My application needs to display the time. Rather then displaying time as 11:00 I am wondering whether it is possible to have to have static/paused/stopped analogue clock showing 11' o clock?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI need to create paused analog clock. Since I have never done any graphics/drawing before I am customizing Analogue widget defined in the core/java/android/widget.
The problem is when I create the class in my project following are the unresolved references: mContext com.android.internal.R mRight mLeft mTop mBottom
I know the most likely cause is com.android.internal is private and I need to use public but the problem I do not know what the public equivalent is. I have tried substituing it with android.R but that doesn't seem work either.
I can create a static widget without thinking, I can even create a widget like the analogue clock widget that will update itself, however, I can not for the life of me figure out how to create a widget that reacts to when a user clicks on it. Here is the best code sample that the developer documentation gives to what a widget activity should contain (the only other hint being the API demos, which only creates a static widget):

Is the best way to add some static text to a display to use a TextView?
Seems like there should be a TextLabel or TextStatic or something like that...
I'm having a little difficulties while trying to get a certain layout to work: I want to have list. List does not have to be scrollable, but should be shown completely. But the page itself should be able to scroll (with the lists in it), if the total content ist higher than the screen.

It only uses a small part of the screen (about 2 lines per list), instead of filling the available height, and the lists themselves can be scrolled. How can I change the layout to always show the whole lists but have the screen be scrollalbe?
i want to display a msg to the user (msg box or Toast) when exception happend in a static SQLite Database class that i use. the problem is that i cant call a non static method in a static class , how can i handle this. this is the class

I'm having some issues with the old "Cannot make a static reference to a non-static method" error in my Android program. I am creating a sand falling game (similar to the Powder Game) and I created a class called Control to create a Control Bar at the bottom of the screen with a slider for brush size (that works fine) and a button to pop up a Dialog to allow users to pick the selected element. However, when I call DemoActivity.showDialog(2) from my code, it gives the static reference to non-static error (DemoActivity is the main activity of my application). I also tried changing it to just Activity.showDialog(2), but I got exactly the same error!

I got my hands on a Sprint Samsung Moment couple of days ago and already am missing my little HTC Touch Vogue(Customized with Windows Mobile 6.5). I was always flashing all kinds of custom ROMs into the Vogue and realize it's not that easy on these android phones. Anyway, I would like to know if there are android apps that will display the Flip clock with the weather and also if there are widgets or apps which will display the email, text message and missed call count on the desktop. I don't care for the notification bar so much.
On another note, I am using K-9 Mail for email but now I get notification from both the stock email client as well as K-9. How does one make K-9 the default? The latest version of K-9 has taken out the Email frequency check from the settings so I'm not sure hot to set the interval for email check.

I have Eclipse Juno and I'm working on an app with that.
The main activity will have a scrollable menu that takes you to all the other activities.

I can't find any simple list tutorials. I can easily make a single line list work but I need to make a two line list and one that is static, not dynamic and no examples are out there for that. It's like if you want to make a 2 line list, you can only learn how to do it in the most code-heavy ridiculous way possible.
Essentially what I am looking for with the list is this: Item one: Centred, bold, non selectable title (Resources)
- Item two-??: two line list items, click-able to a new activity, title of the section on first line, description on the second line.
- Item ??: Centred, bold, non selectable title (Tools)
- Item ??-??: two line list items, click-able to a new activity, title of the section on first line, description on the second line.
Nothing dynamic that is ever going to change, no super complex wonkey calculations, just to simply have the data set in stone (preferably via XML) and to call it into the list.
I experimented with some of the other list views and no matter what I did, I could get, via editing the resources and NOT using Java, more that one item on a single line but it wouldn't format it properly according to the layout I guess because I haven't got the ID correct or whatever I don't know.
I mean, all the examples I've seen for a 2 line list are extraordinarily over-coded and just bloated. I mean I have a website I am still working on in C#/ASP.net that has far more complex things in it with half the code that I've seen for the examples of the two line lists.
I tried on my own to figure it out (I am decent with C# and vaguely familiar with Java, self taught, and programming for some other systems like Python, again all self-taught), but like ALL coding references, they're organised by the actual code you implement (that you don't know) instead of by what you want it to do (so you have to search the whole code base to find something that you don't know what it's called but know what it does). >:C

In one of my Activities I have a ListView that displays a list of locations. For each list item I want a little arrow icon that points in the direction of the corresponding location. I implemented this icon by extending ImageView. This custom View has a listener that reacts to changes of the device's orientation by rotating the icon image accordingly. I register the listener in the onAttachedToWindow() method and unregister it in onDetachedFromWindow(). This kind of works but the problem is that onDetachedFromWindow() sometimes gets called only a long time after the containing Activity has paused. Also, the whole layout overall seems a little hacky. So my question is: Is there a proper way to unregister the listeners or would you implement this in a completely different way to begin with?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had my Hero on Orange for 4 or 5 days now and apart from when I first switched on the phone the weather app has just said "No weather data available" and the clock/weather widget has just had my location. I have the "location by cell" thing switched on, and I did manage to get it working once with the GPS, but other than that it just displays my location. It's the same whatever location I am in. The other cities download the weather just fine (London, Paris, New York, etc.). It's not like I'm somewhere tiny either, I am in Bromley. It doesn't make any difference whether I'm using WiFi or 3G.

The handler sublass is an inner class of the activity and needs to access its state. I am wondering if there is any performance difference between making the handler subclass static and passing in the activity explicitly in its constructor or making the subclass an "instance class" and letting the vm worry about my accessing members of the containing activity.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using our country local brand walton primo gh2 phone. In notification area i see "Downloading English (US) ", under it download paused. First three or four time i tapped and hold and its took me to Language and input option and shows me that update and every time it stacked on 64%. after that when i again i tapped and hold it shows just app info nothing else and i cant remove it from my notification area. Its very annoying to see and some file goes to queue under it too download never start and i have to restart downloads. I am using android 4.2.2.

I'm trying to determine whether or not my phone is defective, or if this is a current problem with the Cliq.
Of the apps I've downloaded, only a few of them have worked. Of those few that work, some don't work right. Has anyone had problems with these apps crashing on them, or just not working correctly?

- WeatherBug (kept showing the wrong location, crashed when trying to change location)
- Snake - doesn't work just says its "paused"

There have been others, but usually I just uninstall them right after discovering it doesn't work right.
Ok so I have created about 8 different clock widgets and I am trying to combine all of them into one clock pack... Is there anyway to combine 8 clocks into one apk file to put on the market place?

All the posts I have read told that any title bar changes we can make only before setContentView() call.
I am facing one problem in message view. Bacically what I need to do is in message view I want to mark any telephone number or web address in different color.
