View 21 Replies View RelatedThe Android documentation says that best practices are to make two drawable directories - one for HDPI and one for MDPI. It also says that if the MDPI directory doesn't exist and a MDPI device is running the app, it will scale down the HDPI ones so everything looks good. Is there any reason not to just make one high resolution set of graphics? One con that I can think of is performance issues and one pro I can think of is only having one set of images for your app.

View 9 Replies View RelatedThe EVO looks like a sweet phone, and if they ever bring it to Verizon with some LTE love, I'll probably buy one, but does anyone wish that they increased the resolution of the screen just a little to take advantage of that big 4.3" display? Maybe the next gen will. All in all, it looks like a great device, but I don't think it's going to save Sprint from still loosing customers.

I was under the impression that Wireless Tether is a free option for wireless hotspot capability - is using the hacked 3G hotspot less detectible or something?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just rooted my stock 2.1 Droid and am playing with all things I now have access to. I realize I can now delete just about anything in the /system folder. I have already removed a few stock apps (like the Visual Voicemail). I suppose I could also remove unused wallpapers, sounds, etc., but would freeing up this space offer any benefit?

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy current mobile phone is an LG/Sprint Optimus S, whose camera has 3.2 mpx resolution. My previous (and first) smart phone was an HTC Pure which runs Windows Mobile 6.5 and is perhaps better known as the Topaz, Pure being its AT&T edition. The camera on that phone does 5.0 mpx, so it's obviously much better. Even on just the small device screens, you can see the quality difference at a glance.
For a particular objective, I need to be able to take good pictures on the go, but have the Internet connection provided by my current Android device. In other words, I want to take pictures with the HTC, beam them to my Optimus, and then use that to send out the pictures. I was having a bit of trouble getting the devices to work well together in their native states, so I flashed a version of Froyo onto the old HTC. Having done that, I found that the Bluetooth connection between the devices worked quite well. But when I try to use one of the Android camera apps to take pictures on the HTC, it's not taking full advantage of the lens' capability. The photos show up on the screen about the size of a large postage stamp; in fact not much bigger than a thumbnail picture.
Do Android camera apps not work at any better resolution than 3.2?
Is there any advantage in using the Moxier programs on the X10 as opposed to just standard email settings?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn Android's settings, in the "Manage Applications" activity when clicking on an app, the data is broken down into Application, Data, and cache. There is also a button to clear the cache. My app caches audio files and I would like the user to be able to clear the cache using this button. How do I store them so they get lumped in with the cache and the user can clear them?

I've seen posts on how, but don't understand what rooting is. Been anxiously awaiting the first VZW android phones, so am now trying to quickly immerse myself.
View 46 Replies View RelatedAll I keep seeing is people asking for an app that allow screenshots without root. The only solution all have given is installing sdk which is a pain in the bum to do. I have another mini-solution until such an app is developed.
Both Open Home and Home++ have this feature built in. Only negative to it is, you won't be able to take a screenshot of your HTC Sense UI home screen or Android stock home screen only the open home or home++ screen. But for many who are like me and could not run the SDK correctly, this works just fine.
I have an EVO 4G, while running 2.1 I rooted the phone so i can thether. all works fine. My question is do I need to reflash to an original 2.1 rom in order to upgrade to 2.2 or higher. The reason I ask is when I try to upgrade the software through Sprint to 2.2 it crashes. So Im thinking it senses the phone has been rooted. If the answer is yes. I have 2 more questions. 1. Will the flash reset my entire phone reseting everything Ie contacts and such or will it just reset the android. And the other is where can you get an original virgin 2.1 or pos a 2.2 rom thats has not been messed with and is safe safe.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am sure this issue has been thrashed to death but it just isn't working for me and the comments I posted on the guide I was using yielded no responses. After a number of people convinced me to root my phone I used THIS GUIDE to try and root my phone.I am currently using an HTC Magic (Singtel, Singapore) running Android 1.5 with Sense UI (which you can download from the HTC website). So, my phone is completely unrooted, however, I have applied the HTC (official) Sense UI package. I'm not sure if this makes any difference to the settings or method I need to use. When I click on Backup recovery image I got the Failed message. So, I clicked on the hidden asterix and tried to flash the image but I got the same message again. So, essentially I am unable to root using the 1 click method (why is it called one click anyway?)I have looked for a comprehensive guide but wherever I go and whatever I try there seems to be something missing. The CyanogenMod guide was pretty good but it seemed like it expected you to know a few things along the way.
