I have noticed that when I listen to voice mails through visual voicemail they sound scratchy, quite, computerized or fuzzy, but when I go to the phone and dial my voicemail the sound quality is great, loud and clear!

I just received a mandatory update for my Visual Voicemail app. It downloaded and installed without a problem. I think I had read about this update somewhere a few days ago. It kept on shilling an add-on service from Sprint for voicemail to text transcription service. I do not mind being asked once about a service because I can just decline. However, this advertisement insists on on rearing its ugly head every time you restart your handset and go to use the Visual Voicemail app again.

Am I missing something or can I only use the google visual voice mail with my google #? I cannot seem to figure out how to pick up my voice mail when people call my cell phone.

I've flashed gapps, and vvm and gapps is working great, vvm not so much.. am I doing something wrong? I've gotten 4 texts to tell me I have voicemail but I'm not able to get them w/vvm. I love this theme and I don't want to have to change it due to vvm problems!
I just want to know if I am having a problem or if their Hero does not support this feature? My BT works fine for everything else I have tried but will not let me listen to VVM playback.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I receive a voice mail, it shows up in the visual voice mail application like it always does. Everything is normal EXCEPT ... When I play the voice mail I hear nothing. The time bar moves as it is playing, but nothing can be heard. This has been happening for the past 3 days. I then have to access my VMs through the traditional "Dial #1" portal. I love visual VM though, and would like to fix this. Does anyone know what the problem might be and/or have had this problem before?
Note: I am not using a task killer, and I don't even have one downloaded on my UNROOTED Hero.

Mine is terrible, would much rather call voicemail than listen to that junk.
Anyone else having issues with the volume and or quality of visual voicemail? I can hardly hear any of my messages when using visual Voice Mail. However if I call my voicemail, volume and quality are fine. Obviously something is getting lost when your voice mail is getting routed through a data connection.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSort of two things which might be related. I've been having call quality issues with this phone since I got it. I thought it sounded very electronic and could hardly stay on the phone. Took it to a Sprint store and they did a soft reset and said they couldn't duplicate the issue. I made some calls, some said it sounded better. As long as I have the volume turned down it seems to be okay. But then it's hard to hear what they are saying. If I turn up the volume it sounds like someone is yelling too loudly too close to a microphone. Like bad speakers rattling or something (especially with "s" sounds).
On my headset which was $100 and worked so well on my old phone (people couldn't even tell I was on a headset) the person on the other side either says it's "okay" or says they can definitely tell I'm distant, to one friend saying it was "awful." When listening to Visual Voice Mail it's awful sound, regardless of the volume. Want to try to get a new phone, but then worried I'll have one of the other issues everyone else is having (WiFi or GPS or whatever).
I did a bit of searching on here, and definitely did my due dillegence researching online, however, I was unable to get confirmation on a few points regarding the Hero. I'm hoping someone here can provide some insight. 1. I understand that with Android (unless you mod it, which I most likely will not be doing) you cannot run applications from the SD Card. That being said, the Hero comes with 512MB internal storage, and say hypothetically, I have 350 contacts, never delete text messages or call log and have 60 apps installed (most likely, no games, which i understand take up the most room), will the storage provided suffice? What gets stored on internal memory besides apps? 2. Has visual voicemail been confirmed? I've seen Sprint documentation stating it was, however, I haven't seen it referenced or demonstrated in any of the 25 or so reviews I've read. 3. How does the calendar, mail and contact clients stack up against WinMo? I rely heavily on my calendar, as it's synced with my company's exchange server. It basically keeps my life organized on every level, so I'd really need it to be pretty solid. Again, I haven't really seen this touched on in any of the reviews. Same with mail. Contacts I guess I've seen reviewed pretty extensively because of the integration it has with all of the social networking and whatnot, so my main concern are the calendar and the mail clients.

But when I call in to my voice mail and hear the female voice of the menu system, she is very scratchy. It doesn't matter what volume level I am at either, it's almost as if the sound quality of the VM system is just extremely poor.When I use my Droid speaker for other things I don't hear this at all. I watched several movie trailers in high quality on YouTube and turned the volume to max and it was as clear (and loud) as I could ever hope.So has anyone else noticed this?I wonder why this occurs?

Is it true visual voicemail where you can select which message you want to hear first and play them in order of priority or is it an email visual voicemail where you actually read the voicemail as a text. I never had a phone with vis voice so I am interested in finding out how it works.

What I want to know is, what do people think about the Sprint visual voicemail that comes on the Hero as it compares to google's VM. Besides transcription, are there any benefits? View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I didn't set up my voicemail yet, but the phone has been doing it for me, I guess. My previous voice mails and my 9 year old OGA have all been deleted. When I use the "Visual" voice mail, which btw, is hardly visual, it's more like photo voice mail. No visual text to read. The only two options I have are speaker or earpiece. Bluetooth does not work! When holding it to my ear to listen in private, the phones sensors never pick up the fact that the phone is near my face, and the screen stays active. Touch your face with it, and who knows what function you activate. And the audio quality is bad. You know who it is, but the sampling rate, or codec they use is low quality and you get a tinny buzzing sound constantly while the vm is being played back. Am I using this wrong, or is this just an Epic Fail on the part of the software?

When I switched over, I noticed that the Incredible had a VVM app native to HTC, and I have been using that app. However, the $2.99 service is still on my VZW account which started when I was using the Storm. If I'm not using VZW's VVM app, do I need to pay the $2.99 a month to get VVM using HTC's app?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone and put fresh 1.1 on it a couple days ago, it received calls after rooting, but recently it stopped receiving calls, and it never received texts or visual voice mails. Gmail still pushes new email to it, and the internet works fine to update things and look at websites.
I tried to restore with nandroid and it took fresh off of it but it still doesn't do text, don't know about calls but i doubt it. also when i rooted it i removed sprint tv, nascar, foot prints and a couple other stock apps. after i found it wasn't getting texts i removed advanced task killer, but it didn't have any effect.
Does anyone know of the weather app that does full screen visual for the 1.5 ROM? For example on the video of the EVO, the sun shows up under the clock and the rays are animated full screen. Clouds example and vid in the links below:

I hearing them tell me that they called and left me a voicemail, I decided to call 1 on my phone and lo and behold, I had more than 40 missed voice messages. NONE of which I was notified or had in my visual voicemail. When all is said and done, I haven't received a visual voicemail or a notification of a voicemail since June 30! What is wrong with my phone and how can I fix it?

(I know I could just use GV, but I would rather stick with the stock app for the time being.)
Sometimes, not all the time, but sometimes, my voice mail doesn't d/l to visual vm on the phone. I get notified of a voicemail and I have to dial in and listen to it on the server.
Anyone else having this problem? I cannot duplicate it, as it has only happened to me twice and I couldn't tell you the circumstances under which it happened. Nothing out of the ordinary?
Sitting here waiting on my Incredible to arrive, and I was just curious as to how many of you actually opted for the $2.99 charge to take advantage of the visual voicemail service offered by Verizon?
I like the convenience of not having to call my VM number and enter my pin when I receive a VM, but a part of me is saying it's not worth the charge.
I don't receive or make a lot of calls, as I mainly text and use data, so phone calls don't make up that great of a percentage of my actual use of the phone.
Is the service always accurate? When I had T Mobile, sometimes the VVM wouldn't work. I would miss a call and receive a VM but I would have to call the number to retrieve it.
