Nov 18, 2009Is there any way to download APK from the internet on an Android phone (T Mobile MyTouch)? I have installed the Apps Installer application that installs APK's from the SDCard. However I want to download the APK from the internet and then use Apps Installer to install it. Currently when I download my APK, it gets stored as a TXT file on the phone for some reason. Is there any way around this?

Jul 2, 2010First question...If I get an evo (or any android based phone) does it need to be activated for me to use the wife feature and download app from the android marketplace? Or do I need to have the phone activated to access the marketplace? Will I even be able to use the wifi?
Second question...I figured smartphones are smart. Can I download mp3 files from the internet to the phone itself? In more detail, I use zamzar for my music. I go to youtube, copy the url of the song/video I'm watching, zamzar converts it to mp3, sends it to my e-mail, I follow the link in my e-mail, and the song begins to download. Is this possible on the Evo? Even if the file can't be opened unless I do something on the comp first, as long as i can actually download the file.

Sep 3, 2010I use EDGE on samsung galaxy I7500 and also connect it to PC through USB to use it as modem. I have heard that using internet on phones is bad for them. Is it true ? and does it apply to my phone also ? and moreover i sometimes download app from market, do i need to download some security app also ?

Android :: Non-Market Download Problems - Download Unsuccessful - Cannot Download
Sep 22, 2009I want to be able to download and install my app from my website, but when i do this at the moment i get the error:-
Download unsuccessful - Cannot Download. The content is not supported on the phone.
After looking into this it became apparent that the PHP Magic, that handles the downloads from the website, recognises the file as a .zip file rather then a .apk file and sends the it a .zip, that the phone does not recognise.
Does anyone know a way to get PHP Magic to recognise the file as an apk so that file extension does not get changed and the phone can recognise it?

It used to lock to T-m*bile, I unlocked it lastweek then use L*bara instead cause got free internet service hehe. somehow, everytime i try to use internet service it says unable to connect to internet/ network unavailable. but I tried the simcard with another phone and it was working. some friends suggest me to re-unlock it. but i donno how to re-unlock it.

Jul 7, 2010Right basically you can find the UK T mobile internet settings on the T mobile website. On the Speed Test app, the highest speeds I get are 1.8m/bs downloads and around 500kpbs upload. However, those were at off peak times at night etc (probably when nobody is using the net).Generally I get anything from 0.3 m/bs to 0.9 m/bs though. Lately I've been experiencing some inconsistent internet speeds and reconnection attempts so for I've gone back to the default settings. Tbh though I'm not sure if it makes much difference.

Apr 23, 2010Long time lurker, first time poster here. As a brand new andoid fan, I've learned a lot from everyone here and now I would love to get help for my problem. I have downloaded lots of apps, but now there seems to be a problem. When I click to download, nothing happens, and then an orange triangle appears with the words "download was unsuccessful, please try again." I have tried all of the suggestions out there, removing and replacing the battery and SIM card, turning Wifi off and back on, logging out of Google Talk (although I seem to be automatically logged back in w/out doing anything), using 2G, 3G and Wifi.

Oct 28, 2010I installed an app yesterday, (appbrain web downloader) but couldn't get appbrain app to download, so I uninstalled the appbrain web app. Today I tried to update a couple apps, and niether would update- either I got a message that said download paused, with no way to re start, our it would just show it as downloading, but not making any progress. I tried to install another app off the market, just to see, and out wouldn't install either....

Rebooting phone
Removing battery and re starting phone

Dec 17, 2008Some people don't like setting their cameras to stamp the date on the pics taken but I like doing it on certain occasions. I don't know if the G1 does this because i haven't read about it, but it'd be a cool little feature to have for future camera apps don't you think?
