Android :: Fix Position Of A ImageButton Relative To Background?
Nov 16, 2010
How to fix the position/layout of a ImageButton/Button/ImageView relative to the background?code...
When I change the display resolution, the background_img stretch to cover the new area, but the ImageButton doesn't stretch and doesn't respect the bottom margin proportionately.

Android:layout_gravity="center" doesn't seem to work the same in a RelativeLayout as it does in a linear one - I would just like both an ImageButton and a TextView to be centered in a relative layout - is there a basic xml code for this?

I have a custom view that I had to write for a large scrollable image, as the images are larger than the size of the screen. Before, I had tried to do it by putting the image into a ScrollView but that of course didn't work. The view itself is within a RelativeLayout within the activity and at the bottom of the screen I have two buttons that are used for navigation and at the top a TextView with a caption for the activity (the main header is already being used here for instruction). In my below code, I've checked the Hierachy Viewer to confirm all the elements are loaded and in the Activity I can see the TextView, however it overlays the ZN5ScrollView area and below the image I just have a blank area of the size defined rather than my buttons. For the bottom navigation, the Hierachy Viewer is saying the absolute_y of the bottom navigation is 480. I'm wondering if anyone can help with my layout code here to get this working correctly? Bottom navigation is 50px high, ZN5ScrollView is 365px above the navigation, and the TextView takes up the rest of the area at the top

I want to be able to specify an android:src, but I want android:background="" - complaints that string types are not allowed when compiling.
I basically want a button without any background (but that *does* have a 'src').

I've set the background image of a custom ImageButton I am building, as well as setClickable(true) and setFocusable(true). The button is able to receive focus when I navigate with DPad/arrow keys in the emulator, however, it does not flash orange when it has the focus. It does not appear to change at all when it has the focus, in fact. When I remove the background image, however, the ImageButtons hold orange when they have focus.
What do I need to do to be enable an ImageButton with a custom background image to flash orange when it has focus?

On my htc i was looking through display, i see g sensor calibration and i perform this calibration and after i do so the screen seems to have a delay when switch from the horizontal position to the vertical position. its weird because when i switch to the phone horizontally it switch normally and responds fast. but when i switch back to vertically it takes almost 7 seconds to actually switch back, sometimes it switch within 2 or 3 secs but never as quick as switching horizontally.

If you're already updated, shut down and repower (soft reboot) should do the trick. I actually updated my phone and after it started to do this. I restarted the phone plenty of times i even took the battery out for 30 seconds. It only does it when im texting on the browser, basically everything but the camera. He camera screen rotation is perfect. I even rooted the phone but i havent figured out how to use the root to fix the problem. Should i do a firmware update? Because i just did the htc software update.

I'm reworking some of my layouts to use Relative layout. I have some building blocks which I'd like to reuse. The problem I seems to have with the include of the layout and position other layouts out of this include. Example:
<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height=wrap_content"

I need to implement a screen containing a list of blocks one below the other. Each block will contain mutiple superimpose elements (Images, text) for which the relative position needs to be specified with respect to the top left corner of the block.
For creating the list of blocks i have used listview. For each block i tried to use relative layout. This works ok when the phone is in landscape mode and absolute position is specified relative to left edge of the phone. But when the phone is put in the portrait mode the layout gets distorted.
1) What layout can be used for this scenario?
2) Can relative positions be specified in terms of percentage of screen width/height instead of pixels?

I'm attempting to add four controls to a layout; <label> <text> <seek> <radio> I want the seek widget to occupy all the available screen space between the edittext control and the radio control. However if I give it the value android:layout_width="wrap_content" only a small seek control is displayed and if I set the value to fill_parent it overwrites the radio control. I would have thought there would be a mechanism to occupy the free space between the text and radio controls dynamically. The xml file I am using is below You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group. Is there any info out there that describes what range of speeds you can expect on each of these? If that isn't available, it would be nice to be able to order them based on speed.

How can I have an imagebutton stay in the 'pressed' state when it is clicked? Basically I just want the background to be the depressed background, but I can't figure out how to set it. At the moment, I've just copied the selected button background into my res folder, but when I set it as the background, it becomes blurry (since the original image is bigger than the button itself).

Also I don't believe I can actually use this method considering the many different UI layouts. The button should stay pressed as per the UI the user is using.

The image is 64X64 and I was expecting to see 32X32 on the screen. However, the button draws with the original 64X64 size. I can re- sample the image down and create a new file but I'm curious why this approach didn't work.

I'm trying to create a transparent (no button background) ImageButton that has a custom selector. I have the selector working against the button but I now want the selector drawables to cross-fade into each other.
I saw the TransitionDrawable object that can be represented in XML. Is there a way to connect this into my selector?
Below is the XML layout code to create the image button on the screen in the lower left corner of the screen. It currently goes from one image to the next abruptly ignoring the transition XML.
