View 5 RepliesI (as well as many others) received an email telling us that Google would like to give us a new Android device for "your contribution to the success of Android's community forums". The email continued asking us to fill out the form by Monday, March 15th, 6pm PST.
I filled out the form as soon as the email hit my inbox (long before the due date) and have still not heard anything back from them (10 days after the due date). Has anyone else heard anything back about this?
This isn't the "Device Seeding Program for Top Android Market Developers" but the "Android Developer Device Seeding Program" that I'm talking about here.
Does anyone know if the Nexus One that Google is sending developers as part of the Device Seeding Program is different from the ones people get when they order them from Google's website?
Different packaging? Different firmware? Different pattern on the case?
I am assuming no-one is going to send me Froyo OTA so where can I get a copy of Froyo to flash onto my Nexus One? As I use it for testing my apps I want it to be as close as possible to what a user would have and definitley do not want to root the phone.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI just received an email about Device Seeding Program for Top Android Market Developers:
Subject: Device Seeding Program for Top Android Market Developers From: android-market-seed...@google.com
Due to your contribution to the success of Android Market, we would like to present you with a brand new Android device as part of our developer device seeding program. You are receiving this message because you're one of the top developers in Android Market with one or more of your applications having a 3.5 star or higher rating and more than 5,000 unique downloads.
In order to receive this device, you must click through to this site, read the terms and conditions of the offer and fill out the registration form to give us your current mailing address so that we can ship your device.
You will receive either a Verizon Droid by Motorola or a Nexus One. Developers with mailing addresses in the US will receive either a Droid or Nexus one, based on random distribution. Developers from Canada, EU, and the EEA states (Norway, Lichtenstein), Switzerland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore will receive a Nexus One. Developers with mailing addresses in countries not listed above will not receive a phone since these phones are not certified to be used in other countries.
Does anyone know if the Android Developer Device Seeding Program is over? Was it only applications that had 5k+ downloads a 3.5* rating in March? I recently published my first app to the market and in 2 weeks it has reached 5k+ downloads and has a 4* rating.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAbout the "latest" version of the Android platform vs. APIs and SDK. as far as I read in the Android web site the latest Android SDK is 2.2
I also have an HTC developer Phone, and when I go to the htc to update its firmware and Android Image (from page: http://developer.htc.com/adp.html); I found that the latest radio and recovery images are for Android 1.6
what does it mean?
1. Do I have to wait until platform 2.2 is released for HTC Dev Phone?
2. or if I have the latest 1.6 images instaled on my device it will run whatever I build using SDK 2.2.
Does the Hero or any of the 3rd part developer ROMS have the new Google Navigation?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI own HTC Desire which has a built-in GPS. It's a really great option, but what really annoys me is this: when I use GPS, my data connection must also be enabled in order to refresh Google Maps. And since data packets in Croatia are still pretty expensive, this is not a option for me. Anyway, the question is: is there a way to fully download Maps to your SD Card without having data connection enabled, but GPS only?
So, just like with standard GPS devices.
I created a custom map in Google Maps "My Maps". Now i want to show that map on an android device, but not just opening it as a web page but showing it using MapView or smth similar. I want to be able to center on a place I have marked on the map etc. My custom map is a map containing the location of all gas stations in a city.

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust got my greasy hands on a HTC Hero and loving it. I have used HTC to transfer my Outlook contacts to the phone as a one-off but even though I have "Sync Contacts" enabled (Home->Settings->Data Sync->Google->Contacts) on the phone I don't see these contact details when I log into Gmail on my Win PC and click contacts? Incidentally my calendar syncs from Hero to Gmail/calendar perfectly.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to get 2 of the same device to show up on 1 account in Google play? I have 2 Android stick devices (the iMito MX2) on my 2 TVs, and it's a guess which one will actually show up in the store at any given time. I've named them two different things, but they still don't both show up. I assume Google thinks that I've replaced one and is getting confused.., other than to just create separate gmail accounts on them?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to hire a developer for a small project. It involves searching and sending a request to my server which will return results in XML format. The app will have to display the results. Then based on that, the user will click on of the results and the app will send another request to the server and return the last bit of data. So basically a GUI that requests and displays data. My server does all the work, basically. I have designed a GUI with photo shop from pre-existing screen shots, so the developer just needs to emulate what I've drafted up.

View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how to sync a calendar of a HTC Android device with Outlook AND Google Calendar? I explicitly mention "a calendar" and "a HTC Android device" since this seems to be a general problem.I installed HTC Sync 3.0 and managed to get Outlook Calendar items from Outlook to the HTC Wildfire. Frustratingly HTC Sync creates a new Calendar on my phone called "PC Sync". So all the items go there. Since this is a new calendar not a single calendar item from my phone goes to Outlook. When I move or create appointments in this new category, they also appear in Outlook. Though this category issue is annoying, the most annoying is that these appointments do not appear in Google Calendar. The new category is simply not there. I suspect "HTC Sync" is a special local category like "My Calendar" is.HTC obviously doesn't quite understand what "synchronization" means and what customers want. Unbelievable that HTC creates its own category where by default there is only one-way synchronization. Not to speak from synchronization from the phone and Google Calendar. Does anyone have an idea how to get Outlook and Google Calendar synchronized via my HTC device?
