Does anyone know how to grab FAA flight data to be displayed on google maps? I'm trying to create an android app but I can't seem to find where to get those feeds? There are so many flight tracker apps out there so there must be some available API right?

View 6 Replies View RelatedFor my CS bachelors I am doing a Senior project using android and google maps.My vision was to do a (relatively) simple Dijkstra shortest path using google maps road data. I was going to add elevation change along with 2D distance. I am doing well playing with maps in android but I am completely stumped trying to access google maps data in any sort of searchable form.How would I go about accessing the data for say intersections of roads (lat/long) in a particular area?There has to be a way to pull that data in some sort of tree form. It seems like it may be possible with kml?Any pointers would be awesome.I want my paths to follow roads but If i cant this is going to turn into an orienteering application fairly fast.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to display GoogleMaps in my application, but instead of map I just get an empty screen with crosses and Google logo in the bottom left corner. I'm using Internet permission in manifest file, just as the library "com.google.android.maps". I have also supported my application with Android Maps API key and I placed it in layout as android:apiKey value for MapView, but it still can't display the map.

I have used two different API Key values, regarding whether I signed the application with debug or my own created keystore, but it didn't work with none of them.
Is there a way to display points of interest like gas stations, hospitals etc., using google maps?

The android db is synchronized with remote db. I'm getting the points from the database, creating kml file from them and uploading in to the map. The problem is that the areas I've created are not appearing where they should. They're somewhere on the ocean.
I thought that's because I'm running this code in android:

So basically I'm doing microdegrees here. I thought that dividing lat and long from db by 1E6 would do the trick but it didn't. Can someone please help me on that one?

At this time we were still at the airport, so I couldn't just say "map of nearest haircut". So I got the map to display the embassy suites, but then couldn't get it to ALSO display places to get a haircut. It was one or the other. I worked on it for about an hour but couldn't figure this one out. Is there a way to display multiple results?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI noticed that google maps does not display anything when at the highest magnification on my droid. This is true when satellite is on or off. Have any of you noticed this? I find it works like this when wifi is on or off.
I see a gray background with a few magnifying glasses instead. I thought it might be because there are no images near my house at this level, so I tried Manhattan near MSG and still did not find anything at the highest mag level.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI use HTC Desire (updated to Froyo) and at home Google Maps Navigation works great and I never worry about the data connection because I have a large data allowance each month. But I'm now in Germany for a few days and I don't really want to pay roaming rates. So, I find that I can of course use the hotel wifi to plot the route.
This can work but most of the time it doesn't. The problem is that the route is not downloaded (at least not completely) until the phone has a GPS fix. Usually this happens after I'm out of range of the wifi signal and so I have no route to navigate. Is there a way of downloading the route without needing the satellite fix to validate it? This would make life so much simpler!
I'm working on an Android project that focuses on knowing how close you are to buildings. I wanted to know if there is some way to extract the geographic information about the outlines of buildings out of the Google Maps API. The functionality I'm looking for is similar to what's going on in this app. (Click the link near the top of the page that says "View Live Sample".)

I thought it may have something to do with google collecting location data in the background so turned off 'use wireless networks' in location settings. This seems to have fixed the problem but is there a way of having this setting enabled so the phone only uses 3G when in an application rather than using my data usage without being in any particular program?

View 9 Replies View RelatedIs Google Latitude available in the UK or not, because it doesn't seem to be working for me? I have received the RC9 update for G1 and have Google Maps 3.0. Is there an a Google Latitude application that I should have or do I access everything through Google Maps? When I go the www.google.com/latitude on my G1, it offers me the option of "launching" Latitude but it just takes me to Google Maps. From there, I cannot see the locations of my Google "friends" (who have agreed to show location), neither does my own location show up on the Latitude homepage on the web (I have settings turned to "detect my location automatically").

All my google applications like Gmail, Maps, Play,Google Plus are working fine in WIFI.But when i try to refresh or update these application thro Airtel 3g,i am getting No Connection Error.
All my 3rd party apps like Facebook,Whatsapp are working fine in 3G.
I'm using the latest version of Google Maps on JB 4.2.2 [Nexus 4]..I noticed that I cannot edit the names of my locations in "My Places" in the phone app. So I used Google Bookmarks (google.com/bookmarks) from my PC to edit/rename My Places. However, the names do not sync or carry through to the Google Maps app on the phone. The names in the app are still the generic names, coordinates or street names.
Is there any way to change the names of My Places and get them to sync with the phone app? Really baffling!

The reason for this posting is because I'm looking for a certain application. I know there are many flight tracker apps out there but I seem to remember hearing about on app which you could just point your phone at a specific airplane it would give you information about where it originated and where it was headed, it was great because you didn't have to enter any information and you could track random flights that you saw going overhead.
