Android :: HTC Phone Prices?

So basically I plan on getting an HTC phone, and I'm down to either the wildfire or desire.The wildfire, because it is smaller and much cheaper.The desire, because it is acclaimed to be one of (if not the best) smartphone out there.I was wondering, what is the cheapest price a sim free desire would go for? Possibly from eBay or somewhere similar. Most times it's about 250 or so, but what is the cheapest price do you guys suppose you could get one for?

Is it just me or does it seem that lately App Prices have increased? When I first got my phone in August I could surf the App Market and most paid Items were only $0.99. Now you look and I am seeing alot of $5 + apps

iIm looking for an app that i can scan a barcode and associate prices to it from local stores. i know of compare everywhere, shop savvy, and others but these apps don't know the prices at the local acme or giant eagle. if i could scan a barcode and then assign a price to it from a few local stores including target or walmart that would be great. I've found an iphone app but there's no such version for android (that i've found) called wychlist.

I've never been interested in verizon in the past, but I must have a droid now.I noticed that the droid is $119.99 on TigerDirect.com (w/ 2 yr contract) and the activation fee is waved, and I'm wondering if Verizon stores will match the price? Verizon is currently charging $199.99 and a $35 activation fee.I will be going in to the Verizon store after work to try to get them to match the price and looking for some advice in the meantime. Has anyone had any luck getting them to match the price? Or, should I just order from tiger direct?

i'm looking for a way to make phonecalls with my computer+Logitech G230, through my android device (Jiayu G4 Advanced)
The Remotecall app in Playstore still requires me to pick up my phone in order to actually hear something..
its got all the other features i'd like to use: answer calls from my PC, make calls from pc (from , for example, the outlook contactlist), call Log capability; but i have to pick up my phone when i probably can just hear it through my headphone (connected to PC)
I think i should be looking for some sort of voip server on my phone and let my computer act as voip client, but i'm not entirely sure about that.

I have a question for those in the know. I am interested in purchasing an android-capable phone in the near future..I really like what it offers. My brother has a G1 (Mobile USA), which has piqued my interest in the Android platform. My question is: Is the app store synced with every kind of Android-capable phone, or just that specific phone? If I was to buy a HTC Magic, would it use the same app store as the G1? AFAIK, some other major platforms, such as Symbian do not sync, and it's 'every phone for itself', but I was thinking that Android was more synergic.

I have my HTC Desire and the Facebook application is the worst thing it should happen. It sync all my friends phone numbers and mixes with all my other phone numbers. Can some one in clear state of mind ask Android/Facebook to give us the option to select what friends we want in our phone list? I like the Facebook app but deleted it once it messes my phone!

I know this is usually done the other way round. My uni halls doesn't have wifi, instead it has an ethernet cable for every room. The problem with this is I'm using up my 3g internet on my phone a lot more and i'd like to do things like update my apps and check twitter more but i'm scared i'll run out. By plugging my phone into my laptop, is there a way to borrow the internet from my laptop for my phone?

I made a very simple application to start playing around with Android development. It works fine on the emulator, but it gives me the following error when I try to install it on my HTC Hero (v1.5): The application Simple Dial (process com.foo.simpledial) has stopped unexpectedly. what i was thinking, was, does anyone make like a little "mini phone" that works over blue tooth?i was thinking something like that would be cool to have. leave your big x in the dock when you in the car, or on your desk, or somewhere out of harms way when you go to work, and just carry you "mini phone" with you in your pocket. make calls, and etc from it. i was thinkin something that looks like a small flip phone would be cool. have any of you guys ever seen anything like that? or think it would be useless?

I would be grateful for your well-informed suggestions.In my own naivety I purchased a Blackberry Curve, and it's next to useless to me since I don't have the web service (too expensive), it doesn't transfer *.html or *.pdf files by USB, audio transfer app is buggy, and in what it does do, it's a pain to use.I need a device to use as a PDA (calendar & tasks lists to sync with desktop software such as Outlook or similar), to read *.rtf & *.pdf documents, use *.html & JavaScript files, play audio files, take text memo notes, a simple IDE on which I can do some simple programming (preferably in Java, but another language would be ok), and use a flashcard app, such as Anki. All file transfers must be by USB.Oh, and I don't need it to have a phone at all, so some other device such as that Android iPad clone would be OK if it operates well, reliably, and will likely last at least a couple of years.I'm severely limited financially, so I need to choose the cheapest one which fulfillls these needs. I'd prefer a keyboard, but if any much cheaper with touchscreen only can fulfill these requirements, it will do. Buying a used device such as from ebay would keep the price down, but I need advice on selecting one, considering that I chose something as terrible as a Blackberry.

My Android app needs to retrieve information about a contact (namely, phone number and name.) I wrote some code using getContentResolver().query() In the results, I am seeing that the name is being returned, and other information like when I last contacted that person, but not the phone number. What am I doing wrong?

I'm trying to figure out the difference between a Droid phone and a phone with Android.I have the Droid Eris, which i love.My sister just got the Motorola Devour, which if I'm not mistaken is not a Droid.My sister asked me to help her figure out how to work it and i was going to tell her she cant do all the cool things I can with a Droid... and that's when she told me it had Aldroid(not sure which version yet)So what's the difference?CAn it do the same things? Download apps from the MArket?I have great apps on my Eris like Swype keyboard (which i didn't get from the market), HAndcent for texting, among others.Can she get all those same things?If so, what makes a phone a Droid? I was surprised that I really couldn't find much on this, but I can't be the only one with the problem. My Droid Eris is sending blank text messages repeatedly. Is the phone faulty or is there some setting that I can change. I downloaded ChompSMS hoping that would fix it, but it doesn't appear to. When I open my text messaging program, many times it will send a blank text to the last person I texted. The other day, I turned the phone off and turned it back on and it sent a blank text at the exact time I turned it on.
