Android : Security When Using Credit Cards /paypal?
Aug 11, 2010
How secure is it to make purchases from The Market or other websites using an android phone? If for instance, anyone else gets their hands on my phone, are there any records of credit card / paypal etc details that they can access?

Is there an app that I can use to maintain the balances of multiple credit cards? The app does not need to be able to directly access the credit card's balances online (straight thru online banking), but I must be able to add transactions and update it manually. I also should be able to manage multiple cards without the app adding the balances of all cards into a grand total (balance).

I am integrating Paypal into my application for in-app purchase. I am using Paypal Mobile Checkout for this purpose. I will like to know whether Android Market will approve this kind of application which uses a payment gateway other than Google Checkout. Can anyone let me know where I can find information related to this?

I read on the web that Paypal can be used as a payment method for buying apps in the marketplace... They said the service would be released in Q2 but it's July now and I can't seem to find a way to use paypal as a payment method. Am I missing something or has it not been released yet? Or what?

It might sound a little odd but I am in the final phases of finishing up my app that would pay users. There is an activity in the app where as and when the users use the app, money keeps accruing. I have a button in that activity called Cash Out which when the user reaches a certain amount can be clicked and is supposed to let the users take the money accrued from the app. I have contacted Google Checkout and Paypal so far and Paypal suggested personal payments can be integrated in my case and sent me the Paypal for Android API doc. The doc itself is very useful but does not describe this kind of a scenario that I am looking for. Any clues how to integrate such a functionality.

I have already asked this question regarding Payment Gateway Integration into Android, but didn't got any satisfactory answers.
Can someone let me know is it actually possible to integrate any of the above mentioned Payment Gateways into Android?
Mostly I think we can call their Web Services and then consume those services which will be in XML.
I will like to know if someone has done the same thing or is absolutely sure about this.
I want to develop a shopping cart type application where the user needs to purchase the products from the list of products. Once the user selects the product, the payment should be made directly from the same application only and not by opening Google Checkout or Paypal mobile website.
Please let me know what you people think about this. Hope to get the answer quickly.

Does anyone have a solution to the issue when using the mobile paypal site?
When using ebay it directs you to the mobile site, which never works right and is utterly worthless and the app doesn't do much better, is the a way to get back the full version of paypal and avoid the mobile site?

I'm not a great mobile phone user and until recently used to get by with an old Nokia pay-as-you go. My iPod Touch recently got stolen, so I was looking for a replacement and thought if I got myself an Android phone (although I had no experience with Android), I could still listen to music and even have a camera, whilst having less in my pocket.
So I bought myself a Vodaphone 845 pay-as-you-go running Android 2.1 the other day and popped my old SIM card in it. The day after I bought the phone, it started beeping at me at regular intervals because it was sending me lots of text messages telling me all my credit was gone. I topped it up with € 10 wondering why I suddenly had no more credit - although there was not much in the first place. To be on the safe side, I turned off a couple of running applications and checked the credit again at the end of the day to find that it had not been reduced.
That night I turned the phone off, but when I turned it back on again, I noticed that the credit was steadily going down. This time I can't seem to stop it. I also discovered that all the services/applications I previously turned off were now running again after the phone had been rebooted.
I can't say I understand the technology (yet), but I assume something in/on the phone is trying to call home (via the SIM card?). But what? I have now also turned off the WiFi and the location finding settings, but the credit is still going down.
The applications I have installed so far ar Market, Google Navigator, and My Tracks.

I've tried to help myself but a good hour going round the Android and Google troubleshooters and whatever else they are called has been unsuccessful.

For those who applied to get your payout limit removed, Google Finance required personal information (like SSN) with the understanding that they "may" be performing routine credit history verifications. Does this concern you? I understand each credit check run on you by any institution (bank, mortgage, etc) lowers your credit score. I can't understand how (or why) Google finance needs to do this. Also, does anyone know how often they do these credit checks?

So I had a question about Credit Card info, after you put it in when purchasing an APP from the Market and it saves your CCard info, how do you "Log out" or in other words stop it from having my CCard info auto logged there under "Select Card" so that if someone is using my phone they cant purchase APPs without having to re-enter all the info?
