Using the link ICSonBeagleboard - rowboat - Android for Texas Instruments Devices (Sitara, Davinci and Integra) - Google Project Hosting I am trying to build the Android file system when I am getting the error:

I downloaded the Android 2.2 source code and try to build it. When I executed the make command, I got an error here like this build/core/java.mk:20: *** frameworks/ex/common: Invalid LOCAL_SDK_VERSION '8' Choices are: current 4 5 6 7. Stop. Then I changed the frameworks/ex/common/Android.mk to LOCAL_SDK_VERSION = 8 from LOCAL_SDK_VERSION = 7. Next place, build/core/java.mk:20: *** external/jsr305: Invalid LOCAL_SDK_VERSION '8' Choices are: current 4 5 6 7. Stop. I changed the external/jsr305/Android.mk to LOCAL_SDK_VERSION = 8 from LOCAL_SDK_VERSION = 7
Last one, build/core/java.mk:20: *** external/guava: Invalid LOCAL_SDK_VERSION '8' Choices are: current 4 5 6 7. Stop. I changed the external/guava/Android.mk to LOCAL_SDK_VERSION = 8 from LOCAL_SDK_VERSION = 7
By these changes the code started the compilation.
1. Why the error occured?
2. Changes which I did is correct or not?

I'm working on two projects. One is essentially a library, and the other is an application using that library. Now from the application project, I want to use the library's classes, so I added that project to the "required projects" under java build path. It seems to compile fine, but at runtime, I get this error:
07-27 11:26:57.037: ERROR/dalvikvm(741): Could not find class 'interdroid.contextframework.ContextManager', referenced from method com.bartvanwissen.contextframeworktest.MainActivity.onCreate
Apparently, the library project's classes are not added to the apk file. How can I make sure they are included? Since I'm working on both projects at the same time, I would like to prevent having to create a jar file every time I want to test something.

I have an interesting problem. I pull down an android project from cvs, which works fine. Once Eclipse builds the project, my .java files are removed. XML files, pngs, everything else is fine. I seem to be left with just the package tree, but no source files. Any thoughts?

I'm attempting to test one of my applications in the SDK1.5 environment, but when it tries to build, I get this error:

If you really intend to build a core library -- which is only appropriate as part of creating a full virtual machine binary, as opposed to compiling an application -- then use the "--core-library" option to suppress this error message. If you go ahead and use "--core-library" but are in fact building an application, then please be aware that your build will still fail at some point; you will simply be denied the pleasure of reading this helpful error message.
But I've tested my other application in the environment, and it worked fine. I've looked through my imports, and none of my files import NumericShaper, so I'm confused as to why it seems to think that it is being referenced.

UPD: I found a discussion, that claims, that problem could be that I'm having 64bit libs on my 32bit system.

How do I figure out, if that libz.so.1.2.3.3 is the right lib, and in case I have to replace it with the right one, how do I do it?

I've the latest 1.6 sdk. I would like to build the project on 1.5 as well as on 1.6. New 1.6 also comes with 1.5. My build succeeds, but I get a bunch of error --- Not sure if I screwed the java env setup?

I just switched the way my Android project is being built and non of my unit tests work any more...I get errors like WARN/dalvikvm(575): VFY: unable to resolve static field X in WARN/dalvikvm(575): VFY: unable to find class referenced in signature These errors only come from my Unit Tests, where classes defined in it can't even see other classes defined in the unit test. Before each project had it's own directory with copies of the 3rd party jar files. I've read around that Dex does weird things with references but haven't been able to figure out how to fix this problem. Is there a better way to do this? I would love to see an example of a large Android workspace where there are multiple projects, jar references, etc.Is it possible to fix this with an Order/Export tweak ?

What I did was:
1) Checkedout the project via apps-for-android instructions
[svn checkout http://apps-for-android.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ apps-for-android-read-only]
2) Opened a new Android project using existing source dir [per the WikiNote direction]
3) Cleaned the project and let it rebuild
It won't build the APK though and reports compilation errors (the top level dir is flagged red in eclipse but nothing else is so I can't track down where the error supposedly is)

I am in need of help to complete my application. I am trying to execute a project that uses and android library. Basically I am trying to execute the android facebook sdk to run the sample code provided at http://github.com/facebook/facebook-android-sdk 1. I have downloaded the sdk and extracted the zip file to a folder 2. I used Eclipse galileo import to create an android project from existing resource. I imported the sdk source code (facebook folder of the sdk) into my project explorer successfully. I can also run Build Project for this source code. 3. Whenever I do a Clean on my project, I get 2 errors:
1.) The project is missing gen folder.
2.) There is a build path error.
I go to "Configure build path" and uncheck "Android 1.6". It works. If I do this again, I go and this time check "Android 1.6". It again works.

This is more of an Eclipse error than an Android or Ant error. My Eclipse project won't build because when it sees the build.xml created from the Android command, it starts looking for the debug and release commands. Well, since they are dynamically generated from the <setup> task, they don't exist. So now Eclipse (Build id: 20100218-1602) locking the project from build/run based on these errors. kay.. so here is the weird part: It worked this morning. In fact it has been working for weeks with the build.xml file sitting there. All I did was edit the build.xml file in Eclipse (changed some constants). Ant thinks everything is peachy.

On my Mac I installed Eclipse, the SDK and created a new project, then hit build expecting to see my first helloworld app.I got the error "the project cannot be built until build path errors are fixed".After going thru all the path-like options in Preferences, I noticed that on the tab "Java Build Path" the "Google APIs [Android 2.2]" option did not have its check box checked.Checking it made the problem go away.It works now and I can see the app in the Emulator Have I not set up my environment correctly? I used all the defaults in Eclipse and the Android SDK.

I can't seem to get rid of the following run/build error, but the Eclipse/Android environment won't give a clue how to fix it. Your project contains error(s), please fix them before running your application. This has happened a couple of times already and I've been able to repair it by cleaning and rebuilding, sometimes having to restarting eclipse, sometimes having to restart my pc, but now it won't budge. I've gone back to a known working version of my app to remove that unknown. Typically I can find project errors in the Eclipse Package explorer, but my code is fine according to the Package Explorer. Any other project debug tools? Is this a known Eclipse/Android environment issue?

I am trying to write a sample program to record the video (say camcorder application). When i run my program using the emulator (I have android-sdk- windows-1.5_r3) I see java.io.IOException: prepare failed. error in logcat output.
Further I can see that I have came across this error when i call MediaRecorder.prepare() from CamcorderActivity.surfaceCreated() But I am surprised to see that activity got launched and I am seeing the camera preview! Again the preview is seen only in half of the screen! Its weird!!!
Further when i do recorder.start() to record the video I get java.lang.IllegalStateException. Yes this is obvious since the prepare () has failed. But the question is why prepare() has failed ?
