Now my doubt is when I click a tab it should come forward and other tabs should be visible partially in such a way that the width of middleTab should increase evenly in left and right directions, so that the other tabs in left and right should slip out of window partially. How can this be achieved in android. It should be some thing like the CurrencyConverter market App in Android. Can any one help me in sorting out this issue.

Is there a way I can find what resource a particular ImageButton is set to, at any given time?
For eg: I have an ImageButton that I set to R.drawable.btn_on onCreate. Later, at some point, the ImageButton gets set to R.drawable.btn_off. I want to be able to check what resource the ImageButton is set to in my code.
I want to build an notepad-style application on android that will have syntax highlighting. But when I search around the web, I find the syntax highlighting can be done only through use of an awt class. How could I syntax highlight in maybe a custom EditText or TextView view? I know that the release of a syntax highlighter is sort of anticipated, so I want to add my syntax highlighter on the market.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to create an Android ImageButton in the xml file with a background image, and a smaller icon on top of that, right in the center. For some reason, it's not obvious how to do it, and documentation is no help.code...
However, no matter what I try (putting "wrap _ content" instead of absolute numbers on layout _ height and layout _ width, the icon remains in the top left corner of the button. If, however, I have no background image (i.e. a system default white button), the icon does go into the center. The button also goes into the top left corner when I use a color instead of an image for the background.
Why does this happen, and how would I actually get the behavior I want-- that is, a background image with the icon in the center?
In my own android xml file, how can I specify to use android's highlight color (orange) ?

I have a widget on my home screen with several ImageButtons which have default background images. Through the configuration activity, I can change the image on any of the ImageButtons. The problem is that when the screen is rotated, the image on the ImageButton disapears and it changes back to the default image.
I don't know why this happens or how to fix it

View 5 Replies View Relatedwhen I click on one item in the ListView that item's background changes to light gray, but when I continue to scroll through the list every 4th item has the background changed to light gray even though those other items have not been clicked. How do I make only the item I clicked be effected by the click?

First and foremost I want to be able to use the magnifying glass to relocate my cursor whenever I'm mid-text and realize that I've made a mistake while typing. Sure, I can just take a stab at the screen and hope I get it in the right place with one touch, but sometimes that doesn't work. For example: at the edge of the text box, next to the "send" button (landscape mode). I don't really like having to poke at the small space between the last word in my message and the send button after I've gone back to correct a letter or two. I've missed and hit "send" before. That's no good.
On rare occasions I can get the magnifying glass to come up, but it's usually a game of chance for me. If I hold my finger down on the screen to bring it up, a menu pops up. How can I bring up the magnifying glass a la iPod Touch for sifting through my messages?
After that, how do I highlight text for copying and pasting purposes?
I have a ListView in my Activity. I am trying to catch both a click and a long click (which should bring up a context menu).
ListView lv = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.MyListView); ... lv.setOnItemClickListener(this); lv.setOnCreateContextMenuListener(this); ...
I notice that if I have both the click and long click listeners up, I won't ever get the long click listener (i.e. the context menu). If I remove the setOnItemClickListener() call, i get a call into
@Override public void onCreateContextMenu(ContextMenu menu, View v, ContextMenu.ContextMenuInfo menuInfo) {

I have just started my career as an android programmer, and am currently relying heavily on the sample code and api examples. I have been working with this api example, to produce an expandable list of items (note this example does not use the ExpadableListView). In playing with the example, I tried to add another widget that would become visible and be gone at the same time as the text (mDialogue in the sample code). This works well with another TextView, but as soon as I tried to add a button widget, it stopped working. The list would expand on first click, showing my hidden TextView and Button, but it will not disappear on further clicks. The button is however, clickable, and I was able to set up an onClick listener to change the button text back and forth.I'm starting to wonder, is it just not possible to have a clickable item inside a clickable list item? Or is there some kind of work around? Would it solve my problem if I used ExpandableListView?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am seeing an annoying bug in WebView on the G1.I have a WebView that displays an HTML page. When the user clicks on a link, the link's text is highlighted. At this point, I call WebView.clearView(), and then WebView.loadDataWithBaseURL() to load the URL that the user has just clicked on.When the new page finally shows, the WebView somehow still remembers the previous highlight area. If the user clicks on the WebView again, a "phantom highlight" at the old location will flash quickly. The phantom highlight also appears when the user moves the trackball.

Basically I just want the background to be the depressed background, but I can't figure out how to set it. I'm using the following code, which I expect would scale the associated image to fit within the given dimensions of the button:
CODE:.....
The image is 64X64 and I was expecting to see 32X32 on the screen. However, the button draws with the original 64X64 size. I can re- sample the image down and create a new file but I'm curious why this approach didn't work.
I have problem with width of ImageButtons, it isn't the same size. I have experimented with all attributes for two hours and nothing. I create buttons at runtime and put inside row (also created at runtime).

I'm having a problem when setting the visibility of two image buttons one on top of the other. The idea is to implement a play/pause control. I'm trying to create a transparent (no button background) ImageButton that has a custom selector. I have the selector working against the button but I now want the selector drawables to cross-fade into each other.
I saw the TransitionDrawable object that can be represented in XML. Is there a way to connect this into my selector?
Below is the XML layout code to create the image button on the screen in the lower left corner of the screen. It currently goes from one image to the next abruptly ignoring the transition XML.
