I've downloaded the Eclipse and ADT plugins for the SDK. My question is of the most basic kind, where is Eclipse supposed to be installed? It's a ZIP instead of an executable installer, so I'm left to figure out what folder to unzip it to.

On my brand new Windows 7 machine, I downloaded Eclipse (Galileo) and several Eclipse plugins (Android's ADT plugin, Subclipse, etc.) After rebooting, neither of these plugins are showing up in the IDE (nothing in the preferences, menus, etc.) but if I click "Installation Details" in the 'About Eclipse' popup, I see all of the plugins listed as Installed Software. (ex. Android DDMS 0.9.5, Subclipse 1.6.5, etc.) How do I get my plugins to work?

Some websites require to use Firefox and install JAVA or plugins to play movies. But when I use Chrome to open these webs and click on the guided link to download JAVA, it told me that there is no suitable version yet.
When I use Firefox to open these webs, it said there are no plugins, and didn't tell me what plugins.But I can open these movies on webs using android 3.1 or lower.
So, is it because ICS 4.0.3 hasn't supported to open webs which require JAVA or there are other ways to open these movies?
When I run my application on a physical phone from within Eclipse, my Google MapView works perfectly. If export the app to an apk file and install it to the same phone from the command line with adb then the MapView comes up but shows only the Google logo and grid - no map tiles appear. I'm using a debug application key and a GMaps API key generated with that debug key. I've verified that this happens on both the Droid and N1 phones. The logcat looks identical in both the working and non-working cases - no obvious error messages.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm just getting started developing for Android and I'm running into a weird problem.
First off, I'm running Eclipse for Java devs v3.5.2 with the Android 2.1 SDK installed.
Basically, whenever I do just about anything the "gen" (R.java, etc.) folder will just disappear from the project. I'm seen some people online say that it was still on the drive, just gone from the project listing in Eclipse, but in my case it is literally and completely gone.
The only fix I've found is that if I refresh, then try to build, it gives an error and "gen" shows up in the project view (though it's not on the disk), then delete it from within the project, then Rebuild All and it will say that it cannot find it and is recreating it.
Problem is, I have to do this every single time I want to build.
There's got to be a fix for this.
I cant see or reference the anim folder in the res folder.
When I go in the res folder it is also not there, I need the anim folder for animation.
Am I supposed to see it, or is it hidden?
I am experiencing an annoying problem with an Android project in Eclipse. All my other Android projects are okey (at the moment). Whenever I perform a clean (Menu:Project->Clean...) the project gives an error and I can't compile/run the app. The error is: Project 'Project Name' is missing required source folder: 'gen'
As soon as I edit some code the problem disappears until I perform a clean again. I can also right-click on the gen-folder and delete it. Eclipse will recreate the gen-folder and the problem disappears until I perform a clean. This is not a showstopper but it is really annoying since I sometimes have to do a clean before I run the app.
Whenever I do a Clean on my project, I get 2 errors:
1.) The project is missing gen folder.
2.) There is a build path error.
I go to "Configure build path" and uncheck "Android 1.6". It works. If I do this again, I go and this time check "Android 1.6". It again works.
I am not able to view SDCard folder in FileExplorer of DDMS in Android.
But I was able to view SDCard folder when I used adb command from command prompt like below:
androidsdk ools>adb shell
$ ls
I am able to view list of folders when I typed ls in which I can see sdcard folder from the list of folders .my doubt how can we view the sdCard option in Eclipse using FileExplorer.Also I want I want to delete or insert some files in sdcard.How can this be possible for me.can anyone hel me in sorting out this issue.

I would like to install an APK from within an Android application. Can anyone give me an example of how to do this? Also how do I open the install applications from unknown resources preference page so that users can change it? I actually meant open the screen using code, so I can immediately open the preference page for the user to simply check the box, and press back. Is it possible to check to see if they allow non-market apps? Can an application request permission enough to do this?

I recently upgraded my HTC incredible from CM 7.1 to AOKP. Ever since the upgrade I cannot install any of my APKs from Eclipse or ADB. In Eclipse I get the error:

Why this is happening? If I move the apk to my SD card first it installs just fine.
I really don't want to go back to CS 7.1 just to get the ability to develop apps back
I have a with regards to an update feature that I am trying to put in my application. I am wondering if it is possible for an application to download a new apk and install it inside the /data/app- private folder (which i presume is for copy protected apps)?

I am new to android and I currently got a droid so I could test out apps before publishing them to the market. My question is how to I get the app from Eclipse to the Droid and install it? Currently I open eclipse right click the project go to android tools and do export unsigned version. I then copy that file from my computer to the droid. I then open ASTRO to navigate to the file. When I click to install it says Application Not Installed. If any could help or link a good straight forward way to do this that would be great.

Or Is there a way to directly install the APK and make it available for my application?
I'm using the Android plugin for Eclipse on OSX, latest versions of everything. When I run or debug my app, Eclipse is very inconsistent about uploading/installing the new APK. Nothing I seem to do has any effect on this. Clean builds, debug, whatever, there seems to be about 50/50 chance of installing the APK. Or not. If not, then I have to kill the emulator and try again. What is going in?

Anyway, I decided to dabble in some real programming for Android, and I hit a (minor) hurdle. As I was going through the Android Developer tutorial, I tried to run the app on my phone. Eclipse threw this at me:

Except NOTHING happened on my phone. No app popped up, nothing in my app drawer, nothing happened. I have USB Debugging enabled, I've used ADB with this phone and laptop at least a thousand times, and I've even been in fastboot. Why Eclipse says everything is okay, but it really isn't?

I've installed the Android SDK and the ADT plugin, but Android doesn't show up in the Window>Preferences dialog.I'm running Galileo. If I go to the Installation Details part of the About Eclipse dialog, it says that I have 0.9.6 of Android DDMS and Android Development Tools. I can run adb from the command line. I tried going around the uninstall/reinstall loop once.I'm on Windows Vista. I also have 2.7.7 of the Scala plugin installed, but I tried uninstalling that.
