Is there a method for controling an unrooted droid remotely from a PC? Everything I'm finding requires a rooted phone. I'd especially like being able to control it wirelessly. For my uses, WiFi and USB really don't provide any advantage over just picking up the phone.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo this morning, the alarm goes off on my Droid2 and everything is fine. About an hour later the screen froze and would not unlock or slide. It was absolutely frozen. I was using the stock charger last night. I took it by a Verizon store and the rep pulled the battery and then it started back up with no problem. The big problem is he took ATK (free pre installed version) and killed all the apps and proceeded to tell me how I had to do this. I said "dude, their was nothing running last night and I have not even downloaded any new apps, etc..." I just got the phone on Friday of last week. I really am not a fan of ATK and he tried to tell me if I don't do this, the phone will freeze.

View 9 Replies View RelatedFor some strange reason I can't seem to set-up my personal e-mail account on this Droid phone. I click on "e-mail", I type in my e-mail address and my password, and then I click "next". And then I get a message that says my username and/or password does not match. But I am positive it does, as I have gone online to test it. I have tried retyping my username and passwrod over and over again without any success. I can't get passed that screen.
I have Verizon FiOS at my house, so my e-mail is set-up through Verizon/Yahoo.
Between rooted and Unrooted? I see it being brought up all the time in these forums? And when I get my EVO what should I do?
View 3 Replies View RelatedPerhaps I will regret posting this in that the answer is obvious, and I am not very bright, but I'd like to get some help upgrading from Droid 2 from Droid. Both are Verizon phones.I understand that my personal data will move as it is tied to my gmail account that runs my phone. So moving that is easy. But what about all my apps, my pictures, the messages I kept in my visual voicemail application? When I asked Verizon, the rep said I should just use the SD card from the Droid in the Droid 2. Is it really that simple? If moving the SD card is the solution, what do you do if you want to upgrade to a larger SD card?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSeems like I got NO actual feedback from the useless reviews of the droid 2 so far so I'm listing the differences that I have noticed on mine so far.
1: it loads up all your old apps and updates them automatically upon activation, all my droid replacement refurbs didn't do this
2: its faster (can't tell how much until I've used it for a few weeks) but transitions through screens are smoother
3: it comes with motoblur supposedly, I don't even know what this is, so I can't tell any difference, thus anyone who wants a droid 2 but to have it operate like a droid 1...mine does...so uhhh I don't get it.
4: the graphics are different, icons are different, I like both the droid 1 on 2.2 and the droid 2, they are similar but the colors are often reversed in a lot of menus
5: ergonomically it feels better, camera button and volume button are much better feeling.
6: battery door cover looks almost identical but the foam is thicker and it is on their tighter than any of my 4 droid 1's
7: keyboard is much more tactile with the raised buttons and I like the arrows much better than the dpad, however I'll use the pre-installed swype for most my typing since that's what I'm used to.
8: calendar still doesn't scroll in month mode LAME only scrolls in week mode
9: camera mode is faster on droid 2..I think....I initially started it and droid 1 took 10 seconds to load, but after a battery pull they are closer in speed, so hard to say if there's an actual difference.
10: the unlock swipe takes longer on the droid 2...dunno why
11: on droid 1...gmail would always get confused on conversations that were of the same subject line for example if the subject was blank, it would combine emails from different senders....and it wouldn't show the correct email unless you got in the emial out and back in, droid 2 doesn't have this problem, it just shows EVERY email in the list, and you can scroll from oldest to newest...big improvement
12: start up time from power on is about 2 seconds faster on droid 2...not really a marked difference
13: all the icons are different...I actually perfer all the icons on the droid 1 versus the droid 2...but i'm not that 14: forgot to mention they changed the order and icon for the menu / back / home / search buttons on the screen...this is just annoying..why did you have to change the order...lol..I'm used to my back being all the way on the left, now it's 2nd from the right.
15: the alarm is much improved, it used to switch between portrait and landscape as you try to snooze thus cancelling the alarm, it now functions where the entire screen is the snooze and in order to cancel you have to slide to unlock...so to speak
15: Gallery is improved, it allows scrolling up and down with the slider that's found in contacts and it references the dates the pics were taken so you know how old of pics you're searching through
16: Camera has integrated gps function to show where photo was taken
17: separate camcorder app
18: power, volume, and camera buttons feel much better, fit and finish is much tighter
19: usb fits much tighter then before
20: speed while loading memory heavy application is greatly improved such as raging thunder 2, the load time is about 5 seconds faster.
21: has DNLA so you can share photos / audio / video with tv's or computers of the same DNLA technology
22: the market is different: shows comments in their own window AND allows for automatic updating, you can select this per app, I don't remember this being on my 2.2 droid 1???
Do you know of any app (exactly like PicMe Screen Grabber) that I can display my phone on my desktop for an unrooted phone?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI seen to have a problem installing and updating pretty much all apps from the market. I am running anbranded and unrooted desire on 2.2. I have successfully downloaded nearly 50 apps from the market but recently it doesn't seem to install any apps including updates. I did find one that was ok (retro camera which I tried just to see) but it wont update sppedview, folder organizer lite or quick system info pro. It also doesn't seem to want to let me install quite a few other apps that I have tried (some alarm apps and some poker ones).

