I have a car charger with a USB interface that I used for my ipod. Should I be able to use this with my Incredible along with HTC cable or do i have to buy a charger specific to my phone?

My wife's vehicle has a USB port into which she can plug the USB cable for her iPhone and play here music through the car stereo. Is there a cable that will allow for this on my Android device. Specifically, I have the Bionic. I didn't think it would play media through the USB port, and I didn't think there is an HDMI to USB cable, but I wanted to check.
View 1 Replies View RelatedCan i use my ipod charger plug, with one of my many spare usb-mini usb cables i have for many gadgets (ie cameras/camcorders), to charge my desire? or is the ipod plug rated to push through a different numbers of amps/volts/currants/electrons/whatever to my desire, ultimately killing it? this will save me and probably a lot of other folk a few quids in buying spare chargers etc, as i am sure we've all got a spare mini-usb cable and an ipod lying around. i am talking about this part, or one of these for car charging.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am using the OEM charger on my Dinc and nothing else. I randomly get a message something like, "The charger you are using is not compatible with your device. Remove the charger now to avoid damage to your phone". I have not used anything other than the OEM charger ever. It isn't loose or frayed or bent strangely. It also seems to charge even though the message pops up. For now, I'm using my computer's USB port to charge it but man, that's SLOOOOOOOOW. It has done it since I first got the phone and before I had even installed my first app. It also does it after a factory reset and reprogram. Customer service is sending an aftermarket wall charger free of charge until I can get an OEM unit as they are obviously out of stock.

I'm thinking about my situation right now. I have an iPod touch 3rd gen 32 gigs. I have it jailbroken with Installous, so I am constantly downloading apps trying them out, then removing them.I recently purchased the Magellan iPhone dock to make the iPod a GPS unit. Since the Incredible has free Nav, I don't see the need to have to use the Touch.I only have about 10 gigs worth of music, so I could get a 16 gig card and fit all my music and Howard Stern on it. I would think with the left over that comes on the phone I can install the apps I want (wifi tether, google maps, the weather channel, maybe some sort of document reader if not loaded already).I don't want to use my phone for games, so maybe that is a reason for me to keep it. I don't really play games too much, but I do from time to time. I don't know if it is worth keeping another device to do it though.I want everyone's advice. I really hate carrying my phone and my ipod in regular clothing, so I would hate to carry the Incredible and the iPod touch.

Here are my specs.
HTC Incredible
Virtuous v3.1.0
2.6.32-Hydra-ssuv-v05
OpenVPN binary has been installed. I have also install busybox and then softlinked ifconfig and route to the commands the same way CM6 has it.
I was able to get OpenVPN to work properly within CM6 without much hassle. I have found battery life and experience better for me with Virtuous ROM so I went back to it.
When I launch the connection to establish the VPN session it connects but I am not able to work within the network. I was not able to communicate even with the VPN server.
I ran a netcfg and discovered that tap0 was down. I brought it up but its routing table was empty. I filled it in and was able to communicate with the VPN server and my advertised networks. If I drop my VPN connection, tap0 goes down and the routing table is cleared.
The VPN server works. It works with my other boxes and worked with this phone under CM6.
At work everyone has an ipod/iphone so we commonly share the same Apple wall charger (I have an ipod.. it was a gift and is soon to be sold). Obviously Apple uses there proprietary charger as far as plugging into the device itself but the wall charger itself just uses a standard USB. My question is, can I connect the Incredible's USB cable to the Apple wall charger and successfully charge the phone without any repercussions? I'd like to avoid having to take my charger to work everyday (not allowed to connect devices to our highly monitored computers).

Mini-USB cables are generally universal, but I want to ensure that I use a compatible car charger and wall charger that won't damage my phone. The official Verizon accessories of course seem overpriced, if any generic solution would work equally well.

View 38 Replies View RelatedJust sitting here browsing and can feel this heat commin from the left side. It's comming from the base of the charger. The cable is also warm about a 1/4 way up. I'm sure charging and using it comsumes a bit of power.The battery is probably only 25% charged and I'm quite certain in stops charging once full. Maybe its normal but seems excessive to me.

View 29 Replies View RelatedSo this weekend was my first real world test using the GPS turn by turn for a long car ride (about an hour). I had everything all set plugged in and started the music player (not Pandora) running in the background while the GPS was displaying on the screen. I also had the bluetooth synced to the car. To my surprise, the battery started to drain. It was pretty slow but after about an hour around 5-10% of the battery drained even while plugged in. Do you think it is my after market car charger from monoprice (For only $1.46 each when QTY 50+ purchased - Motorola V8, V9 Series Car Charger for RAZR2 | Motorola It has been working great in the car for about 2 weeks with Pandora playing and bluetooth.
Anyone else experiencing battery drain while plugged in the car using GPS? I think I read someone having a similar situation but with the Verizon charger. I am also using the stock battery. If not, please let me know which car charger you are using with a link if possible. I can't continue using this one if there is one out there that will keep me charged in the car.
So I normally use the HTC wall charger but left it at home and grabbed a Plantronics wall charger that came w/ my bluetooth. It's micro usb and everything, 5.0v output, etc. I plug it in, and the battery goes from red to green w/ a lightning bolt, but the green is moving to simulate charging. and a pop-up keeps telling me i'm at 12%. So, will other chargers not work on this thing?

Every now and then mine will stop charging and say my charger isn't compatible. I've tried different outlets thinking that might be it, but it's not making a difference. It works most of the time, but will stop charging in the middle of the night which leaves me with little battery in the morning.

It's like it is not recogizing that it's connected. I had this problem with my blackberry a few times, and it ruined it. I had to submit an insurance claim because it couldn't be repaired easily.

Anyway, wall charger locks screen, but shows it is charging, led lights up. Car charger works fine, no screen locking up.
So... am I doing any damage to my phone using wall one? Was thinking I would just use overnight when phone is off. Anyone else using one that locks phone?
I can always just toos wall one, and keep the car one, still great deal for the $4 is spent.
I forgot to bring my Droid Incredible charger with me to work. Since the battery was getting low I decided to use my BlackBerry Storm charger on it. The ports are the same, and it goes in without any problems. However, after doing this, it became difficult to unlock. Swiping down usually didn't work. If I was able to swipe down I couldn't get past the "password puzzle." I thought the phone was locked up so I pulled the battery, but it still wouldn't swipe after coming back up. I took the charger out and realized I could swipe again. I repeated this, again plugging the charger in and again I was unable to swipe to unlock. Is there a voltage difference between the BB charger and the Incredible charger? It seems like it was charging it fine. JuicePlotter shows a charge while it was plugged in.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI only noticed this after I installed the 2.2 update. Now, sometimes when I plug the charger in, the LED blinks amber. It is not just the LED blinking, it is blinking because it charges for a second, then stops, then charges, etc. It does this with the OEM AC charger, and any other charger I use, however, it does not do it all the time, it seems random. When it is doing this, it doesn't actually charge. I turn the phone off, plug the charger in, it's fine, turn the phone back on, still fine. It's somewhat annoying. Anyone experience this or know what's going on? It's definitely not an overheated battery.
