, why can it run in the browser and not in my WebView? Any suggestions.
More background information, in order to get the stinking backoffice application available on a Droid (or any other platform except windows) I needed to trick the bakcoffice application to believe what's accessing the website is Internet Explorer. I do this by modifying the WebView User Agent.Also for this application I've slimmed my landing page, so I could give you the source to offer me aid. package ksc.myKMB;

I want to implement my own Tokenizer base on the file
"MultiAutoCompleteTextView.java",
but I encounter an error "com.android.internal.R cannot be resolved" when I try to
import "MultiAutoCompleteTextView.java" to my project.
code:.................
I haven't research any solutions to resolve this problem.How to correct "com.android.internal.R.attr.autoCompleteTextViewStyle" my own attr?
1- Does Android Browser (Éclair code base) support the "plug-in" or not?
2- Why "Google Gears" support is removed from the clair code base?
I searched the forum and came to know that earlier version of the Android does not support it at all? Here is the link for that, but this query asked in Dec'2008.
At first,I have a database created by using Ruby on rails.I just already implement insert function(HTTPPost) in my Android Application and it's work.But I don't know how to retrieve specific record from my databases and insert it back to specific record in Android (Like edit function in RoR)This is my insert code :
private void insertComment() {DefaultHttpClient client = new DefaultHttpClient();HttpPost post = new HttpPost("http://10.10.3.87:3000/comments");
// Configure the form parameters
List<NameValuePair> nvps = new ArrayList<NameValuePair>();
nvps.add(new BasicNameValuePair("comment[content]", t_comment.getText().toString();
nvps.add(new BasicNameValuePair("comment[id_account]", "1"));
nvps.add(new BasicNameValuePair("comment[id_place]", Integer.toString(position)I really try many ways out but it doesn't work and it takes very long time to fight with this piece of code. Actually, I really don't know how to specify RowID to HTTPPost.
