This json file url contains a group of parameters that I already sent on the url. Jul 22, 2010Recently my HTC Desire got damaged but fortunately I had copied and pasted all the data from my HTC Desire to my laptop. I connected my Desire to my Laptop in 'Disk Drive' mode and copy/pasted all contents/folders.
Now my Desire replacement has not yet arrived. Is there anyway I can access my 'Text' messages that were stored on my Desire in my laptop.
Where will I find those text and do I need some external program to open/view them?

Aug 18, 2010I have a WebView inside the ScrollView. The content of WebView dyanamically changes when it displays different html page. I have the following issue: For example I have A.html, and B.html. The content of B.html is larger than A.html, so the page is longer. When WebView load B.html, the ScrollView stretches its size to enable itself scroll for B.html, then if I go back to A.html, ScrollView doesn't resize itself. (The scroll area is exceed the content of A.html) What I want to have, is dynamic change the scroll area of scroll view to fit the webview's content.

Jul 5, 2009I am trying to play a ringtone that is specified as the Default system ringtone. Unfortunately when i get the actual URI I get the above (content://drm/audio/2) and then when I try to play it, I hear the fallback ringtone - the one that you'd hear if the default was unavailable.
Ringtones appear to get this URI when downloaded through sites such as Myxer and the like.
Now it seems that when the default ringtone is on the SD card under a folder called 'ringtones' I do not run into this problem.
I have tried to add the line:
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_DRM" />
...to the manifest but that doesn't seem to work either.
If anyone has an idea as how I would be able to play this ringtone, I would be eternally grateful! I have been researching this and I can't seem to find anywhere any documentation on how to do this.

Is it possible to access the X-Mms-Content-Location attribute of a message from a MMS message programatically, using the Android SDK?
This is one example of the error that I am investigating. If I can access that attribute, then I may be able to code an app which repairs it so the message retrieval succeeds.

Aug 7, 2010I understand, at least on paper, the basic difference between the Content Provider and just directly accessing the SQLiteDatabase. I have a functioning prototype for my application, and currently it is just directly hitting the database. I don't really have any experience using the Content Provider pattern, but I have found out that I will need to share some data with another application.
I will only be sharing about 2 out of a dozen or so tables, so I was wondering if I should be just completely redoing the data layer to follow the Content Provider pattern, or just expose only those tables via a Content Provider for the sake of the other application and still directly access the database in the primary application.
One of the issues I ran into with my prototype was that I have some fairly complex transactions, and the code I wrote to get that working is not designed particularly well and isn't reusable at all. As I add more functionality to this app, I'm going to need a better designed data access layer, before I set off writing my own, does anyone know of any good resources with design patterns for this type of thing already? Also, if I need to go the Content Provider route, am I going to have solid control over the database transactions?

Mar 5, 2009I'm trying to create a listview containing conversations in chat bubbles, and each chat bubbles are rows in the list view. So what I have is an avatar on the left, and a chat bubble on the right. Then in the chat bubble, I have a textview for name, a textview for content, and a textview for time. The problem is, I cannot adjust the height of the chat bubble such that the bottom edge is just below the textview for time. In the chatBubble, I have this line that does not work android:layout_alignBottom="@+id/timeLabel" because timeLabel is a textview created after chatBubble. If I place chatBubble tags right below timeLabel, the height of chatBubble will be just right because lf the layout_alignBottom, but chatBubble covers all the text created before it.
Is there a way I can create the chatBubble last, and bring the view to the background? Or is there a better way to do this?....................

Jun 9, 2010I know the absolute path of an image (say for eg, /sdcard/cats.jpg). Is there any way to the content uri for this file? Actually in my code I download an image and save it at a particular location. In order to set the image in an ImageView currently I open the file using the path, get the bytes and create a bitmap and then set the bitmap in the ImageView. This is a very slow process, instead if I could get the content uri then I could very easily use the method ImageView.setImageUri(uri)
