Feb 16, 2010I am making an android application that shows a list with users, I would like to add the image,name,status,and a button in every row of the list, just like in the androids 1.6 native caller-> favorites tab.Until know I have managed to add the image and name using an ListActivity but when I try to add the button the list becomes unselected.So I have 2 questions, first is the list mentioned above listviews or listactivities? also is this possible using listActivity? and second, what is the difference of the above mentioned classes?

Now what I'm doing is creating values-fr values-es directories. But my phone only has English and Spanish locales.
Here's two things that would help:

Feb 6, 2010I am trying to write an application with a list of items read in from a file. This item list and the fields that go with each item are fed into a DB. The item names are presented to the user as an auto- completing list. Once the list item is selected, I would like to get the value from the list and use it to query the database and display all the detail information.
The problem I am having is trapping the event using onItemSelectedListener and onItemSelected.
Below is what I am trying.

Android :: Setup Contact List / Auto Complete Feature Not Showing All
Feb 5, 2010I recently got the G1 and used my Gmail account online (via computer) to setup my contact list and then sync it to my G1. Now when I compose an SMS message, and begin typing the name of the person in my contact list, only some of the names that match will appear in the drop down auto-complete list but others that match don't show up at all. To compose SMS to them I have to use the Contacts>Scroll to contact>Select text to mobile method. Any ideas why some of the contacts do not show up in the auto-complete list when composing an SMS and typing in a partial name in the To field?

Jun 1, 2010I want to show the user a flattened pick list of all their contacts phone numbers and it must work from versions 1.6 up. I have read the related questions on SO and the Android documentation for Eclair (http://developer.android.com/resources/articles/contacts.html#legacy).
The problem is, even splitting my code into a factory class and specific implementations does not work for me because using Contacts.CONTENT_URI only shows contacts not individual numbers. What I need is this for version 1.6

And the equivalent for 2.0 and above.
Even if I get their example to work, by building against the 2.1 API am I not stopping my app being visible on the Market to users with earlier versions of the OS? I can't launch it against a 1.6 emulator, for example.

Apr 22, 2010Several Droid users have reported that my app's entire database just destroys itself randomly after a few days or so. This seems to be specific to the Droid. I'm at a loss. My app has a service that runs in the background to display notifications, it also supports widgets. Both of those (and the app itself, of course) access the database, and I marked every accessor to the database "synchronized", just in case. Any remote idea what could cause the entire database to just vanish?

There are too many jpeg image files: about 2000~ jpegs, over 100MB.
I want access the image files with their file names,
but I couldn't find such an example.
By the way, is it okay to put many image files in /res/drawable folder?
I heard that the android application cannot be installed on sdcard and
the program repository is very small so 100MB app cannot be installed generally.
I found some examples which download the large data files on sdcard online,
but I cannot run a web server to host the data files,
and I must upload the fully packaged program on Android Market. (Should I build one apk file?)

Sadly the Documentation on android.com does not cover the XML attributes of the Shape classes. I think I should use an ArcShape to draw a circle but there is no explanation on how to set the size, the color, or the angle needed to make a circle out of an Arc.
