Do we have more information about the availability of the Android SDK cupcake version? A first phone running on Cupcake should be available this month in France and it should be great to have a SDK exactly the same

I've upgraded my ADP1 to cupcake through the official roms: http://www.htc.com/ www/ support /android/adp.html#s3 However, the official roms equiped ONLY English locale now. Will the official ADP1 roms equip other locales (e.g., Chinese) in the future?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have heard a lot about this code base, but have seen nothing.The possabilities are amazing, why are we so limited. If the sceen is multitouch capable, why not use it? When will we see a fix for the issue with the talk button on the headset, or the ability to run apps from the sd card, or the ability to stop running apps. This android os is linux based, yet these issues are holding us back? I am invested in this platform, and I really believe this is important. I hope to see more functionality. We have a platform that can truely compete with the iphone, but we must work hard to perserve our image.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI currently have a service called ConnectionService. It instantiates a Connection object that gives me access to a controller of TCP.
I start the service from a splash screen activity, which sends and intent and starts my "main" activity once a connection has been established. In the "main" activity, I can access my Connection object and communicate with the controller. However, when I start a new activity from the "main" activity and bind to the service, I get a NullPointerException when I try to call methods in the ConnectionService.
I wanted to check the availability of another app in Market from my app. Based on this I will have to give a message saying "Coming soon" or show the other app in Market. I am using the following intent

Now, how can I catch the result which would say if the Market was able to find this package or not?
What is the best way to check if street view is available for a GeoPoint location? There seems to be no way of figuring this out, but the map google app grays out the street view button if not available?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an application that is loading the street view application at a given latitude and longitude. I was wondering if anyone knows a way of determining if a streetview is available at a specific location, so that instead of loading the streetview and trying to download a view somewhere where it is unavailable, ultimately throwing an error, I can display a message instead. The maps application can do it but I can't seem to find a way using the android api, maps api or any of the intent uri's.

View 9 Replies View RelatedAlright.. I had a Motoq9M for a couple of years.. and such a bad experience.. I was skeptical about EVER buying another motorola again.. Alas.. I refuse to give up my verizon coverage.. and bought a Droid.. aand Im ALMOST hopeless with some of this stuff. The first week everything worked great, then as I started adding apps, things have gotten hinky.
Problem 1:
I set up a "lock pattern" and my screen's timeout time is 30sec. Whenever I'd make a call even after I'd unlock it.. or I've answered the phone and unlocked it.. literally 2-3 secs later.. the phone would blackout and lock again.. WTF? soo.. i disabled the lock option.. problem solved.. but now I don't want to re-lock it if it's going to bug up again.
Problem 2:
I seem to have an unremovable facebook app... can't delete it from settings, and I can't delete it with an un-install app it doesn't even show up to look at in app management in settings.. uhh Help.. because
I USED to be able to go to a friends photos, and choose the "set as" option as a contact photo or a wallpaper.. it started to only do it once in a while .. and now I can't do it at all.. I REALLY want that ability back.
Problem 3:
half the time I go into my task killer, and apps I've never even touched to activate are randomly running in the background.. and when i go to look at my SD card space availability and its says unavailable..

I'm creating it by calling showDialog with the display's id. The onCreateDialog handler logs fine and I can step through it without an issue, but I've attached it since it seems like I'm missing something:

Is there something missing from this? Some questions have talked about having this problem when creating a dialog from onCreate, which happen because the activity isn't created yet, but this is coming from a call from a menu object, and the appContext variable seems like it is correctly populated in the debugger.
I'm writing an application which connects to a back office site. The backoffice site contains a whole slew of JavaScript functions, at least 100 times the average site. Unfortunately it does not load them, and causes much of the functionality to not work properly. So I am running a test. I put a page out on my server which loads the FireBugLite javascript text. Its a lot of javascript and perfect to test and see if the Android WebView will load it. The WebView loads nothing, but the browser loads the Firebug Icon. What on earth would make the difference, why can it run in the browser and not in my WebView? Any suggestions.
More background information, in order to get the stinking backoffice application available on a Droid (or any other platform except windows) I needed to trick the bakcoffice application to believe what's accessing the website is Internet Explorer. I do this by modifying the WebView User Agent.Also for this application I've slimmed my landing page, so I could give you the source to offer me aid. package ksc.myKMB;
