I've read that s ome have turned off Sense and have seen an improvement in performance and battery life running vanilla ANDROID.
If one uses Home Switcher does that accomplish the same thing, or is Sense still running in the background?

When i use Home Switcher to switch homes (htc Sense and Launcher Pro) when i go to the app and click use sense as default when i press the home key it still goes back to launcher pro..so when i use sense i need to try to not press home which is annoying! Also i have hand cent sms and i get a double notification. for some reason when i go to messages>menu>settings n go to unchecked received notifications i still for some reason get notifications from the stock. I even went to make sure its unchecked and it is!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI tried using home switcher to make calls but the same problem occurs. I can make a call, If I try to make a call after, the phone will lag on dialing then if it does connect I can't hear. If I receive a call it will answer but no sound. This happened after 2.1. I even did a factory reset and followed the upgrading instructions, everything else is fine except for this.
View 11 Replies View RelatedSo I have Launcher Pro, and I don't always want to use it but I want to every now and than, so I downloaded Home Switcher. I have Regular home set as default, and it shows it is. But when I hit home it always goes to Launcher Pro. I have checked under Applications to make sure it wasn't set as default or anything and it is not. So my question is anyone else having this problem? Or does anyone know how to fix this without just un installing Launcher Pro and reinstalling every time i want to use it?

So if it is out there then I am sorry for the repetitive post.I just updated to 2.1, and can't figure out how to switch to the Home instead of HTC Sense Home? Anyone out there know how to do this? Before on 1.5 OS, all I had to do was hold down the "Home" button to display my most recent 6 apps, then hit the button again to pick if I wanted "Home" or "HTC Sense".Now, that does not work.

Lately I've been noticing that some apps are running in the background when I've not opened them. Footprints, Voice dialer, Messages (I use handcent), Peep and Music are the ones I've noticed and (coincidentally) are all apps I don't use. I only notice them when using Advanced Task Killer and have to kill them. It's a new issue so is it possible another app I downloaded recently is to blame? Am i maybe just insane?
View 8 Replies View Relatedin an attempt to get "adhoc" network support,I did the following installed and ran "Smart WiFi Scanner" which recommended, and I installed some "WiFi Library" to support adhoc networks
I uninstalled the library app. installed and ran "ZT-180 Adhoc Switcher" (the app requested root access, I granted it, then the system shutdown abruptly - i.e. immediately off, not normal shut down)
I turned the phone back on, and tried running the "ZT-180 Adhoc Switcher" app a second time again phone turned off instantly.Now it boots up, system is fully running and loading home screen etc. but then reboots after about 7 seconds, and just continues in this loop.
I decided to install Launcher Pro and Home Switcher last night. Since Launcher Pro's contact button didn't work, I decided to un-install LP. *In case you're wondering, each time I clicked on the Contacts icon/button of LP, I would get an error pop-up saying that it was unable to launch (something to this effect.) Anyway, after I un-installed the LP I decided to also un-install the HS - with using just having to use TW - I figured I don't need HS anymore. So I removed HS from my Applications, but I am STILL getting the pop-up window each time I go to my home screen! So annoying! How do I get this off my home screen? I am trying to avoid doing a Factory Reset, because I don't want to have to input all my contacts manually again! Google didn't sync all my contacts, so this would mean having to start all over on setting up my phone. Unless someone can suggest a contacts backup program to place on my PC?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy eris has always has pretty alright battery life, what I would expect out of a smartphone, if unplugged at 9AM it usually was running on its last leg around midnight. I've had it for over 5 months now, I've always had it activated on alltel, I installed the 2.1v3 leak before the official OTA was out and just lately it seems like there something very wrong with my battery life...
If I unplug my phone at 9AM within the past week and occasionaly check and respond to a text message, my battery had been down to almost 30% by NOON... what?..
I have noticed that if I disable Mobile Network (3g/1x data), the thing lasts all day and some... If I turn mobile network ON, I can't see that I have any network traffic or any apps running in the background that are syncing data at all... I've had google account sync mess up on me before and have to reset my google account because it gets stuck in a syncing loop, but its not doing that, already checked. Very weird.
Anyone thing it could be something wrong in my ##PROGRAM#/##778# provisioning menu, maybe something got changed?.. Maybe it could be do to Alltel's AT&T merger that's happening right now, maybe some 3G tower's radios are turned off or something...
When using a home replacment like Helix, Home++, etc. does the android home still run in the background and reduce performance? I had a lot of stuff on my stock home but just switched to Helix so how do i stop/disable stock home if it is running?

