When I am connected via WiFi the Android Market will not download. It will just stay at "Starting Download". I have to cancel the download and try again after turning wifi off. And yes, I have tested this on a number of hotspots (my own, some friends WiFi, Starbucks, my office, etc.).

I've been having a problem for the last few hours where my Hero refuses to download anything without a WiFi connection. I've been messing with it and it seems like my mobile network isn't connecting correctly. I had to power down the phone earlier because it froze to black screen and I couldn't escape out of it and ever since then its been problematic. My Mobile network icon says "standby for connecting to mobile network" I'm not sure if thats bad or good, never actually looked at it. Any help or am I gonna want to do a factory reset?

I'd really like to find a way to automatically delete stuff on the Hero as I delete stuff on the exchange server. Is there a way to do this without involving another program?

I can't use a backup utility, because well, if I try to restore anytime recently, the same issue exists. I am completely confused as to what made this happen and how to fix it. I would rather not wipe the phone to factory defaults.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI posted this last night in the regular Sprint HTC forum, but it may be more root related and I thought those of you that frequent this forum may be better at coming up with the fix. Had to RUU back to 1.5, then re-rooted and restored back to a nandroid of ZenROM. Market has always worked fine, until after this process yesterday.I am able to search the market, it says the app will download, but never does. All my contacts are there, web works, email works, I have rebooted, restored to a different Nandroid still hangs at starting download. Googling turns up a few responses regarding British users having their gmail adresses wrong "googlemail" vs "gmail" but that isn't the issue here.One possibility.when I RUU'd back to 1.5, I MAY have accidently typed the gmail address incorrectly...(I have two that are similar except for one digit) But when I restored back to the ROM I'm using, it shows the correct address in the accounts and sync area. This is the only thing I can think of.

Should I use some backup app or just mount the 2 cards on the computer and copy all files from one card to the other? Does it matter? I am also curious how to backup the entire device prior to the 2.0 update coming. It seems like the 2.0 update will require flashing the phone. I assume it will erase everything? I wonder if sprint will provide an easy way to "upgrade" to 2.0 without losing everything on the phone.

View 3 Replies View Relatedokay so my hero gets REALLY slow when like i get texts and stuff. i mean its fine when im using my phone like on facebook and i can tell when im getting a text because my phone will start to lag and stuff so its like warning, but other times ill go take a nap and put my phone on silent and wake up and see i have like 5-10 texts and or a few missed calls and my hero will RUN SO SLOW because of all the texts and shit. its so annoying.

I have all of the sync options turned on and my phone still struggles to sync my gmail. This is getting quite frustrating. Anyone else having the same issues? View 2 Replies View RelatedLong story: Went in, got my Vibrant, immediately downloaded a few apps to play/test the device in the store. I got handcent and barcode scanner. Went home, tried rooting phone, couldn't get into the recovery menu. Gave up on rooting for the moment and tried to download launcher pro, and immediately after it started the download it gave me a "download unsuccessful" error, regardless of whether I was connected via 3G or Wifi. I then tried downloading several other apps and got the same error. Afterwords, I tried clearing the market's cache, signing in/out of Google Talk, uninstalling the apps I had originally downloaded, rebooting the phone; nothing worked (and I was unable to reinstall the apps I had managed to install in the first place, due to the same error). I then attempted a factory reset and was unable to do that, given the error "No reset was performed because the System Clear service is unavailable." After going through tech support through everything I did, they asked me to do a hard reset of the phone, which I didn't realize used the same recovery menu as one must access to root the phone. Since I couldn't get into the recovery menu for whatever reason (I blamed my fingers at the time), I was told to go back to the store to swap my phone out for a new one. Did that, repeated the app downloading process but didn't connect it to anything other than a car charger, and the app store gave me the same error, and I'm again unable to perform a factory reset or a hard reset. I know it's not my fingers, though, because I was able to get into the recovery menu of a display phone at the store.I'm going back to the store tomorrow to swap my SIM out, since tech doesn't know what else to do with it, but I was wondering if you guys had any input.Short story: First symptom was all market downloads failed with error: Download unsuccessful. Second symptom was inability to perform a factory reset or a hard reset. Possible causes/solutions?EDIT: Problem seems to have been fixed by going to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > (menu) > Filter > All > Download Manager > Clear Data. Will update if anything fails afterwards.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWife and I each have new Sprint HTC Hero. We also have a home wifi network using an older (pre-802.11n) Apple Airport Extreme base station as WDS main and an old Apple Airport Express as a WDS remote. When we're home we tend to turn on our phone's wifi.
As long as only one phone has wifi turned on, everything is fine. But within minutes of turning on wifi on the second phone as well, our wifi router starts to lose it. Apparent massive interference. After a few more minutes the router becomes catatonic, so much so that Airport Utility cannot even see the router at all.
A power cycle of the router fixes things for at most a few minutes, then it rapidly goes downhill again. Turning off the wifi on one phone (doesn't seem to matter which one) and power-cycling the router brings back perfect sanity until the next time wifi on both phones is turned on.
I have neither the time nor the energy to go through the inevitable denials and mutual finger-pointing with Apple and Sprint, but I thought I would make note of it here for the benefit of the community.
I am having problems when i recieve a photo in a text message, sometimes it will auto download but then it stops after a couple of days and i just get a message saying download unsuccessful. I have taken it in and had the phone re set but i want to know if there is another way to fix this problem from happening i am tired of loosing every thing or not getting my pics.