View 3 Replies View RelatedI thought I remember seeing a thread about this, but couldnt find it. got a new replacement from sprint a few weeks ago. Ever since, the internet (3g) is horribly slow. Speed tests confirm the 3g will not get above 200kbps ever, no matter where I am. So obviously, I know this is a hardware problem, as sprint has already refreshed my network, and made me do a hard reset.They want me to take it into a store so they can "check it out" before they send me a new one. Problem is, I'm rooted. I used unrevoked, and am still on the stock rom, so it should look normal. The only thing I rooted for is to be able to use wireless tether. So the question is, can I just remove the superuser app and wireless tether temporarily while they check it out? Or should (can) I flash S-on first too? I know how to unroot, but I really dont want to have to spend a few hours re-installing all my apps and settings after.

I have purchased several root-only apps from the market and I would like to know if what will happen to them during the process. Of course I know that when I unroot I will lose everything and then not be able to use them. But once I root my new phone will I be able to reinstall them? View 26 Replies View RelatedI was able to change the boot animation before Froyu using the procedure at http://androidforums.com/tips-tricks-evo-4g/109120-how-install-new-boot-animation-without-root.html.After Froyo, I've tried to push the zip file as VZW_bootanimation.zip and bootanimation.zip to both /data/local and /system/customize/resource (I can't write to that location, I think it's for rooted phones only). None of these four options worked.What am I missing? That native boot animation is nasty.

View 12 Replies View RelatedHaving really inconsistent data access on my unrooted HTC Desire/Orange.
Normally either 4 things happen:
1. The phone constantly flicks between 3G and H.
2. The phone will just hang in 3G/H
3. The phone says there is no data connection.
4. Reluctant to use G when 3G appears to be unavailable.
At first I thought it was my phone but really it only happens in certain places which indicates a signal issue. This is North London though, not countryside.
However sometimes rebooting the phone or reconnecting the data works, which indicates a phone problem. However reconnecting the mobile can take a very long time which indicates a signal problem.
Then the other day I was playing with other SIMs when mine just would not connect. My friend's Virgin Mobile worked fine. Then I tried a spare Orange SIM card and it went straight into G and stayed there. I think it could be a 2G SIM card. The SIM card appeared to get a higher signal strength as well. Could my SIM really cause a difference?
It might be an app, but if is it will be hard to track down.
Changing my phone will be a hassle i'm sure so only want to do this in the last resort. I can't seem to nail the problem down. Does anyone else have data problems with their Desire on Orange? Especially in London?
Has anyone else noticed that shootme no longer works with unrooted evo?
