Feb 3, 2010We are using TextView's Ellipsize function to scrolling text in it and there many other controls in our window. We noticed CPU would go up to 50% if text started scrolling. After digging deeper, we found all controls in our layout kept drawing when texts scrolling. We wonder why? And how to avoid all controls redrawing?

Dec 1, 2009I want to use the marquee effect on a TextView, but the text is only being scrolled when the TextView gets focus. That's a problem, because in my case, it can't.
I am using:
android:ellipsize="marquee"
android:marqueeRepeatLimit="marquee_forever"
Is there a way to have the TextView always scroll its text? I've seen this being done in the Android Market app, where the app name will scroll in the title bar, even if it doesn't receive focus, but I couldn't find this being mentioned in the API docs.

1) Is there anyway to get ellipsize to work on a multiline TextView? So that the ellipses are shown at the end of the text, rather than at the end of the line? If not what is the best way to handle this on my own?]
2) Is there any way to change the character used for eellipsize? For example, use "... [Read More]", this obviously coincides with question 1 above since one wouldn't want to take half of the single line to say read more, but on a multiline, it would be nice to be able to have like 3 or 4 lines and then a read more? Maybe there is a better way to do this that I haven't figured out yet?
Android :: AppWidget Layout Troubles With Ellipsize
Jul 29, 2010I'm writing an app-widget that displays some numbers, each with label in front of it.
The layout looks like this:

There is one outer (vertical) LinearLayout, and each row is a horizontal LinearLayout with two TextViews.
The problem is that the numbers get ellipsized if the width of the label and the number is too wide for the widget. I want the labels to get ellipsized.
The above situation for instance, would end up like this:

General :: Battery Not Charging To 100% LG Marquee
May 25, 2012I have had the issue of plugging the phone it at around 9pm when going to bed and it charging to 100% the next morning at around 7:30-8am but as soon as i unplug the charger it drops from 100% to 99 to 97%? Im using the battery circle app to monitor my battery %. I have "calibrated" the battery by using the phone until it shuts it self off then charging it to 100% while its off then unplug it and turn it on and then plugging it back in.
Usually i will get between 15-19+ hours on normal use if i unplug it and plug it back up when it drops suddenly to 9-% in the mornings but if i dont ill get somewhere around 13 hours of life. is there something wrong with the phone, battery or charger?

Sep 9, 2010I use "Palm VNC" to control my computers via my Palm TX; this is most useful for one particular pc as I can use the Palm's touch screen to activate commands rather than the mouse on the pc. A quick point with a finger and the command fires rather than picking up the mouse, moving to the required spot on the screen then clicking. May 31, 2010I have a Linux N wireless router, and a desktop with a wifi card running Windows 7 (Home Premium x64). I have a HTC Magic running the 4.2 version of CyanogenMod (Android version 1.6). What I basically, want to do is in the title. I want to have an app that allows me to view my PC screen on my phone. Gmote and similar apps come close, but they are useless as I cannot view my screen. I have looked at a number of "VNC" apps, but for one reason or another it just doesn't work. I have gotten VLC Remote and TunesRemote to work, which means that I am able to connect my phone to the computer, but beside that nothing works. I managed to get TunesRemote to work by opening certain ports in Windows 7. However, I tried to do a similar thing with a number of VNC applications and none of them worked. I have been trying to port forward for the last three years and no matter what I do, it just doesn't work. I am unsure if it is my Windows 7 firewall or the router, but either way nothing seems to be working.
