I want to have 5 line in height text area following code I am using.
<EditText android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:gravity="center"
android:singleLine="false" android:lines="5"
android:layout_marginLeft="10dip" android:layout_marginRight="10dip"
/>
Text area looks fine but problem is cursor is blinking in the middle of the text field. I want it to blink at first line first char of the text field.

im making a activity to configurate my app, and i have to divide the sections of my configuration window with a line, i used this: divider_horizontal_bright, from this example: http://android.cryx.li/doku.php?id=know:settings: start but it doesn't works, when i test on my android phone, it doesn't shows a horizontal line

I'm looking for a simple way in Android to add a text to a button that is displayed in 2 (or more) lines. E.g. A bold and big heading in the first line and a small description in the second line. Is it possible or have I use a TextView or something similar?

I am on Android 2.1 and I have one multi column Custom listview Using BaseAdapter with an editable edittext at the end of the listview. If the data in the listview do not contain the data of user choice then user should be able to enter data. If the data is already there in the list user will be able to select the data using custom selector. If a selection is made in the list view and user wanted to enter data in the text field at the bottom after selection then the marker in the list view should be unselected. I tried to use onclick() method on edit text using click listener. First time when it is clicked, edit text is getting focus and onclick() method is not fired. And when it is clicked second time, onclick() method is fired and notifyDataSetChanged() method is called. I tried to call the notifyDataSetChanged() method from the Focus Listener, list view selection is gone in my first attempt and edit text is not receiving any data input from the keyboard (frozen).

Recently I have been having issues with viewing my email messages in the Yahoo Mail App. When I open some messages all is see is line after line of code instead of the message text. It doesn't seem to matter what the source email is (gmail, hotmail, etc). Some emails are ok some are not. Anyone else have this problem? Any fixes?

I have a problem as follows:
In my project i am having rich text editor options to apply for the edit text view. In that i applied font color,font names,font size options for user.But these options will apply for whole text available in edit text. But my problem is i want to apply user selected settings (like font color,size,font) for user selected text instead of Whole text. i want to apply the user selected font/color/size to the user selected text.How?
How to implement this .

I don't really know where to put this topic but anyways my problem is that i need to edit a line in a file.
So i think of something like this

Cd /data/data/foldernameofapp/
Edit "file.dat"
Edit line 4 "text here 2"
i want it to edit like this "text here 3"
Change only the number. or replace the hole line with a new line where i only changed the number. btw the best is if the script can change a line and not find text and change. Because the number in the text i want to change can vary from different numbers.
P.S i can use root explorer and open the file with a text editor and change it, this works but takes forever P.S.S i got root

I am doing a custom edit box class. It starts something like: public class Amount Field extends Edit Text and has over riden the constructor to implement the Edit Text widget style However when I implement this on my XML I get an editable Text View instead of the Edit Text (there is only text but not the surrounding white box) and also when I click on it nothing happens, only text color changes. Are there any ideas on why this happens? I've done list components the same way and style is not altered.

I have an EditText where users can set text to bold, italic, etc but I can't figure out how to save that text with styles as .txt file/any otherway to save it.If we save as html page we can't edit the webview. I use getText but that only returns text and no style info.

I'm wondering how can I split single line text into few lines. I need it for game. I want to make it in canvas. It will be notification popup, but sometimes text is too long (I draw text canvas.drawText()), and I need to split it and draw in few lines in rows. Anyone knows a good solution? I saw methods mPaint.measureText() or TextUtils . split () , but it isn't so good in my case. Is there other method?

I am writing to a canvas from a thread.

My problem start when I have a multi colored SpannableStringBuilder which I want to write to the canvas, and I have no idea how to do this. SpannableStringBuilder has a drawText() method which I have been unable to use. Or is there some other method to write a string to a canvas where some of the letters have a different color?

In my android app development, I have one button, the button text is not a single color text, it is two lines text, with each line uses different color for line text. How to implement this? "Two lines" can be simply implemented by adding " " in the text, I don know how to set different colors for each line text on the button. Anyone can help?

My code is pretty standard.. sReport contains the text I would like output to the text file, and it contains several" "line breaks that render fine in a textview, but in the text file they're non-existent. There must be something easy i'm missing..

I am creating a button widget with icon and text. Single word text is getting divided into two lines. There is enough room on the screen for the button widget to grow. But it still wraps the text to next line. How do I force it to be single line ? Currently I'm using the default filter but I would like to be able to make it so I can ignore some letters at the beginning of the strings in the adapter. I've had a look at the public methods available on Multi Auto Complete Text View but can't find anything on how to pass my own filter to it. Any idea how to do this?
