I am using MediaStore.Images.Media.insertImage(ContentResolver cr, String imagePath, String name, String description) function to insert a newly created image into gallery. System is naming the file by default, but its different than names of pictures taken by original app(Time stamp). Is there easy way to set it up?

The odd thing is the huge size of the memory trying to be allocated is always reported as 10,077,696 (x99c600). However, the image file is much smaller, typically around 750,000 bytes.Any suggestions on how to get around this problem? View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen calling, roughly 3 out of 10 calls my phone just spontaneously reboots. It does no matter if I get called or if I am calling. It usually happens straight after a connection is established but in rare cases it also happens during the call. It had this since the beginning when I even did not install 1 app yet.
Other then the calling issue the phone is working flawlessly. I am running the stock Android 4.0.3 HTC ONE V (which I recently rooted, but the problem exists already before the rooting)

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to use the camcorder bit of my HTC Desire, and need to use it quite urgently. Wouldn't you know the damn thing has gone buggy just as I need to use it. It will NOT record, and it freezes the phone. Only putting it to sleep, or holding the Home key and choosing another recent app will stop it. However, it jams up the whole phone, which is evident when I check on System Panel, the CPU is constantly running at 100% Ridiculous. say I've ever seen a problem like this before, but I suppose I've not used the camcorder bit since the 2.2 update. I am at a loss at the moment as to what to do. I'll be honest and say my phone has experienced odd problems since getting that update. The extra "features" really aren't worth the bother I am now having.

Both these mobiles don't have a front camera in it. Is it possible to make a video call from these devices without a front camera?

I am running a CM11 nightly of KitKat 4.4.1 on a VZW Note II, however I have had this issue with other devices, carriers, Android versions, etc. so I have always assumed it is just the way Android works.
Basically if an app that is currently using the camera (Camera app, barcode scanner, etc) crashes or hangs and gets force-closed, opening any camera app after that seems to always give me either a "can't connect to camera" error or a black screen instead of the viewfinder. In these cases, a simple reboot fixes the issue and I can use the camera again, but this is inconvenient for two reasons:
1. A reboot on my phone takes 45-60 seconds, by which time whatever I wanted a picture of is usually gone or changed.
2. Rebooting means that any apps that don't save the data constantly but run in the background are restarted and I lose the progress. Mainly I am referring to Chrome incognito tabs, but also apps that don't save in-progress data such as puzzle games or video players.
With my limited knowledge of Linux and my slightly less limited knowledge of operating systems in general, I know that sometimes a temporary lock file is Created to prevent other apps/programs from modifying or accessing a file or program until the lock is released. Does that kind of situation apply here, such as a camera lock file being created when camera access is started and then not able to be released if the app crashes.? Also, if that does apply, would manually deleting the lock file or creating a script that does it for me when it is run allow access to the camera again without rebooting? And if that doesn't apply, is there any way to regain camera access without rebooting when this occurs?
Is it possible to get a list/cursor of all images taken by the camera? I would like to somehow be notified when the camera takes a picture, ie when the database of images changes. Currently I can use a contentobserver with the MediaStore.Images.Media.External_Content_URI, but that fires off a notification if any photo is added to the SD (ie a photo is download, another app adds one...)...is there any way to do this?

Phone reboots while taking picture using night mode, without LED fash turned on. I dont know why is that so, but i tried everything to see is it the camera app, android system or just phone. View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm just looking for some insight into what would be the best way for me to store images as part of my app. I have an activity that represents a 'Job' which has a couple of edittext's and underneath was planning on using the Gallery component to show images relevant to this job. The job data is stored in a database (on the sdcard) so was also thinking of creating a table to store 'JobImages' and having each image stored as a byte array.
But I'm not sure if it would be better to store the images directly on sdcard under a folder structure specific to my application and the job. E.g. using the job ID number as a folder name. Depending on which method I use will greatly determine the code that goes into an 'adapter' that allows me to bind to the gallery component so before I begin I was wondering if anyone has had the same design problem and what option they chose.
The image size is about 1mg, which takes long time to transfer to server in 3G network. How can I reduce the resolution of image ? Is there any parameter we can set before taken picture?

What could be wrong? The file in question is there because I launched Intent(Intent.ACTION_PICK, android.provider.MediaStore.Images.Media.INTERNAL_CONTENT_URI) in another method and got back the Uri of the picked image from the returned intent.
I have a SurfaceView that is being used to draw custom animations and I would like to overlay them onto a live-feed from the phone's camera. Currently, the SurfaceView that contains the animations has a white- background, but if I were to overlay them onto the phone's camera feed, they would have to be transparent. The camera and animation drawing cannot be done on the same SurfaceView. Is it possible to make a SurfaceView transparent? What is the best course to pursue the use of multiple views? My end goal is to essentially overlay the contents of another SurfaceView onto the Camera SurfaceView.

I guess this question has been asked before, but I can't seem to find a proper answer/solution. Have a note-taking app, which allows to take pictures. For that I start an intent, that starts up the built-in camera-app. So far so good. But when I show that image in my app, it's in a much smaller format The funny/weird thing is, that the camera-app did take a full-resolution picture! But for some reason I can't get the full version to show in my app? So, when I use the standard Android Gallery app, and go to that picture, it is very obvious that it's full size (I can zoom in and see details I really can't see when I zoom in, in my own app). Also, the dimensions are really those of the original picture, taken with the 5MP camera. In my app, they are very small. My phone has Android 2.2, but the same happens on my emulator (Android 2.1). How should I retrieve the pictures in my app? Tried a couple of ways, but none works :( Don't need a complete example (allthough that's very welcome), just a few clues are enough to search for myself.

I know this is because the user agent is set to Android, but if I set it to desktop instead websites appear too small and the formatting isn't laid out to be more suitable for phones. Is there any way of having the best of both? Having the formatting optimisation without heavily compressing the images when I click on them?
I'm not really feeling the love for the quality of the images the Desire produces, mainly due to blue cast each image seems to have. If i want to keep an image i find I have to colour correct it with Photoshop which i hope you can appreciate is kind of annoying! Also, and this doesn't happen all the time but the screen sometimes splits in two/three when taking a photo which again is bloody annoying. Is this a known issue is there a software fix or do i have a duff unit and need to speak to HTC to repair under warranty.
