View 2 Replies View RelatedUsing appbrain on my PC seems to work fine when I'm not logged in. When I do log in and try to click on an app I get this error message:
"Error: Server Error The server encountered an error and could not complete your request. If the problem persists, please report your problem and mention this error message and the query that caused it."
Anyone else have this issue when using Appbrain on their pc?
Well, It looks like I solved the problem. I just deleted my account and created it again and it's fixed (for now).
I have a soft-phone on my pc and I would like to be able to use my Nexus One as a USB handset.I think there was an app for my Nokia e71 that did this but, I can't seem to remember the name. Thanks for any pointers in the right direction!
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy PC at home is enabled for Wake On Lan (WOL), and I can turn it on at will from my laptop downstairs. I have done a quick search on the Market and found several apps that will turn my PC on using WOL. What I want is to be able to turn my PC on using WOL whilst I'm at work. I have read that opening a port on my home router (port 9) will allow WOL traffic. Does anyone use WOL from your Hero/Android handset? If so, which app do you use?

Unfortunately, it looks like the trackball is broken - it only goes up, down and left.I'm going to call Orange to get a replacement handset but, will I lose access to the market apps I've paid for? Or does the fact that my market use is tied to my google account mean that it will remember which apps I've purchased and allow me to download them on the new handset?

I liked to use it for private chats with some friends rather than posting on the facebook thingy - dont want every one to know
The Andriod App doesn't seem to do this or have I just missed it?
If I haven't missed it and I am correct - anyone know why such a key feature would be on the iPhone App and not the Andriod App (doesn't seem fair)
Will we see it any time soon - as I don't fancy using another software App to do something the iPhone users can
Are there any existing or forthcoming handsets without physical buttons for Home/Menu/Back/Search? I know these are required for the Android interface, but are there virtual keys on any handsets? It's a small gripe, but on my Legend I am not loving the keys after operating the touch screen!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently have an HTC P3600 (old I know!) running Windows 6.1, with a copy of TomTom installed on it. Because of my job (plumber) and the fact that I live in the middle of nowhere I use TomTom on a daily basis. I would very much like to upgrade my handset and move to Android when it becomes available on my operator (SFR in France) later this month. Is there any way of running TomTom on the handset so I don't get lost in deepest darkest Normandy and get eaten by the locals?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been scouring the web looking for information on setting up a peer-to-peer connection between Android handsets and so far have drawn a blank. The only thing I can definitively seem to work out is that it was made a whole lot more difficult when XMPP was removed from 1.0. Apart from that, I find a couple of threads on an OpenIntents board about porting an XMPP implementation to Android that were last posted nearly 2 years ago. Has anybody solved this problem effectively? What's the best way of doing it (from a games point of view)?

I can get my HelloWorld starting app to run in the device emulator, but not on my Verizon Droid handset. I have downloaded the drivers for Windows 7 and I can see the files on the handset in Windows Explorer, so I'm assuming I have the drivers working. I have enabled the USB Debugging on the handset. The problem is that when I set the Debug mode to Manual in Eclipse, I do not see my device in the "Choose device" list. What am I missing?

As HTC device it is a reference model for Android ecosystem; it will run system version 2.0; it has fair features/price ratio.
Are there any arguments against Hero? Or maybe there is another handset more suitable for programming classes?
Does anybody know if it is possible to switch on a p.c remotely from an android handset? I've figured out how to control the desktop and switch p.c off but would be good to be able to actually wake remotely.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI would like to know whether Android handsets support CDMA network also. Are there any handset which currently supports CDMA or every handset has support for that. Actually I want to retrieve the location information such as Cellid, LAC, MCC, MNC. But if the network is of CDMA type then will there be any difference in the API. Since API for fetching cellid is GsmCellLocation. This class will give the cellid and lac of the current network.
If in some cases the network is of CDMA type then how would location information be fetched in that.. Can we use TelephonyManager class methods for any kind of device? In this class there is no method which gives the LAC of the current network.

I recently found airplay (and hairplay) for my mums mac air and are running hairplay on a raspberry PI for her. I do really miss this feature on my android, I want to get home from work and immediately be able to stream my Spotify music to my miniMAC HTPC connected to all speakers at home.
How can I stream my music from my handset to my home speakers through the wifi network? I got a rooted ZTE Blade now with CM7.Im waiting for my Nexus 4 and will flash CyanogenMod on it really soon so Root access is possible if it involves that.
I have them filtered on the Handset so that only those marked as Friends or Family under Gmail contacts are shown. I can't help this as otherwise I'd have well over 1000 contacts to scroll through on my phone.
My issue is that should I add a contact on my phone it doesn't appear. This is obviously because when it's created it has no group membership. It still resolves against SMS etc but is not displayed in the Contacts list. I can (when near a computer) quickly jump onto gmail, manage contacts and put the person into the right group but ideally I'd like to be able to do this on the handset.
Is there any way at all of editing Google Contact Group membership on the handset? I certainly can't find the option if it exists. Alternatively is it possible to change it so when the contact is create on the handset that it automatically saves as a 'Friend'.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI got my hands on Android which is really fun. But at some point I don't seem to understand the concept. I've got a Main class which reads like this:
CODE:....
In the onCreate(...) I set the layout to setContentView(R.layout.main); and add an OnTouchEvent Listener to the sole View in main.xml: myView.setOnTouchListener(new OnTouchListener() {@Override public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent event){...
As you can see I also implemented a SensorEventListener which is used if required. All works fine so far.
But my problem is this (at this point my misunderstanding kicks in): whenever I rotate the device the onCreate(), onStart() etc. methods are called, causing my app to act as if it just started. Furthermore, I feel unable to implement an onSizeChanged(int w, int h, int oldw, int oldh) { ... } Listener.
Can anyone please explain where my error in reasoning is? I am working on a tiny app which is more or less done, except for the just mentioned bug(s). Maybe I got it all wrong but it does what it is supposed to do (i.e. sending touch positions and accelerometer data over the network via UDP).
