Android :: Application To Store SMS To Gmail Calendar And View Them By Date
Jul 19, 2010
Is there an Application to Store SMS to The Gmail Calendar and View them by date. It would be just like the CallTrack App but for SMS. The Calltrack App uploads the name and phone number of person that you called and that called you. If anyone knows of an Application that does the same for SMS please let me know.

I'm going to ask a shot version of my question first because, as I was typing out my thorough explanation below, I realized that I had seen a setting that I believe fixes my problem but I cannot remember where it is or how to get to it. In short, the problem I am having is that Non-recurring events (one time appointment) that are in the Google Calendar online are not showing in the Moment calendar app. There was a Settings Page not sure if it was in the main OS menu or the Calendar menu that gave you the option of choosing to show events "before" a certain date and to show events "After" a certain date. You repeatedly tap the two "before" or "after" options and the dates would move further back in time and further forward in time respectively creating a date range.
Non-recurring events, obviously, continue to show for years prior or in the future but Non-recurring one-time events outside of a "range" of a time period do not show. Does Anyone know what the setting I am referring to and how to get back to it?? If not, perhaps my more thorough explanation of my problem and what I am trying to accomplish below might help me find the display before this date/after this date setting that I cannot find again! (longer explanation/description follows below): We have a Moment and an EVO and we are both new to Android but it appears I am only having the problem with our Moment. Though we are new to Android and the gmail sync, I am very comfortable with the sync process and working with Google Calendar online or on the phone and the settings for forcing a sync, choosing which calendars to display, etc. I did some troubleshooting of the problem and this is what I have figure out here goes:
It appears that the calendar on the Moment is only showing recurring events birthdays, anniversaries anything where the event is set to recur some time in the future. The non-recurring events a random party, a random doctor's appointment does NOT show on the Moment Calendar app! I prefaced my issue with being comfortable and familiar with the Google calendar operation because I am certain that the events are in the Google Calendar online. If I change the one-time event to a yearly recurring event and force the phone to sync then WHAM BAM the now recurring event shows in the Moment calendar app. Remove the recurrence and go back to the one-time doctor appointment, sync, and disappears again! The other odd thing is that "old" Non-recurring events that have already passed do seem to continue to show on the Moment calendar app for about a month. In other words, stuff back to about a month from today (today 7/20) DOES SHOW even if non-recurring but anything older than a month does not show.
Now I can Understand why if you had a doctor's appointment on May 20, 2010, that that even should NOT appear on either your Google Calendar online OR your Moment calendar app for May 20, **2011** because that doesn't make sense. However, it DOES make sense and is important to be able to go back to May 2010 and ask,"what day was that appointment with so-and-so company?" and you scroll back in your calendar to see the name of the company or "In February, 2010, did our son or daughter see the doctor? and you scroll back a few months to see that your son and not your daughter went. The Google Calendar online does NOT automatically purge older events, they are all visible online back yearsand years. Why is the Moment "purging"/not displaying non-recurring events on the phone that are in a range of about 1 month old to about to happen in a month?

You think that google would put forth a much better effort for the email app on Android but ironically, its just a giant epic fail Inbox view only? WTF was Google thinking? It really does suck that i have to use the web app in order to have the full functionality of gmail. I understand Google is moving forward with web apps and the cloud and all that but damn, they leave us hanging like that?

Is anyone aware of an app that will show me my calendar with text in the month view? Every app I've tried only shows weather there is an appointment on that day or not, but no text. I'd like to look at my month view and see specifically what I have scheduled on that day. In landscape mode you would think that would be easy to do.

I have a question about the calendar app. Sorry if this has been raised before. In calendar view you can see the day and the date however if you switch to agenda it shows the date but no longer the day of the week. Is there a switch I can toggle to turn this on or an alternative calendar.Seeing the day of the week is very useful next to the date. Odd that its not included.

I have two gmail accounts. My primary works find on my DX. I have shared my second calendar with my primary and my appointments for both show up fine online, and in my DX calendar list, it says my second calendar is on there, but nothing is showing up. I've tried adding new appointments both on device and computer, but they don't sync for that calendar.
Am I missing something? Or does anyone know of a calendar app that will sync with a second gmail calendar?

In Android 2.1, when I am opening Calendar application, going to Agenda view and from their if I go to Day schedule, that date is shown as "Thursday 01-Jan-1970" in title bar. It is not picking system date.
This is same case for week and Month view. In week schedule it is showing "December 1969 - January 1970" and for Month it display "January 1970" at Calendar title bar. This is happening when I go to day/month/week schedule from Agenda page.
I am not seeing any error in logcat message when wrong date is displayed.
Here is the logcat message:

I received a letter from Verizon a month ago offering me an extra $50 credit for my NE2 upgrade to make a total of $150 - the catch was the offer expired April 15. Right then I knew the Incredible would be released after 4/15!
My question is - is there any hope of convincing vzw online sales or a store to extend the expiration date of the credit? I asked one online sales person and they said "no we can't do that for an online sale, but call a store, and they might be able to". So I called a store and they said "no when it comes in we won't be able to do that, but maybe online sales can". So is this a futile attempt? Should I wait until they are in stores on 4/29 and go in and talk to a manager? Or give up and pre-order now?

