View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm getting some reports from the remote stack trace plug-in, with this error (see below)
What I'm doing, is findViewById(R.id.instructionsBack).setBackgroundResource (R.drawable.instructions1);
And then when I need to change the image, findViewById(R.id.instructionsBack).setBackgroundResource (R.drawable.instructions2);
From the error, I'm guessing that the old image is staying in the memory and preventing the new one from loading?
What's the correct way to do this kind of thing? Code...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am working on changing the image being shown when I have my ImageView Clicked. I am trying to use a similar code that I used for accomplishing this with a TextView but I can't seem to find the right terms to get it to work. Here is my current code:
electronconfiguration.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
public void onClick(View drawable) { if (drawable.equals(R.drawable.element_el))

else if (drawable.equals(R.drawable.aluminum_el))

I have a homescreen widget with an imagebutton. I have the button working with a pending intent, but I can't seem to figure out how to change the button image when it is pressed. I tried using a selector and it works in my widget test activity, but not in the remoteview. How could I implement this functionality in the home screen widget?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a card game I created in android and it is possible to show the scores at any given time by clicking a menu option. I would like that scores dialog to show a different background image when it's loaded depending on factors like who's leading, etc. In my constructor, I have the following relevant code:
public ScoresDialog(Context context) {
super(context);
this.setTitle(R.string.scoresDialogHeading);
setContentView(R.layout.scores_view);
...
}
I have tried getting that view to change it in the showDialog method i wrote like so: findViewById(R.layout.scores_view).setBackgroundColor(Color.BLUE); However, I got a NPE... I tried moving this statement to the onStart method, thinking that the view is not yet initialized but got the same error... Any thoughts on what the right way to do something like that is?

I am a new to developing for Android and have been reading up and researching in order to become more familiar with the platform. My programming knowledge is moderate I have experience with C++ and a fairly proficient with Actionscript 3.0. I picked up programming primary to work on game development but come from a more artistic/design background.
I have a relatively simple idea for an app that I want to approach from the most practical way possible seeing how it's my first attempt. Essentially the core functionality of the app will be drawing information I will be getting from an ephemeris chart. At a certain time in the day which is based on the data from the chart I want to change an image/display information based on that day. I am trying to wrap my head around the best possible way to do this. Also I would like to give the user an option of having a notification of some kind when the change occurs, but that is something I have come across in terms of basic implementation.
So my question is if you were to approach setting something like this up how would you? What I am not sure about is setting up a time element so the application knows when to change the image/data to display.
I am currently trying to customize ImageButton to show different draweables as background of the Button while keeping the image set via the src attribute.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I take a picture with Android's camera app, it is inserted in the gallery with a name identical to it's creation date/time, like "2010-02-04 16.36.15.jpg". In my app I take my own pics, and insert to the gallery them using:
android.provider.MediaStore.Images.Media.insertImage(

However, in the gallery they appear with a name that seems to be the time stamp of their creation in millis, like "1265323665851.jpg", no matter what I put in the tittle argument. I need them to have the same name they would get from Android's camera app, so that they will be properly ordered.
