Not sure if im missing something here. I have the messaging app on my home screen. So when I click on the messaging icon it pulls up a list of all my contacts. I then choose a contact and it then gives me options to call or sms the contact.
How is this anything to do with messaging. When pressing the messaging app I would expect my sms inbox to come up.. Have I broke it?

When I hit the "phone" button on my HTC wildfire it brings up all my contacts on both my SIM card and in the phone memory. Is there anyway that I can see just the SIM card contacts as it shows up all of my contacts twice! When I hit the HTC people button it will just bring up a list of each contact only once, but this takes a few seconds to load.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've just got my Wildfire and I'm pretty much satisfied, there's one thing that bothers me though. When I press the "phone" button, the list of contacts appears with a keypad. Everything's fine except for the fact, that I have all my contacts doubled - it displays those from the phone memory as well as those from the sim card. Now - this does not apply to the regular "people" list. in its menu, you can tap "view" and select the items you want to see. so I unchecked "Sim" and "Google" contacts and all I have is a neat list of phone contacts. I cannot find any such option for the phone list. Yes, I could use the "contacts" list to find people but there's another problem - it does not offer this awesome filtering by keypad that is present in the "phone" list. I can only open the keypad and type exact parts of people's names using either standard input or t9. what happens in the "phone" list, is that it seeks for contacts already on basis of the keypad button you've pressed. for example, in order to type Tom using normal input, you have to press 8 6 6 6 6. In the 'phone' list you only have to press 8 and 6. all in all, the best thing would be to have both worlds combined. but the easiest way to solve my problem would be simply to disable SIM contacts from the regular phone list. Otherwise I'll have to delete them from my simcard, which is not the best solution.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have my phone set to display only numbers on the SIM (or only on the phone.. doesn't really matter) so that in the contacts app and the contacts section of the phone app I don't have duplicates of everything. However, even when this is working correctly, in the contacts section of the text messaging app, it still shows two of everything.

I have been working with this api example, to produce an expandable list of items (note this example does not use the ExpadableListView).In playing with the example, I tried to add another widget that would become visible and be gone at the same time as the text (mDialogue in the sample code). This works well with another TextView, but as soon as I tried to add a button widget, it stopped working. The list would expand on first click, showing my hidden TextView and Button, but it will not disappear on further clicks. The button is however, clickable, and I was able to set up an onClick listener to change the button text back and forth.I'm starting to wonder, is it just not possible to have a clickable item inside a clickable list item? Or is there some kind of work around? Would it solve my problem if I used ExpandableListView?

After a forum search I was able to get rid of the notifications from the default messaging app, so thanks to the forum for that. Is there any way to replace the default messaging app's screen with Hand cent? Every time I click on the Avatar icon it says "File Not Found". It happened recently, I had it for two days and it worked fine.I was looking up this problem on the internet and someone said a reason why its not there anymore is because when I connected my Vibrant to my computer via USB, I didn't disconnect my phone from the computer "safely" which might have corrupted some files which pretty much sounds exactly like my situation. I have a solution idea though I don't know if it would work. My brother has a Vibrant as well. I thought maybe I copy his Avatar movie file to my phone and maybe it would work?

Today I accidentally removed one of the short keys from the home screen and I'm not able to get it back to it's place. To be more exact, it is the messaging short key which is located on the bottom bar of the screen. The other ones (Phone, Contacts & Applications) are still the, but when I'm trying to return the messaging icon back to the bottom bar, I always end up with the trash can over the area where I'm supposed to place the icon.What can I do, How do I get the icon back on the home screen?

Its relentless and can only be cleared by dropping down the notification window and clicking on 'clear'. It looks like a small envelope but not very good graphically. Users can access their local library of books and search for books using a remote web service. The app will be aware of other users of the app through this web service, and users can browse other users' lists of books in their library. Each book is identified by a unique bookId (represented as an int). When viewing books returned through a search result or when viewing another user's book library, the individual list row cells need to visually represent if the book is in the user's local library or not. A user can have at most 5,000 books in the library, stored in SQLite on the device (and synchronized with the remote web service). My question is, to determine if the book shown in the list row is in the user's library, would it be better to directly ask SQLite (via SELECT COUNT(*)...) or to maintain, in-memory, a List or int[] array of some sort containing the unique bookIds.
So, on each row display do I query SQLite or check if the List or int[] array contains the unique bookId? Because the user can have at most 5,000 books, each bookId occupies 4 bytes so at most this would use ~ 20kB. In thinking about this, and in typing this out, it seems obvious to me that it would be far better for performance if I maintained a list or int[] array of in-library bookIds vs. querying SQLite (the only caveat to maintaining an int[] array is that if books are added or removed I'll need to grow or shrink the array by hand, so with this option I'll most likely use an ArrayList or Vector, though I'm not sure of the additional memory overhead of using Integer objects as opposed to primitives).
if i want to go to the Google, just click the "Google" of the list, but it just active when i click on the word "Google" because i wish can click anywhere if it's click on the same raw of "Google" word but now i must click on the "word"(Google or Yahoo!), how can solve??

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a list using a customized BaseAdapter. When one element of the list is hit during a long time, a contextual menu appears. I want to use this one to delete or edit the selected item but I don't know how to get id or anything else that could help me.
I tried getListView.getSelectedItem() thinking that it will give me the object returned by the method getItem(int position) inherited in my customized BaseAdapter. I got null. When I tried getSelectedItemId(), I got -1.
Does someone have a solution?
i am trying to develop this app in android that has 3-4 buttons and a list being displayed below them. each button when clicked must reload the list with new contents based on which button was clicked.
each row in the list has a picture and two lines of text.