In fact, I've removed all beautiful widgets from all my home screens and home screen replacement apps. Yet for some reason I get the weather thing in my status bar as if I had Beautiful Home running. Which means it's somehow being run without being told to. And it only does this with Sweeter Home.

I noticed that if i dont use the app to kill running apps after i exit them they are still running in the background is this normal for the Android? I am coming from Pre so not sure if they are killed when exited.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIt seems like whenever I play around on the phone for a bit and the go to close my apps with TaskPanel the following are always running even though I didn't touch them:
Alarm Clock
Corporate Calendar
Calendar
Settings
Messaging (even though I have not used it at all)
and one other that isn't showing up right now but was something like mobile.? or
Some of these I don't care if they're running (I assume the Calendar is running since I need it to run for my Google calendar widget to work), but why is Alarm Clock and Corporate calendar always running? Is there a way to turn these off?
I can run an application in background but i want to know how many applications are running in the background.Like in some mobile while pressing the center button a list of currently running applications are displayed.Is this is possible in android.If possible means give some code snippets and steps to achieve this.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been running UD 1.0.0 since the day it dropped, when I installed it I was on vacation and wasn't using my droid much other then playing around with the setting and some internet browsing, like all good things my vacation came to a end at work my phone is used all day texting, incoming and out going calls all day, listening to my scanner app. That's when I found out UD 1.0.0 wasn't going to work for me, I have two batteries and by the end of the work day ( 8-12 hrs) one battery would be dead and the other down to 20%.
I tried different kernels, running only the basic's (no GPS, no WiFi no background light) still got the same results. UD 1.0.0 is a great ROM, but it just doesn't gel with my droid. So I'm back to UD 8.0 with slayher's 1100 kernel set at 800 mhz (1380 quadrant)and the Black N Bold theme running smooth and fast with no problems at all. Best thing is after 8-12 hrs of phone use texting and listening to my scanner I still come home with 20% - 40% battery without even using the spare.
Apps like Corporate Calender and Alarm clock. I have deleted them and they still continue to show as running every time I use Advanced Task Manager. They are not showing on my home screen but must be running in the background, right? How do i permanently get rid of them?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI use Google Latitude with several friends, but have noticed that when I run it in the background, my last know location on the friends phone shows where I "stopped" but never updates. Example: I leave my house with Google Maps/Latitude running and decide I want to listen to DroidLive. Once I switch to DroidLive it appears that Latitude stops broadcasting my locations and my friends see that I'm in the middle of a highway for 30-40 minutes until I kill my music and go back to the maps. Is this a known "bug" or is it something that just doesn't work? I thought that the processes would continue to work, but I might be wrong. I also notice that when launching another app while in Google Maps that my GPS indicator also stops until I get back into the Maps.

The services onStart creates a Mediaplayer and starts playing an mp3 file.
Then when you click something in my main layout (from the main activity), I call startActivity to fire another screen. I would assume my music background service keeps running, however it finishes. How can I achieve my goal then? code...

View 4 Replies View Relatedok so to make a educated decision, i downloaded from the market, home++ and GDE. so technically with default home app, i now have three to choose from. noticed that when press my home button it wants me to decide what home app to use and all three come up. does this mean that all 3 are running? is this sucking the life out of my phone? i have heard the whole android moves memory to running apps thing so i am wondering should i remove one of them since i cant remove the default one?
