Android :: How To Read Passive RFID Cards Using Droid?

Aug 4, 2010

I am working on Android application (Droid Incredible). I am planning to read passive RFID tags using Android phone but I found that there is no slot for Android to connect to RFID reader. After some research, I found out that I will have to get RFID reader which can send RF data over bluetooth to Android. But I am not sure which company manufactures it or what will be cost of such RFID reader. Is there any one who can help me or throw some light on this issue?

I have the HTC incredible, and I would like for it to be able to read memory cards other than the micro sd. Android :: RFID Reader For Androids? Or Bluetooth Work Around?

Aug 4, 2010

I would like to ask you, is there any RFID-reader available for any Android smartphones in the market? If not, do you think I could use the bluetooth for a work-around? I was thinking to use bluetooth-transmitters to send out messages and receive and decode the messages from an Android phone, do you think something like that is doable and realistic?

Android :: Why Cards Are Stacked Against Droid?

Aug 17, 2010

UP front just let me say I "hope" the Android stomps Apple. That said, I think it will have a rough time of doing so. Why? Well, for one the primary purveyor of Android does not derive a primary source of income from their efforts. Second, the companies providing Androids have no real reason nor ability to continually refine Android proper. And that last point really bugs me. The phone manufactures are not software developers and that leads to two issues, 1) they don't understand what it takes to develop software and 2) they are motivated to not do so. By point number 2 I mean they make money pumping out new phones. If they provide new things in currently deployed phones they are just cutting themselves out of revenue. What is the solution? Well for one how about they start charging for OS upgrades just like MS and Apple do? Would the market bear this?

HTC Droid Eris :: Swapping Memory Cards

Feb 3, 2010

So I just got my class 6 8gb memory card and I want to make the switch. What's the best way to go about this? Should I just copy all contents of the stock memory card into a folder and then copy and past all of that onto the new card and then make the switch? Or is there a better way? I don't want to screw anything up and I don't want to lose anything (pics, music, settings, etc.)

Motorola Droid :: Cannot Flash New ROMs After Swapping SD Cards

Oct 4, 2010

I got a Droid 2 recently and decided to put the 16GB card from my O.G. Droid but before so I wiped everything from it, minus my pictures and videos. My Droid 1 is rooted and I wanted to go back to it but now when I try to flash a rom it doesn't work and it looks like a bunch of stuff is missing from the SD card or whatever it needs for clockwork to do its magic. So the question is what do I need to do to get back to where I can flash roms willy nilly like before? Do I need to go to stock then re-root or is there a more simple way?

HTC Droid Eris :: Faster - Bigger SD Cards - Responsiveness

Dec 30, 2009

Being new to the Eris and smartphones in general, I apologize in advance if I've missed something common-knowledge...

Today I got a 16GB Class 6 SD card in the mail, one to both max out storage and to settle a hunch -- that the class of card (i/o speed) would noticeably affect how the Eris responded. Class 6 cards are about 30 - 50% more cash than Class 2, but triple the rated write speed. Just happened to find one cheap enough to try it out...

Wow. Not only has everything from the pattern unlock screen to the browser become far more responsive, but the stutter for actions in the Sense UI is gone.

Now, for the circumstances... formatted the new card and copied the entire old card's contents onto it w/USB & my desktop. Added another 2GB of music while mounted... still slick. Mind you, tasks themselves don't happen any faster... just the delay between them I'd gotten used to, vanished...

Am I missing something? I'd hate to get anyone's hopes up, if this is just something that only resembles a performance tweak. Either the system or software use SD memory more than I'm aware, or this is all in my head. All I can say for certain is that my Eris is much nicer to use now.

Android :: Thoughts On SD Cards

Jul 26, 2010

After reading a lot in the eris forum about the SD Card debate, I've decided to drop the cash on a 32GB card. However, since I haven't made the purchase yet, I was wondering what some of you thought of the brands. There is a class 2 sandisk out there a brand I know very well, but its only a class two. Then there are two brands I have never heard of: 3C and Topram. Has anybody had any experience with these brands? If so, what do you think of them? The cards are cheaper and faster (in theory) than the sandisk, but if it's a bad brand, then I don't think it'll be worth it.

Android :: Wallet App That Uses Phone's Camera To Scan Cards For Backup?

Sep 1, 2010

Is anyone aware of a wallet app that uses the phone's camera to scan cards for backup? i don't really relish the idea of manually entering all my card nos. and info when the camera scanner function works so well recognizing business cards.

you know, I'd like to slap my credit card on the table, open the app and scan the card. the app should recognize the cc logo (mc, visa, discover, etc), card no., exp. date and prompt me for the verification no. on the back.

the app should be able to recognize most of the card types that people typically keep in the wallets: drivers license, library card, health ins, auto ins., loyalty cards. for those that it doesn't recognize by scan, the user should be able to select from a list or enter a "custom" type.

i haven't found anything like this. does one exist?