Coming from a BB, I'm used to be able to accept incoming meeting requests on all mail accounts. With Android, that seems to have changed; - Corporate Exchange - no problem, invites come in, i can accept - Personal domain (.com) w.email, i cannot accept invites/requests to be registered to the phone calendar - Gmail email - also, no go. not even to the gmail calendar. Is the any app, eventually free app, that lets me accept invites/requests sent to my personal .com email? And, if anyone knows...how does Gmail handle the invites via gmail calendar?

When I enter new events in the PC-sync calendar on the phone, I can enter (or modify) the date. The dialogue box that appears when I do this shows the date in MM-DD-YYYY format. I've checked all the settings that I can find, and I'm sure they're all set to UK/British. Am I missing something, or is it not possible to change this?

I think this has been posted before but I haven't found an answer yet. I'm using the one-day calender widget. When I have an all day event, it shows the wrong date. For instance, I have a all day event on the 18th; today is the 16th and it's showing the event as being tomorrow.
Anyone else have this problem and find a fix yet?
I'm affraid I'll show up at the wrong place a day early or a day late...

I would like to know if there is anyway to know the date at which an application was installed in an Android phone. I would like to know this in order to implement a time limited trial / demo version of an application.
I could save the date on the first usage, but a tech-savvy user could use ADB to change the database or delete support files.

I'm going to ask a SHORTENED version of my question FIRST because, as I was typing out my thorough explanation below, I realized that I had SEEN A SETTING that I believe fixes my problem but I CANNOT REMEMBER where it is or how to get to it!
In short, the problem I am having is that NON-recurring events (one time appointment) that are in the Google Calendar online are NOT SHOWING in the Moment calendar app.
There was a SETTINGS PAGE...not sure if it was in the main OS menu or the Calendar menu...that gave you the option of choosing to show events "BEFORE" a certain date and to show events "AFTER" a certain date. You repeatedly tap the two "before" or "after" options and the dates would move further back in time and further forward in time respectively. NON-recurring events, obviously, continue to show for years prior or in the future but NON-recurring ONE-time events outside of a "range" of a time period do NOT SHOW. Does ANYONE know what the setting I am referring to and how to get back to it?
If NOT, perhaps my more thorough explanation of my problem and what i am trying to accomplish below might help me find the display before this date/after this date setting that I cannot find again!
Though we are new to Android and the gmail sync, I am very comfortable with the sync process and working with Google Calendar online or on the phone and the settings for forcing a sync, choosing which calendars to display, etc.
I did some troubleshooting of the problem and THIS is what I have figured out...WEIRD!!!...here goes:
It appears that the calendar on the Moment is ONLY showing RECURRING EVENTS...birthdays, anniversaries...ANYTHING where the event is set to recur some time in the future.
The non-recurring events...a random party, a random doctor's appointment does NOT show on the Moment Calendar app!
REMOVE the recurrence and go back to the one-time doctor appointment, sync, and WHOOSH, disappears again!
HOWEVER, it DOES make sense and IS IMPORTANT to be able to go back to May 2010 and ask, "what day was that appointment with so-and-so company??" and you scroll back in your calendar to see the name of the company or "In February, 2010, did our son or daughter see the doctor?? and you scroll back a few months to see that your son and not your daughter went.
The Google Calendar online does NOT automatically purge older events...they are ALL VISIBLE online back YEARS AND YEARS. Why is the Moment "purging"/not displaying non-recurring events on the phone that are in a range of about 1 month old to about to happen in a month?

I switched recently from a black berry to an Android 2.3 powered device - Samsung Stratosphere on Verizon.
Email invite messages from Outlook for meetings do not show the calendar detail. Specifically, I can not see the date and time of the meeting invitations. I can perform actions to "Accept", "Decline", or Tentative" the meeting invitation. Unfortunately, there isn't any meeting detail so I don't know when the meeting is scheduled.
This is very frustrating and makes the Samsung Stratosphere or possibly the Android platform not fit for corporate environments. If I can not get this to work I will be switching to an iPhone and I will recommend to my entire corporate enterprise that we avoid Android based Smart Devices.
The Black Berry BEZ environment also provided information on meeting conflicts when you are sent a meeting invitation.
