General :: Trojan To Droid Wirelessly?
Nov 29, 2011
I tethered my Thunderbolt for my friend to his laptop last night. And today I find out he has something called the "fake alert" trojan on his laptop. Is it possible that because my phone was connected to his PC wirelessly that my phone or sd card could be infected as well?

I installed my usual apps after flashing Mr. X's stock+root-CIQ Tmo T989 rom.First app I usually download and run before anything is Adfree. Then Astro file manager to restore APKs. But I realized that this method left me with some older versions of the apps and they wouldn't have their market links. Yes, I could run Titanium Backup to fix them..
Anyways, suddenly I get a star icon on my notification bar. I look at it and it sends me to a website claiming I won a tablet and to chose. Code: URL...So I decided to wipe and flash again and go through the same process to see if perhaps catch who's the culprit..
It happens again this time with a plus icon..The star icon has happened twice on different occasions, only in the last week, and after installing a recent update to Adfree.
I've had one app actually hijack my my stock browser and change the search engine to some smartsearch type site, like it does to normal windows browsers

Is there a way or an app that allows me to connect one android phone/tablet directly to another android phone/tablet wirelessly to exchange files between the two?
The reason I ask is that I have a Samsung Galaxy Note with some files on a 32GB storage card within the phone and I want to transfer some of those files to my new Nexus 7 tablet that does not have a micoSD slot.
It would be nice if I could use my Note for external storage and wirelessly swap files back and forth on the fly to my Nexus 7 when needed.

Is there a way to stream Music wirelessly from my laptop to my Android(s5570) . Here i am talking about playing music wirelessly within a range of 10 m or so from my PC to my android (through my headphones) . It can be a cheap alternative to buying a bluetooth headphone.
Most importantly i dont want to have an active internet connection for streaming . Although Wireless LAN can be an option .

I'm looking for a way to send streaming movies on my HTC One (primarily Redbox Instant) to my Panasonic Viera smart TV. I can send Youtube videos to it so it seems it may be possible. But I don't see any options on Redbox Instant for doing this. I've tried using the mhl adapter and it just doesn't work good at all and I'd rather go wireless through DNLA anyway. Since I already have a smart TV, I'd rather not have to buy chromecast, but if that works I may have to.

What's the best way to stream video between Android devices? (wirelessly)
A bonus would be if I could choose where the video decoding happened (on the source or destination)...

Am trying to drag/drop files from my Droid to my PC and back but cannot figure this out to save my life. I want to do it via wifi, not bluetooth. I DL es file explore but I cannot get my PC to recognize my Droid like it would if I connected via USB and mounted. How in the world do I get it so I can swap files back and forth? ES keeps asking for a password and I have no clue what password it wants. I did my initial logon password and it got me in but past that it's a no go. Not to mention the biggest prob is trying to get the PC to recognize it has the Droid connected and looking at files on its network. I'm using Vista and am rooted using Droidmod.

There is a free (to try) app in the market called PRINTERSHARE that allows you to send any print job from your EVO to your home printer over the web (no usb required). As long as your home computer is on, you can be 100 miles away and send a job to your printer. The full version is just $4.99 and a steal at twice the price.
It works as advertised and it's free to try. Check it out. This got 5 Stars on my kewl-o-meter.

I'm at work yesturday and I was trying to install a new ROM (ZenHeroFX 2.2), went to XDA's site under the Hero's forum and saw the zip, but my companies computer blocks access to sites like megaupload. I was pissed and didn't want to have to wait til I got home to put on this bad boy...
So I looked over at my Hero and thought I wonder if I can access the megaupload site and DOWNLOAD THIS 117mb FILE... all through my phone. So it was a slow day I thought I should go ahead and try. Went to the site via my Hero and accessed the megaupload site. Thanks to Flash on my Hero I was able to even see the numbers tick down from 48. So the button was now shown ready for me to download. And sure enough it proceeded downloading the big file.
No more than 25 minutes later over Sprint's 3G, the download was complete. Didn't even both searching my SD card for the file, I immediately went into recovery. The file was a bit hard to fine at first but I found it in one my download folders, hit the file and installed it. after about 5 minutes of it rebooting, my Hero has successfully installed the ROM... no computer, no USB's... wireless.

I can build android apps, and I can build circuits. However, I have no idea on how to connect the two. So if I have a simple LED Circuit (Battery, Resistor, LED), how can I wirelessly control the light (being on or off) through an app on my android?

Is there any way (e.g. with the command-line) I can upload an APK to an android phone wirelessly (wifi or Bluetooth) and launch it on the phone from a desktop machine?
I can do this things with abd from the command line when a USB cable is attached but I'd like to know if I can do this without having to mess around with cables.

I'm interested in fleshing out an idea for a Android phone app, and I'm wondering if this is possible. So I would have the app running in the background on Phone A, then when it finds another Android phone B, it saves certain information like time, GPS location, just state variables.
But if the other phone is also running the same app, the two phones connect and share trivial non-private information.
Hypothetically, would this be possible? Would I go through a local ad-hoc Wi-Fi connection, or constantly broadcast Bluetooth?

Just factory reset a Motorola Droid X. Want to use it to browse internet on wi-fi only. I need to make the "touch Droid to begin" activate phone screen go away permanently. I have tried the touch the 4 corners thing, but it takes me to a dialpad and forces me to try and make the activate call.

my x2 wont update. i'm stuck on v2.2.1. its my work phone and the problem is that pretty regularly it will quit refreshing my inbox so i quit getting emails. i can manually go in there and refresh, but by the time i realize its not working theres 20 emergencies waiting. half the time it works fine so its not data push vs. every 15 min update vs manual refresh. i took it to a verizon store and they confirmed the OS was jacked but because the screen is cracked.
whenever i click update it tells me the service is unavailable. i used titanium backup to backup and then reset the phone. tried updating after reset in both rooted and unrooted modes and i got a little further. it lets me download the update, but when it restarts to do the install it starts back up w the message...update failed.

Before the update, when I connected my Droid3 to my computer via USB, the USB icon would come on the phone and its internal storage would show up in Win7 for me to use (pull pics, etc.) After the update, when I connect my Droid3, it simply charges. No icon, nothing in Windows happens.
I know there used to be a setting somewhere to specify what would happen when you connected via USB... but now I cannot find it. Has it been removed, or am I blind?

I have a Droid 3 and I'm attempting to backup my texts and save them to my pc so I can print them out if I need.I have downloaded SMS Backup and Restore and PhoneLeash. From what I've gathered, Phoneleash only emails the texts that have been sent/received after the app has been installed. I do like the organization of the texts, though. For Backup, I have gotten my texts backed up and saved to my SD card. When plugged into my pc, I've been able to open it up in XML format, but the texts are so hard to read, due to all the coding. Also, it doesn't organize the messages very well. It put all the texts I've sent together and all the other person's texts together. It would take a long time to get them organized correctly. So my question is, is there any app the works like SMS Backup, but organizes like PhoneLeash?how to make Backup organize the texts correctly?

So I was at the Verizon store today because I may be up for an upgrade soon. I have a droid charge that I got just after it came out. I like on my phone that on the drop down menu that I can turn the mobile data on and off on the fly. I looked at some of the phones available, and none had that ease of use. I had anywhere from four screens to not able to be found.
My question is whether or not there are any phones available on verizon where I can turn the 4G radio on and off on the fly.
