I am trying to set up multiple Android development environments on single Linux Debian machine. Everything works fine for one user. But whenever second user on the same machine tries to launch Eclipse (with ADT) there is an error displayed, that 8700 port is being used. Therefore, the second user is unable to debug. I have researched this issue myself and tried following solutions, but I am yet unsuccessful: 1) I have changed the DDMS port in Eclipse, for the second user to 8740 (Window -> Preferences -> Android -> DDMS -> Base local debugger port). No use: Eclipse still opens 8700 port for listening (showed by netstat and strace). 2) I have run the DDMS before running Eclipse, changed the port in it to be 8740 (File -> Preferences -> Debugger -> Port of selected VM). Not handy to have DDMS running outside Eclipse, Eclipse still opens 8700 port for listening. 3) Tried looking in the source code of ADT, found the reference where the 8700 port is passed and opened, it looks ok though and leaves me without a clue. 4) I have found several similar threads, but none of them helped my case (piled below for reference): 4.1) http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_thread/threa...

I can build a daemon with my algorithm code and main function.I put all files in one folder under /development and make This executable file works successfully
Now I want to separate my algorithm code and main function code. I hope to build a binary library with my algorithm code and main function will link this binary library to use.
Where to put my algorithm code to create binary library and how to link this binary library in main function code?
You know how google docs can allow you to share a doc to be edited real time just like a wave or anything else can?I think that idea should be extended to the code creation process so that coding can be done on the cloud as well. This way, depending on a system like mercurial to do a complex set of updates wouldn't be near as much because if two users were to edit the same document at the same time there would be only one submission.it would work just like this for 2+ workers on any single document! I think it's a great idea!

We receive builds from the developer - would we be able to take those builds to another developer and he would easily be able to continue programming on the same builds?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am developing droid apps with eclipse (new to both) and have a basic Layout question. When using the layout tab (rather than the coding tab) in my main.xml, I am trying to create a home screen for when my app opens.
There is going to be the logo at the top center, then 3 simple buttons below, all centered. How do I go about formatting the Logo so it maintains a size relative to the person's screen size, and stays in the center?
I don't want to write sloppy code to where my program looks fine (UI wise) on my screen and is poorly formatted on other's screens. Also, is there good documentation explaining all of the Property values in the layout view?
I can't find the source code for the Android Development Tools Plugin for Eclipse. It seems to have been moved a few times, and when I google the question, the answers point to the wrong places. Also http://source.android.com/discuss seems to be down.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am a Delphi programmer and have written, over the years, hundreds of classes and routines which I can use in every Delphi program I write. This library is called d lib and can be *used in every Delphi program by putting this folder in my library path and using one of the units in the uses section of a Delphi unit. Being completely new to Java and Android development, I am wondering how to do this in s similar way. So my question, how can I write own classes, put them in some global folder, and use these classes and routines in every Android program I write ? I know this is a basic question, which I can probably find out by searching Google and trying it out in Eclipse, but if someone can put me on the right track, I know I will save much time.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a simple text based game in which I ask a question based on a movie. The list of movie's is in a text file which I've included in res/raw. So basically I want to have a default string, say "Who acted in", followed by the name of the movie. Could I have the first string (along with a submit button etc) in my res/layout/main.xml file, and follow that with the movies name, after I've extracted it from the text file in my activity, or does the layout have to be defined in one place only?

On button press, I would like an image to be added to the screen, directly under the spinner and with left alignment. When I press the button again, I want another image to be added to the screen.
So if I pressed the add beer button, a drawable of a beer would appear below the spinner. If I pressed the add beer button again, I want there to be TWO drawables of beers under the spinner, preferably with them being added from the right.
(Also, having them reach their width limit, wrapping around, and starting again on the left, but below a full line, would be AWESOME)
I can't figure out how to do this. I assume adding a ImageView in code to a relative layout (because it needs to be positioned to the right) would be the best route, but if it's possible in xml I'd be more than happy to use that.
I need a JavaScript code to create Live Wallpaper.

I have placed an icon on the status bar. I would like to run a method of another class whenever the user selects that icon. I've seen similar functionality used in volume icons that sit on the status bar that allow a user to raise or lower the volume when the icon is clicked. However, these icons are on the right side of the status bar, and from what I've seen, I'm not allowed to put an icon there. I don't know if that kind of functionality is available to left side icons. So basically, I'm looking for how to run a function when a status bar icon is clicked. I don't want to open an activity, I just want to run a function.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI like the idea of the Alliance, it is very logical. It raises a question for me though. How do they intend to run apps seamlessly across multiple operating systems? Will the apps all have to be developed in something like Java? I am studying mobile app development, targeting the Android OS, and using Java. I was about to order a load of books(eg hello android) on developing apps for Android today, but I worry the new Alliance platform/technology might render these books and my initial studies obsolete in some way.
