Android : Are Animations Always Clipped To ViewGroup Bounds

Dec 2, 2009

I have small ViewGroup somewhere in the middle of the screen. this ViewGroup contains some Views that i'd like to animate.

now this ViewGroup in dispatchDraw() method manages any child Views animations, clipping them to ViewGroup's bounds.

my question is whether it is possible not to clip them to ViewGroup's bounds?

Android :: Rotating In Content Gets Clipped / Way To Prevent?

Oct 24, 2009

I'm trying to draw some large circles on the canvas which are partly offscreen, then use animation to rotate them in be fully visible. My circles successfully rotate in, but when they come into view they're clipped at the place that was the screen edge when they were originally drawn. Is there any way to prevent this? I guess my larger question is how can you draw elements beyond the edges of the screen and then animate them into view?

Android : Acanvas Draw Mysteriously Clipped

Jun 3, 2010

My android app draws a chart on a Canvas. It works fine in the simulator. On a real device the chart is clipped to the left 1/5 of the screen. I've tried:

canvas.clipRect(0, 0, canvas.getWidth(), canvas.getHeight(), Region.Op.REPLACE);

to clear the clipping. Am I missing something? Does layering have anything to do with this?

Android : Working With SQLite Database / Getting Cursor Out Of Bounds Exception

Jun 30, 2009

I am having some trouble working with the SQLite database. I am able to create the database, add to it, and delete from it with no problem by following the Notepad examples, but I am trying to avoid duplicates and therefore want to check to see if an entry exists already.

Below is the code I have for testing to see if a game exists. I get the correct Log message of "No Games" when there are no games, as well as the correct value for column from getColumnIndex which is proven to me by the log printout telling me that column = 1.

The error message that I receive if I don't catch the exception says "Caused by android.database.CursorIndexOutOfBoundsException: Index -1 requested, with a size of 1

Where is Index -1 being requested if my call to getColumnIndex is returning 1? Code...

Android : Get Map Bounds Using Google / Calculate Maximum - Minimum Long

Jul 31, 2010

I was wondering if there was any way (I'm somewhat a newbie at Java) to get the MapBounds of a Google MapView on Android.

Just to clarify, here's what I'd like to do.

Calculate the maximum and minimum long and lat whenever the map is moved, or zoomed and display those values in a Toast.

Is there any possible way to do this - or am I in over my head?

Android : Adapter Drop Down Clipped On Floating Window

Aug 14, 2010

I'm having a problem with floating windows. My activity has an AutoCompleteTextView text in a floating window positioned at the top of the display. If enough text is entered to make the drop down appear it will be initially clipped to the bottom edge of the window. If you click on the drop down it appears unclipped.

I've stripped my activity down to a test program and put a copy here:

Things I've tried: - space after my text - seems to get trimmed off automatically - layout_marginRight - paddingRight

Anybody know what's going on here? Is this a bug?

Changing the display resolution doesn't seem to help either.

Android :: Adding Scroll Bar To A Custom ViewGroup ?

Aug 2, 2010

I've got the following node in my XML layout:

CODE:.................

TagLayout is a class that extends ViewGroup, and basically holds a bunch of buttons with text (a custom object that act as tags, but that's neither here or there).

The problem is that when there are too many buttons, the view no longer scrolls. I can confirm that I am adding tags but I can't see anything.

If I wrap the above within a ScrollView, the layout never renders. I tried adding the attributes android:isScrollContainer and android:scrollbars, but that doesn't change anything. Is there something I'm missing here?

I should also add that TagLayout is overriding the onMeasure() event. I guess I need to implement a scrolling mechanism there...?

Android : ViewGroup OnIntercept TouchEvent Is Only Called Once

Sep 30, 2009

In my custom ViewGroup, I am returning false after handling the MotionEvent.ACTION_DOWN event.

According to the javadoc: For as long as you return false from this function, each following event (up to and including the final up) will be delivered first here and then to the target's onTouchEvent().

However, I notice that all subsequent events ( MotionEvent.ACTION_MOVE and MotionEvent.ACTION_UP) are only delivered to my #onTouchEvent method. In #onTouchEvent , I always return true.

What could possibly be my bug? I am running on Android 1.5r2 SDK.
