I mean to say that i want a notification(Command) same as when we type *#06# in home screen it will show a IMEI no. in the same way when i press a certain code (eg: *#12345#) then it will notify to my service which is running in background.

What's command can back to home screen or destop screen? eg:

The backstory first:
I have a Nexus 10. I like to plug it into my TV via HDMI and watch videos or play games, or what have you. Since the aspect ratio doesn't match the TV I get black bars on the sides. In a command line, one can type

to change the resolution of the screen and get rid of the black bars on the TV completely (at the cost of adding black bars on the top and bottom of the tablet.)

Sets it back to normal.
Rather than typing this into a terminal /every time/ I want to do this, is there a simple widget or app that will let me set up a shortcut on the homescreen that I can just click on to toggle instead?
Is there really no "Home" command in the Android Browser? It let's you save a home page, but for what?

This problem does not happen if I exit an app by pressing the back button. It becomes very annoying at times.
I am designing a home screen widget. I ran this widget on a HTC Hero device, which has a screen of 320 pixels * 480 pixels with mdpi. It ran perfect on HTC Hero. The widget takes 3 cells * 2 cells space, i.e. 240 pixels * 200 pixels.Then I ran this widget on a Nexus One device, which has a screen of 480 pixels * 800 pixels, mdpi. Since Nexus One also is mdpi, so I though 240dip is equivalent to 240 pixels on Nexus One and 200dip is equivalent to 200 pixels on Nexus One, so the widget will not take 3 cells * 2 cells space on Nexus One device. To my surprise, when running on Nexus One device, the widget take exact 3 cells * 2 cells, about 360 pixels * 300 pixels, on Nexus One device.I am confused. The layout xml above specifies 240dip in width and 200dip in height for the widget, but why did it take 360 pixels * 300 pixels on Nexus One Device? What am I missing?

After experimenting with different wifi tethering apps from the unofficial market, I began experiencing difficulties with my wifi connection. Even after uninstalling every app that I thought was changing the wifi state, the problem still persists. I can turn on the wifi and it will act normally for about 30 seconds before turning off without user intervention. In dmesg, the error is as follows: 'mmc1: Got command interrupt 0x00060001 even though no command operation was in progress.' Is this caused by an app or is this a more complicated problem?

Seven is really pointless for me, it makes finding the right screen take a little longer and there's just not enough good quality widgets that I need to use. I could do better with 5 and possibly just 3.Second is that when I'm not on a homescreen and I hit the home button, I'd like it to go back to the LAST homescreen I was on, not the center one. And if I'm already on a homescreen, once again pull up the homescreen select menu, instead of going to the center homescreen. It's a waste of a button press to always go to that center screen when pressing the home button.

I think these are for baseline HVGA screen. This only happens when running certain apps, specifically Facebook and jetflicks (and some others that I can't name off the top of my head) but when I press the home button it goes to the last screen of my home setup. I run stock froyo and sense, and I keep up with as many updates as possible. Is there a patch for this that anyone knows of?

It happens when I'm in the browser, email app, etc. There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason behind it.
Is there any way to disable the screen that shows all the 7 screens after tapping the home screen? If not disable get rid of it all together.

exmples: when drawing the unlock screen, there is a big lag till the home screen comes up huge lag in opening programmes or menus

So through a weird assortment of events i managed to crack the screen on my Eris. But this is the trippy part, I didnt break the glass but the touch sensors underneath. So now i am unable to use the menu or home buttons and the entire left part of my screen and more. I am unable to unlock my device in anyway that i know(menu button, the slider). Is there any other way to unlock it? I now have 11 unread texts and 4 voicemails that I desperately want to view. Oh and I know some of you won't be happy about what I'm about to say but.... I took the leap to the moto droid. I had the chance to get it on a 1 year because I didnt get insurance and I went for it. I will really miss my Eris but the keyboard lag was just killing me.
