Can YouTube videos be played from within an AndroidOS without launching the separate YouTube player? How about WebOS or Blackberry? On the iPhone I can do this with a WebView and the embedded YouTube code and I'm weighing the possibility of porting my app to other mobile platforms.

I recently came over from using a Blackberry (and using the Blackberry Messenger app), and I am wondering what you all might suggest as an easy way to briefly send quick messages (not using SMS or email) that would be easy to set up on my end and for my Blackberry friends.Currently I do not have any chat systems or instant messaging systems set up (as never used any of that before), so I am hoping you can make your suggestions very simple to understand and set up. I'm somewhat new to all this technology, but I am anxious to learn.

But then, my wife gave me a really nice gift: a brand new HTC Desire!
I've used it for a week now, and I'm totally sold to it.
Now, the problem is: I'd like to migrate all my personal data from my Pre to the Desire.
I had no problem with contacts and calendar (Google!) but I have no clue on how to transfer the rest of my stuff, and if it's possible or not.
I'm referring to:
* old SMS
* Memos
* Tasks
Is it possible to port over Windows OS and WebOS to android?

I know the Nexus One recently added multi-touch support via an update, and I believe webOS is also multi-touch enabled. Do Android 2.1 and/or webOS have access to multi-touch in the browser, or is this currently exclusive to Apple devices?

The problem though is I am pretty new to mobile application development and barely know the names and probably used a phone or two in the process with each of the OSes. Now the dilemma I am in is, which OS should I pitt against the Andorid to compete with for a security model study. At most I can pick two because I literally will not have the time to complete developing applications for all the Operating Systems in the market to do a comparative study.Which one would be the best choices according to you? (Please elaborate as to why its a worthy competitor).
View 2 Replies View RelatedOk so recently (7/23 I believe) You Tube changed something with their videos and my Dolphin HD browser no longer let's me download videos (Gives a Unknown file name and Download Unsuccessful). I have not updated either of my Dolphin browsers (I have HD and the old one) since they updated it to not allow that feature. My question is Werther or not there is a work around for this yet? I understand that Google is the one blocking this but I know someone will find a way around this. If anyone knows of a new free program to use please let me know.

When I search in non-mobile you tube for videos, I can find them but I can't play them. What happens in froyo when we get flash support? Do we get unlimited access to you tube videos or no luck. I am assuming we can watch those because of flash support but correct me if I am wrong.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI know this has been asked about the Motorola Droid, but I was wondering the same thing about the HTC Desire, Uploading you tube videos via 3g network. When I've taken a video using my phone, I have the option to share it by sending it to You Tube (annoyingly this creates another Google account on my phone, but never mind). More annoying is the fact that it waits until I'm connected to a wi-fi network before allowing me to upload it. Surely if I want to use my data allowance to upload videos to You Tube, that's my business, but I can't find a setting that allows me to change this. According to HTC, this is a change that T-Mobile must have made. I'm not convinced by this, but I'd like to know what other people have found, and whether there are any easy ways around it. Still being fairly new to Android, I don't fancy rooting the phone. I'm using Android 2.1.

My friend just got an iphone 4 and I noticed that over wi-fi his you tube streams extremely crisp video, I'm assuming it's 720p. On my Milestone, using wi-fi and HQ setting, it's still rather blurry and definitely not at the same level as my friends. Is there a way I can stream 720p ?

The GiiNii Movit Mini is as close to what I'm looking for as I can find. Are there hardware vendors that make custom Android products such as this? However it's a video site, and I have absolutely no idea where to even begin. Right off the bat I'm not even going to consider allowing the site to even function in anything other than Android (Maybe even 2.0+) and iPhone, maybe Blackberry and WinMo. But beyond that... What do I do? I'm looking at using the tag, however I'm unsure what, if any, codecs which phone uses. Is HTML5 even adopted in their browsers yet?
Could someone please point me in the right direction? Am I going about this the right way, using the tag? Or is there some magical html element both iPhone and Android (And BB and WMo) that lets them run video in their native video players (Like on youtube).

This seems to display properly but throw an exception when i'm trying to display a modal box like an alertDialog.

I just uploaded a test video, I don't see a setting and it didn't push up the 720p that the video was recorded in.
