I need to store my how-to videos on a server so they play back on an Android app via a simple html <a href> link. So far, I haven't found one yet. Livedrive is out. Some web hosts are out because they don't want to be a place to store videos, etc.

I want to playback youtube videos on android. I came to know (from the below mentioned link) that adobe demostrated flash player for android, but they haven't released the code yet. Is there an alternative way to playback youtube video's on android? Is there an application that supports flash content playback on android already (though I couldn't find any on "android market" or related sites) or any development work is underway?

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust got my long awaited Desire. US Cellular CDMA Desire Version. When I playback a video the picture quality is terrible. The movements lag, big time. [B]With being new I have a couple of question, as to why this is happening or is it normal?
1. Do I need a different software (app) for playback of videos?
2. Do I need to download some sort of plug in?
3. Is it because, I don't have Froyo 2.2 yet?
As most of you have had the HTC Desire for sometime, as we just got them in the USA; I was hoping someone could chime in and help me.
I wanted so show a friend the new Lady Gaga video on my evo. However I noticed it wasn't available for mobile playback as well as a number of other videos. Here is a very simple solution.
Step 1 - You need firefox (if your still on ie, you should switch to firefox anyway)
Step 2 - Install Easy YouTube Video Downloader HERE
Step 3 - Once installed, load up your favorite music on youtube such as Alejandro!
Step 4 - You will now see a new set of links below the video as shown below
Step 5 - Click MP4 and it will instantly start downloading without doing anything else. I have tried the other formats and have found mp4 to be the best for the evo.
Step 6 - Once the video is down downloading, locate the file, connect your evo with data cable, make sure to select disk drive on the screen, open up the removable drive from my computer, make a folder called Videos, drag the file you downloaded to the folder, close the window and disconnect the cable.
Step 7 - Open up your Videos folder under All Aps, you will now see the video there with a thumbnail and you can now play it offline.
Conclusion - The only reason I did this was because some of the videos I couldn't play back via the YouTube app, but it is nice to have them saved so your not using data not that it really matters but will save on battery and loads instantly. I also tried 720P and couldn't get it to play on the evo but I think the MP4 format looks just fine on the evo (depending on the source of course) and it also doesn't take up very much room. Best part it it's VERY FAST to do this, no re-encoding or doing all this other crap to get it to play. It's plug and play.
In my application, I want the database to contain some videos. Is it possible to store videos in database? If it is possible give me sample link. if not so how can i display a video
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I've went into the /data/data/com.snapchat.android/ folder, and it is only about 200KB, so the image/video files can't be stored there.
I also noticed if you have a new message, and you close and open the app, it will have to redownload it. So it seems that snapchat is storing the images in the RAM.
So I dumped the ram of my snapchat PID, using this method. I had to download a compiled gdb binary.
I then used photoRec to scan all the *.dump files [I concatenated them all first, the file was about 100MB]. For filesystem I said "Other."
All I got was one txt file. It seemed to be xml, and contained a lot of usernames of my friends, but that's all.
I added about 4 gigs of music and 2 gigs of movies to the internal memory of my Inc. Now the music files play when I go into the music player, but when I go into Astro file manager, I can't find the videos or music anywhere. I put them under music and video folders, but nothing. They still show when I am on the computer connected to the phone.I know it isn't the file either, because I added the same movie to the 2 gig card, and it's showing up under astro for that.

So now I bow to someone else's superior knowledge, where the heck do you store them? Tried Video, Media, getting desperate DCIM file and just plain old root of the SD card.I know 3rd party apps can find them... got MixZing and it found it no problem from the video file.

Anyone figured out what the magical combination is to make videos actually play on the phone from a DLNA server? I have tried Tversity and a few others changing all the settings around to find a combination that would work. Most of the settings I tried should have worked based on the formats supported on the X matching the transcode settings I had on Tversity but no luck.

