View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a list view holding text views and when the text gets too big, it wraps and the item takes up two spaces. I am wondering if there is a way to turn off line wrap in this case, and if it should be done in the textview or the listview.

Is this possible using the android TextView api?
I am in the process of trying to convert a desktop app to Android - and am struggling with some very basic stuff. When I specify a layout including a textview that holds a sizable amount of text wrap_content seems to arbitrarily break in the middle of a word - and I can not find any documentation indicating this can be controlled.

Does anyone have any idea how I can achieve text wrapping? Here's a sample of the xml: Code...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a TextView inside a ScrollView. Let's say the ScrollView is named s and the TextView is named t.
I have many lines to be displayed in the TextView and at the same time I want to scroll the view to a specific line.
So I did this:
t.setText(aVeryLongString);
int y = t.getLayout().getLineTop(40); // e.g. I want to scroll to line 40
s.scrollTo(0, y);
But it won't scroll, except the second time. It seems that on the first time the code finishes, the ScrollView knows how much the total height of the TextView is.
So I think there must be something to force calculating the needed height before the scrollTo call. How to do that (or otherwise)?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a full-screen TextView holding a long Spanned that requires scrolling. The TextView's getLineCount() gives me the total number of lines used for the entire block of text but I'd like to know how many lines of text are currently visible on the screen.
Or, better yet, is there a way to figure out the range of lines currently visible on the screen? For example, as the view scrolls, can I tell that lines 20-60 are currently visible?
The Android 2.0 web browser included with the Milestone (UK version) does not wrap text on web pages. This forces me to zig-zag right and left to read text on a page, rendering the web browser near unusable. I've tried chaning the text size or default zoom levels but nothing works: it's like viewing an image version of the webpage.Is this bug particular to the Milestone?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else noticed that after updating to Froyo, that text wrapping/redrawing is not working properly while web-browsing?For example, if you go to a text heavy website, like Reddit, and I zoom in (either by double-tap or pinch), the text will redraw, but it will be slightly larger than the screen's width. To read the text, I am required to scroll a bit to the right, then back to the left, and so on.I never had this problem prior to the Froyo update. Can anyone else confirm that they are having this problem? before I get bombed on, I should say that I am very happy with Froyo in other regards. I have not had any battery drain issues or any lag anywhere. I did not do a factory reset.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a ListView that contains an Image on the left of two vertically-oriented TextViews using a RelativeLayout. When both TextViews have text it looks fine. Sometimes the TextView on the bottom won't have any text, and the problem is that the entire layout is several pixels above where it should be because it still reserves that space for text when there isn't any making the entire list have annoying blank gaps. I remember seeing an example of where someone made the layout not reserve the space, but I can't remember how he did it.

It must be something to do with the string being in the database.

View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen I send text messages which are longer than one line but less than 100 characters, sometimes the other person texts back that all they see is an empty box. At first I thought it was the other persons phone but several people are telling me the same thing. This does not always happen, but often. One liners seem to have no problems. I called Rogers tech support and they give me the same aswers all the time for different problems.
1. reset the phone to factory settings(which I already did, and same thing happened)
2. If you would like we can send a replacement phone since the problem seems to be hardware related.( I doubt this, since I can send texts and other person receives them, except the times they receive an empty box)
