I can build android apps, and I can build circuits. However, I have no idea on how to connect the two. So if I have a simple LED Circuit (Battery, Resistor, LED), how can I wirelessly control the light (being on or off) through an app on my android?

The reason I ask is that I have a Samsung Galaxy Note with some files on a 32GB storage card within the phone and I want to transfer some of those files to my new Nexus 7 tablet that does not have a micoSD slot.

I can do this things with abd from the command line when a USB cable is attached but I'd like to know if I can do this without having to mess around with cables.

View 27 Replies View RelatedI'm at work yesturday and I was trying to install a new ROM (ZenHeroFX 2.2), went to XDA's site under the Hero's forum and saw the zip, but my companies computer blocks access to sites like megaupload. I was pissed and didn't want to have to wait til I got home to put on this bad boy...
So I looked over at my Hero and thought I wonder if I can access the megaupload site and DOWNLOAD THIS 117mb FILE... all through my phone. So it was a slow day I thought I should go ahead and try. Went to the site via my Hero and accessed the megaupload site. Thanks to Flash on my Hero I was able to even see the numbers tick down from 48. So the button was now shown ready for me to download. And sure enough it proceeded downloading the big file.
No more than 25 minutes later over Sprint's 3G, the download was complete. Didn't even both searching my SD card for the file, I immediately went into recovery. The file was a bit hard to fine at first but I found it in one my download folders, hit the file and installed it. after about 5 minutes of it rebooting, my Hero has successfully installed the ROM... no computer, no USB's... wireless.
I tethered my Thunderbolt for my friend to his laptop last night. And today I find out he has something called the "fake alert" trojan on his laptop. Is it possible that because my phone was connected to his PC wirelessly that my phone or sd card could be infected as well?
View 8 Replies View RelatedAm trying to drag/drop files from my Droid to my PC and back but cannot figure this out to save my life. I want to do it via wifi,not bluetooth. I DL es file explore but I cannot get my PC to recognize my Droid like it would if I connected via USB and mounted. How in the world do I get it so I can swap files back and forth? ES keeps asking for a password and I have no clue what password it wants. I did my initial logon password and it got me in but past that it's a no go. Not to mention the biggest prob is trying to get the PC to recognize it has the Droid connected and looking at files on its network. I'm using Vista and am rooted using Droidmod.

I can send Youtube videos to it so it seems it may be possible. But I don't see any options on Redbox Instant for doing this. I've tried using the mhl adapter and it just doesn't work good at all and I'd rather go wireless through DNLA anyway. Since I already have a smart TV, I'd rather not have to buy chromecast, but if that works I may have to.

So I would have the app running in the background on Phone A, then when it finds another Android phone B, it saves certain information like time, GPS location, just state variables.
But if the other phone is also running the same app, the two phones connect and share trivial non-private information.
Hypothetically, would this be possible? Would I go through a local ad-hoc Wi-Fi connection, or constantly broadcast Bluetooth?

In the Android SDK reference, under android.telephony.TelephonyManager, there doesn't seem to be anything to control the network type.
What APIs does this setting actually call?
I use "Palm VNC" to control my computers via my Palm TX; this is most useful for one particular pc as I can use the Palm's touch screen to activate commands rather than the mouse on the pc. A quick point with a finger and the command fires rather than picking up the mouse, moving to the required spot on the screen then clicking. Even more useful when I am at the other end of the room and need to fire the command. I see that there are many VNC apps for Android/Desire. What is the forum's experience of the various VNC apps?

I have a HTC Magic running the 4.2 version of CyanogenMod (Android version 1.6). What I basically, want to do is in the title. I want to have an app that allows me to view my PC screen on my phone. Gmote and similar apps come close, but they are useless as I cannot view my screen. I have looked at a number of "VNC" apps, but for one reason or another it just doesn't work. I have gotten VLC Remote and TunesRemote to work, which means that I am able to connect my phone to the computer, but beside that nothing works. I managed to get TunesRemote to work by opening certain ports in Windows 7. However, I tried to do a similar thing with a number of VNC applications and none of them worked. I have been trying to port forward for the last three years and no matter what I do, it just doesn't work. I am unsure if it is my Windows 7 firewall or the router, but either way nothing seems to be working.