View 1 Replies View RelatedBeen struggling with this since receiving my X. Seems like no matter what player I use the playback is jerky. It's very subtle, almost as if the video is dropping a frame or so every second. I've tried the stock player, Astro, Rockplayer, mPlayer, Zimly, Act, and the list goes on and the problem still persists.
I've encoded (using handbrake) with all of the settings suggested on the boards and have tweaked things on my own trying to find the proper setting, but still no luck. The strange and frustrating thing is that the exact same files play just fine on my 1st gen iPod touch (clearly an inferior piece of hardware) and on my wife's incredible. These encodes are of standard def DVDs at average settings (a full movie is about 1.3gb, all h.264 mp4 files.
I was able to improve playback by rebooting the X and then playing the video, but this doesn't seem like an acceptable solution every time I want to watch something. I tend to encode and watch a lot of stuff on my commute to/from work, and I'd really like to replace my touch with the X, but the media capabilities are falling way short. Considering switching to the Inc as I know it's able to play my media properly, but I'd prefer to keep the X for the larger screen size (though the Inc does seem to feel better when using one-handed). I'm on the fence right now, but if the X can't function as expected then it might be going back. Unfortunately I only have until the 1st to return it so I don't think I can hold out and see if 2.2 fixes this issue.
Tonight I was setting another album to offline in Spotify when it reported I ccouldn't save any more music. Bit puzzled seeing as i've got a 16gb SD card in there. Turns out Spotify is only using the internal SD card :S totally burnt out my 8gb already! I see no option in Spotify to select where to place the offline store, anyone else in the ssame 8gb boat?

One thing I can't figure out is where dose the pictures get store to.(The Actual Directory) I did download ASTRO(Great Tool) but still am unable to hunt the actual store directory that the pics gets store to. Dose anybody know where this is. I also need to find out once I connect my phone to the PC how to get it off of the phone to my PC and or server. once I connect to PC all I see is the SD card and there isn't much in there.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using myPlayer to download videos to watch during my commute. Even though the myPlayer app recommends arcMedia to play the downloaded videos, I've found that the default Videos app works just fine, and is a bit better thanks to the Dolby Mobile sound.
However... after downloading the video to the phone, the video takes an age to show up in the Videos app's list. I can usually prod the app into re-scanning the SD card for videos my unmounting and remounting the card, but that's a bit of a pain. Does anyone know of a way of just getting the Videos app to have another look for new files?
(I know, it's not a major hassle to remount the SD card, but I'm an ex-iPhone guy and used to the 'it just works' way of doing things...
Using appbrain on my PC seems to work fine when I'm not logged in. When I do log in and try to click on an app I get this error message:
"Error: Server Error The server encountered an error and could not complete your request. If the problem persists, please report your problem and mention this error message and the query that caused it."
Anyone else have this issue when using Appbrain on their pc?
Well, It looks like I solved the problem. I just deleted my account and created it again and it's fixed (for now).
Is this something I have to deal with or is there a setting I'm missing somewhere? Same thing w/ the calendar reminders. I have dismissed them on my phone but they still come up in outlook when I get home.

Tried it using the stock video player and the Act 1 player. I converted them using Handbrake as mp4 videos. I have been poking around with different settings for about an hour now and nothing has worked.

And maybe I thought it was just that portion but it wasnt the whole video plus all my videos play hic uppy now. Anyone else having the same problem? Is this issue happening because of the froyo update.
View 5 Replies View RelatedOne issue that I can't seem to remember being a problem on my G1 is that I can still hear notifications while music, video, or the FM Radio is being played back. Obviously, I can't really test the FM Radio bit on my G1, but I'm certain that this wasn't an issue when playing music or watching videos (including YouTube). It wouldn't be much of a problem if the notification didn't completely mute the sound of whatever else I'm doing for however long it plays. Anyone else notice this? Is there a work around I'm not seeing in the settings?

Lately my Desire is stuttering during playback, the song will stop for anything from a fraction of a second to 2-3 seconds, then carry on. I've reformatted my card and put everything back on but it still does it. Has anyone else encountered this? I'm sure it didn't do it originally, but lately it's happening a lot. I've read about the headphone socket occassional problem, but this stuttering occurs even if I use the phone speaker. Do I need a faster card if my MP3's are at this quality? I'd be surprised, because most MP3 songs available to buy are now offered at this quality.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThat would be nice video player if you could play compressed divx movies without encoding them in a program to h264 or mp4.One way I know you can play divx on a G1 Phone is to take your Divx movie and convert it using a program called XvidforPsp then put the video settings for the screen resolution for the androids phone or just select apples iphone presets and encode the video in h264 or mp4 then move the file to your memory card and open it in video player.I did this and it works great for watching your divx movies on a G1.Just whish i didnt have to do the extra steps.
