Android :: Double Tap Slide Zoom

I have an idea for a better alternative to multitouch pinch zoom than just the double tap zoom. Many people complain that the double tap zoom isn't intuitive since it doesn't zoom at the level you want it too.I dont know how feasible my idea is and dont know how it could be implemented but I thought Id share it anyway.Double Tap Slide Zoom as I'm calling it is basically the same as double tap zooming except on the second tap you keep your finger on the screen and slide up to zoom in or slide down to zoom out.

Is it normal, when you double-tap on a website to zoom in, for the zoomed in portion to be nowhere near where you tapped?
I assumed that wherever you tapped, it zoomed in to that spot, but often it doesn't do that for me. Instead it might end up halfway up or down the page. Is that normal? It just happened on Wikipedia.
I'm using the stock browser.

So, I've been pretty disappointed to know that the Nexus 4, 7 and 10 have no 16:9 aspect ratios, which means that widescreen videos will have black bars displaying on the top.
Currently, on my iPhone 4S and 3rd generation iPad, I can double tap and "crop" the video, and this makes the video fill up the entire screen and videos looks really nice. However, on a Galaxy Note and a Galaxy S III, I've tried doing the same thing but they refuse to crop.
Is there something that I am missing or is there no double tap to zoom at all?

If I physically slide out the keyboard on my Moto Droid A855, it crashes my test app with the stack trace pasted below. I don't understand why? Also, if I start my app with the keyboard out, my app crashes immediately on startup. The app consists of an activity, which contains a viewflipper as the main view layout. I would like to have a button in my android application trigger a slide down view of a form. I want to have a view at the top of the screen,a list at the bottom of the screen, and I want to have the slide down form view appear between the two when a button is clicked.I have no problem showing the view, but can't seem to animate it from hidden to shown on the screen.Any ideas on how this could work?

Bet you are all thinking here's another idiot that doesn't know how to turn off notifications in the default android sms app?After installing Handcent I immediately disabled notifications in the default app so that only Handcent was generating them. This worked fine up until about 2 weeks ago when the default app started generating them. The option is definitely 100% disabled so I have no idea why it is still generating them. To make it worse even if I go into all messages with both Handcent and the default app my LED remains blue.

Is there a way/setting/app capable of being able to "double click" on an Icon while browsing on the phone. The way the company sets up my work calender is when I want to see what the schedule is I have to double click to open it. On a regular browser double clicking is no problem but on the EVO all it does is zoom in.

I am using following code to send sms message:
SmsManager sms = SmsManager.getDefault(); sms.sendTextMessage(phoneNo, null, message, null, null);
But when this code is executed two sms messages are sent. Does anybody have idea what can be a problem?

I'm hoping it is and I'm just too much of a newbie to find how (spent all morning googling and checking forums add youtube) for a way to customize my 7 home pages. I have beautiful widget for the clock and weather but all 7 screens have the same wallpaper and lock screen. Also the icons could use a little bling Maybe even a banner.
