I developed a webservice in .net and I'm trying to call it in Android. To call the webservice I'm using ksoap2.

I have not found any convinient way to create something like a jaxws wrapperclass for an existing Soap Webservice - like in full Java. Jaxws is unfortunately not avaliable in the sdk. Is there any was to do this without using any external libs? Are there any external libs at all yet?

I am trying to connect to a site on my intranet (its not localhost). I've tried the following:
Setting Proxy inside Eclipse settings. Setting my own localhost and writing a small php script that takes the url, connects to it and then gets the file from the intranet site - This works from the Browser though! It does not work when I use the 10.0.2.2 IP address

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had a weird issue that has sprung up twice now with making phone calls and I wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing the same thing. Visually everything looks like it is functional with my phone service on the phone. I have bars, nothing out of the ordinary. However, I can't make any outbound calls either through my contacts or by manually dialing. I the number pad and it makes the response noise but doesn't actually type the number. In contacts, I hit call and the same thing happens. The fix I have found is just to soft boot the phone. Now I hear you all saying "No big deal, just restart." Yeah, it is no big deal unless I have to make a call in an emergency say calling 911 or things of that nature. Waiting for 5 minutes for my phone to reboot in an emergency can cost lives. I know I am being a little dramatic, but c'mon, at the end of the day, it is a phone and it is having trouble making calls.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI own a Samsung Galaxy S SGH-i896 and I decided to try and put on Cognition for a test, but before that, I did a android backup using ROM Manager. Now I thought this would save me in any situation...
So I flashed it over to Cognition, and it refused to connect to Rogers (as I expected) however, when I went to restore back, I would still get the AT&T start up, and the video was replaced by text that said "Android" in a weird font. I managed to flash it back to a stock AT&T ROM which worked well, but still wouldn't connect to the Rogers network.
I had tried to get into the ClockworkMod Restore Screen which I did finally get. I wiped all user data and cache, and restored from my backup...
Only to find my AT&T boot screen still there instead of the i896 screen and Rogers screen which would usually show. What can I do about this issue? Is there some kind of firmware or ROM from Rogers I need? I have a Rogers Stock firmware but that didn't seem to work either

I was wondering if the community here could point me towards a few of the choicer tutorials on the net instead of having to wade through countless sub-par search results. I have some back end web services, SOAP web services. I would like to create an android client to use these. I'm under the impression that SOAP style web services are non trivial to setup on android, and I would prefer to use REST if possible Is there any utility that can convert REST calls to SOAP and back again? Or will I need to create my own application that listens for REST calls, makes the appropriate SOAP calls, then sends the response back as REST?

We have a SOAP webservice that is used for an iPhone application, but it is possible that we need an Android specific version or a proxy of the service, so we have the option to go with either SOAP or JSON. I have a few concerns about both methods:
SOAP solution:
Is it possible to generate java source code from a WSDL file, if so, will it include some kind of proxy
class to invoke the webservice and will it work in the Android environment at all? Google has not provided any SOAP library in Android, so i need to use 3rd party, What about the performance/overhead with parsing and transmitting SOAP xml over the wire versus the JSON solution?

There is a few classes in the Android sdk that will let me parse JSON, but does it support generic
parsing, like if I want the result to be parsed as a complex type? Or would I need to implement that
myself? I have read about 2 libraries before here on Stackoverflow, GSON an Jackson. What is the difference performance and usability (from a developers perspective) wise? Do you have any experince with either of those libraries?
Playing around with the UI and SQLLite for a while and it looks pretty good to me . We have a requirement that for the App that all the questions would be coming from the server through REST / Web service which would be displayed on the App..
say for e.g if there are 4 questions
1) Enter your Name -- Text Box
2) Did you sleep well last night -- YES / NO
3) How many hours did you sleep - Text Box
4) How did you hear about us -- Drop down
So the requirement is that the Questions would be displayed on the App after doing a SYNC with the server during the SYNC with the server the Questions would be downloaded from the SERVER through REST / Web service..if the phone is not connected then pull the questions from the Database...
These questions are simple questions and they change quite often and we have a similar app which is there for iphone which does this ....
