I just downloaded DoggCatcher podcast app. On startup, it had several default feeds like This American Life and This Week in Tech, etc.How do I delete those feeds from DoggCatcher?

I am new to android and the desire, just upgraded from a nokia N96. I am running 2.2 android. A couple of questions regarding Rss feeds.
1. From the home screen, I can slide the screen to the left, twice and add a news feed. Can I add more than one feed here, and how can I change the one I have?
2. In "all apps > news" can I delete any of the pre installed news feeds?
What is the best RSS reader? I want to be able to read full stories off line after they've been downloaded. I've tried AP Mobile and Express News, they both have ugly GUI and rarely update - properly. Looking for a nice GUI and some default feeds.

I have a terminal emulator installed, so I think that would be the place to start, but am unsure if I can delete anything that's not on the SD card. I'm more worried what may happen if I do this. My reasoning for doing this is that I hate the built in ringtones, and have placed mp3's on the sdcard under /Ringtones and they show up in my Ring tones (no need to use the media player to do so). I have to browse through the ton of crappy tones to select the ones I'd like (obviously this isn't really a space issue, more convenience )

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn another post on Android forums, one of the DoggCatcher developers has been monitoring the forum for ideas for enhancement, and requested Android forums' users share ideas for feature enhancements of their Android podcatcher application. I'm starting this post to be a place to capture DoggCatcher-specific requests for enhancement of the app. (DoggCatcher does have their own online forum, but I'm starting this thread for those Android users who don't want to maintain an online account and id/password to a forum for each app downloaded onto our Android device.) Please be sure you try to write a decent Title for each future request post you start. That will make it easier to discuss amongst other users and help ensure we are all on the same page when discussing a potential feature.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am coming from iPod Touch's native app, so that is what I have to compare it to. What I am looking for is an app that can subscribe to my podcasts, download them automatically as new episodes become available (or notify me if one is available to stream), delete them when listened to (if downloaded and not streamed) and remember my playback position if I have to do something else for a bit. Which app is better for these things?
Also, does either have a feature where it will only download the latest episodes when in WiFi range only, to save on bandwidth usage? And, is there an option on either to press a single button to have it go see if there are any new episodes of my subscribed podcasts (like the "refresh" in iTunes)?
I love my podcast shows like from Cnet ( 404, BOL, Atlas Android, Pregame,etc) and Revision3 ( appjudgment, tekzilla, the dig real, etc..), but right now I have been using Podkast, because it's free, it's good but I notice that shows take to update or refresh new content. So I can go ahead and download them before I leave to work. I love the fact, that I can download them in the background, but I would have to choose to do so, one by one manually and then let it download. I would like for them to download on the background as soon new contents from my favorites are available. I hear Doggcatcher is good, but anybody who has it, can you give some feedback of it, and what features are worth paying for $6.

View 6 Replies View RelatedAll you need to do is get the YouTube channel url and use Subscribe YouTube podcast channel RSS feed as MP4, FLV or PSP video feed, convert YouTube channel into FLV RSS feed, subscribe to YouTube in iTunes, subscribe to YouTube feed in your favorite podcast application. Watch YouTube feed offline, extract f to get a Doggcatcher url that's compatible. For format, select MP4 (iTunes). I then email myself the URLs and copy and paste into Doggcatcher.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have two sources of audio: the music player and Doggcatcher for podcasts. Whenever I listen to a track in the music player and then stop listening, it remembers and keeps it "ready". Then I go and listen to a podcast and, again, the last thing played remains ready to play at any point. So, here is the problem. When I go to listen to music, I can get into the music player and hit play, no problem. But, the first time I use the inline remote to pause and then play, that "play" command turns on the podcast player as well and BOTH start playing, music and podcast.
Oddly, when I am just in Doggcatcher and play a podcast, the inline remote will not automatically start the music player. Is there a way to make sure Doggcatcher will not start when I want to listen to the music player? I suppose I could load up Google Listen and see what would happen with that program instead.
I'm using the SAX parser to read some RSS feeds and have found a problem. Some feeds, for example CNN Money Top Stories, have embedded some characters in their content, i.e. the copyright symbol. Well, that's not valid XML and the SAX Parser fails with an exception "invalid token". The only help I have seen given is to fix the XML at the source and that's not an option obviously. So, I can think of 2 options and they both stink:
(a) read the content first, scrub it, and then pass it to the parser.
(b) Use DOM instead of SAX.
What I *want* to do is make the parser a little more forgiving and just accept or discard/ignore the bad text. I'm not have any luck with setErrorHandler. My error handler does not get called.
I would like to know how hard would it be to to build RSS feeds app but only specific ones. For example politics: Pull rss feeds news from politico.com, cnn.com, fox.com etc..... and than display on G1... I would love some info on that and if someone can build such thing. ...am interested.

This is all being done via android.Util.Xml, & is an adaptation of the code shown here. An example RSS feed that I'm trying to use is the BBC News RSS feed. However, media is an additional namespace & (probably) as a result my parser isn't working as it should. A version of my parse method is below. Is there any (no doubt simple) way to get my list of image URLs working?

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo I am looking into Podcasts and RSS Feeds. I have used iTunes in the past to subscribe and watch podcasts, but havent been using iTunes much lately. RSS Feeds I am absolutely new to, and havent yet tried it out. From what I have read RSS Readers (like Google Reader) can subscribe to podcasts, but what about my phone? Would I need a separate RSS reader app, and would it sync with the subscriptions as my PC reader? Are there phone readers that support Video Podcasts?
The other option I saw was to use iTunes and tweak it to allow Podcasts to sync with your Android Device, but Im not sure if this method works with Videos. Im wondering which path is better and easier to manage? It seems easier to find and subscribe to videos using iTunes, but if there is another way, Im all for ditching iTunes completely. I am setting up Googe Reader for RSS feeds either way, I guess thats a separate issue, what I am mainly concerned with is syncing RSS feeds with my phone, and watching Video Podcasts on my Phone.

Strangely, when I download the feed XML on the device, bundle it inside the raw folder and then run the same code. Everything works fine. What could be the problem here? How do I validate the XML before I parse it on device?
Essentially, I am looking for a podcatcher that will work with casts requiring authentication (HTTPS). I have several classes I would like to grab the feeds for, but require a login/password and none of the podcatchers I have tried work (Listen, DoggCatcher...etc). It doesn't have to be fancy, I just want something to listen to lectures on while on the fly and not have to worry about constantly syncing with a computer.
