I just activated the Facebook app on my motorola droid and set it to "Sync with existing contacts." Then when I went to my phone's contacts they were all gone except for 5 seemingly-random contacts, three of which aren't even in my Facebook contacts. This is a major problem for me. I had nearly a hundred contacts on my phone. Does anyone know how I can get them back?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI used this app called iDrive lite to back my iPhone contacts on it, and now when I use it on Android, they load just fine, however when my phone reboots. all the contacts disappear. However it doesn't erase my manually added ones. Just the ones I restored from that app.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI got my DroidX on 7/15 and on 7/16 linked all my phone contacts who have facebook to a facebook contact via social networking. I kike how the phone sets the picture, I like that in the contact entry it shows me thier status on facebook. What I don't like is that when I open up a contac that is both a phone contact and a facebook contact and I tap the facebook icon on the contact screen I get 3 options (view profile, write on wall, and poke). If I open up a contact that is only facebook and tap that same Icon I get 4 options (view profile, message, write on wall, and poke). Is there some reason linking the facebook contact to a phone contact needs to remove that option? I'd like to be able to send a facebook message from the phone to any contact as easy as I can send a text message.

View 3 Replies View RelatedOK, so why do I not see anyone else commenting on this? I have owned several cell phones in the past that needed updates. NONE of these phones ever needed to be backed up prior to updating because an update resets your phone. STUPID! I simply don't have the time to do so and then try to reset up my phone the way I spent so much time doing the first time. This update should be available on the settings menu and definitely should not require backup.

When I opened up my phone I was surprised to see that there was NO sd card. who have that memory chip, but is there any hope for me without the card? View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter the update to Android 2.1 on my HTC Hero, like many other people, I had problems syncing my phone contacts to my facebook contacts. The process com.htc.bgp constantly force closed, and no linking could be made or is some cases only a part of the facebook contacts were synced. Different fixes has been suggested by users online but none of them worked. But after a lot of trying, a combination of these fixes finally solved the problem for me. Now all my facebook contacts are available to link to my phone contacts. Here's what I did and what you can try:
1. On your computer, go to Facebook Account Application settings. Remove applications Facebook for Android and HTC Sense. Log out of Facebook.
2. On your phone, remove any all Facebook programs or widgets you might have installed.
3. Go to Settings Accounts and delete your Facebook for HTC Sense account. The settings Background data should be checked and Auto-sync unchecked.
4. Go to Settings Applications Manage applications. Enter each of the following applications and click Clear data:
a. Calender
b. Calender Storage
c. com.htc.socialnetwork.accountmanager
d. com.htc.socialnetwork.provider
e. Facebook for HTC Snese
f. Gmail
g. Gmail Storage
h. My Uploads
i. PC Synchronization
5. Restart your phone.
6. Connect to the internet.
7. Start the Photos program
8. At the bottom there should be a facebook icon. Click it and log in to your facebook account.
9. Let all the contacts download.
10. Go to your contacts (People), and now your old Facebook connections should slowly start to appear, and you should be able to link the contacts to your facebook contacts. It might take a while but have patience!
Perhaps one or a few of these steps are not necessary, but at least its what worked for me and hopefully it will help some of you.
I hope I can get some help here, I am running android 2.0 update 1 on my HTC Hero and have synced my facebook contacts up with my phone so it's downloaded everyone onto my contact list. This is brilliant, but I have one problem, recently added facebook friends (within the last few months or so) are not downloading onto the phone. I've got into accounts and sync'd it and it seems to be synced but it isn't downloading the new friends contact details onto my phone.

I like that I can get their pics, email, other phone numbers, etc. What I don't like is that my phonebook has 100 contacts from Facebook that I will never ever call. Is it possible to hide these 'crap' contacts from the phonebook while still being able to sync with my good contacts?

After messing around with it for 2 days, I finally figured out how to link my Facebook contacts with my already existing phone contacts, so I did not have people in there twice, under two different names! However, only SOME of them are allowing me to change their caller ID names. For instance, my Mom is on Facebook, so instead of having her caller ID as her FB name, it allowed me to change it to "Mom", but for other contacts, it won't let me. Any idea why, or how to fix this? Also, is there still NO way to get rid of the unwanted contacts without deleting them from your Facebook friends list? That is driving me nuts! I don't need ALL 225 of my facebook friends in my phone.

View 20 Replies View RelatedSo in early May, I got the Android update thing for my Droid Eris. I started it, and it took forever. Ever since then, I can't link my Facebook account to my phone. I've seen a lot of similar situations but nothing exactly the same. I can't link any of my phone contacts to my Facebook contacts. I have the Facebook for HTC Sense and the Facebook app. I can log on and view my Facebook accout, etc but when I go to People my contacts don't have pictures. I've tried to go to menu > settings > account & sync and remove my Facebook for HTC Sense account and manually sync or whatever. Still didn't work. A "force close" message appears every time I try to sync, yet my Google accounts will sync. I've tried going to each contact and manually link them to their Facebook profile but nothing even loads, as in it will say I have no friends to choose from (whomp whomp). I finally gave in and installed that Sync My Pix app but I'm not satisfied. Mainly, because that app saves all the contacts pictures in my photo albums and it doesn't do their status updates, etc. Really, I just don't want an app to make my phone do something it's already suppose to do.

I have roughly 1000 Facebook "friends" but only 300 are really friends and family and the rest are mainly gaming friends for games like Mafia Wars, etc. and I don't want to sync those. I want the Facebook contacts who I personally know to show up when I use the contacts icon on the home screen. I would like to sync them but I'm afraid it will import the list and I would have to manually delete them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had my (generic) Desire for a few weeks now, and have a really nagging/annoying problem in that, where i've added contacts (on the phone memory) and then synced with facebook, it's pulling in their mobile phone number from facebook, but is defaulting to 447584... and will not let me call the contact without first editing the number to read 07584...
The only way around this so far as i can tell, is to manually add the number again as a 'Home' number but with a 0 in place of 44, as re-adding as a mobile just defaults back to the 447584... and then assigning the 'Home' number as the primary contact number. Does anyone have any ideas whether this is a bug or something i've done myself, and also whether there is a way i can update my whole phonebook to change the 44's for 0's rather than manually going through and changing them?
Whenever an unknown number texts me, my phone is adding random facebook contacts to those numbers. For example, Orange texted me and it came through as being from this guy who is a friend of a friend who i have on facebook. It adds his name and profile picture to the top of those texts though and it's really annoying. It also started doing it with a second person (totally unrelated to the first), this time for texts from my bank. What i have discovered is that on facebook they both have a line in their info which says 'Mobile Number: " but then no mobile number (shown in the picture below), so i presume they've both put a space there and for some reason my phone has taken this and linked them to these unknown numbers. I've deleted both "Facebook for HTC Sense" sync and "Facebook" sync (not desirable, because i like seeing peoples profile pics and birthdays in my phone contacts), but it still happens. I also tried unlinking the first person from all of the links it had made, but that didn't work either. I have a HTC Hero running 2.1.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi've just upgraded to the Desire & am liking many things in it, but this issue bugs me:i've synced & linked the contacts in my 'people' app. in some cases, this involved linking the FaceBook profile of a person with a pre-exisitng phone number in my phone/sim card.The problem is that the phone seems to default to the Facebook 'profile picture' as the icon/photo that shows up in my People app (for that contact), even if tell it not to.I've tried downloading new pics, or taking a photo with the camera, and then manually setting this as the 'icon' for a certain person. This works for a while (a few hours?) and then within one day, the phone automatically re-sets this icon & replaces it with the Facebook profile pic. again.
