The subject pretty much says it all. I don't know anyone who can receive a text message on their home phone, yet every contact I have who has a home phone has "Text Home" sitting there staring me in the face. For that matter, "Text Work" is mostly useless as well.

Older Samsung phones have a "Hidden Contacts" option, but my Samsung Moment doesn't seem to. Does anyone know how to access a hidden contacts feature on this phone? -or- Does anyone know of any good apps that will do this for the Moment? I've been searching apps for quite a while. Ideally, I'd like to have password protected contacts + text messages and either a silent ring option or the 'straight to voicemail' option already on the phone.
View 5 Replies View RelatedOn my old flip phone when i got a call or text message with ringer on i could just hit the volume rocker and it shuts it up when i don't wanna take the call or message. On the moment i don't have that option. I have to hit end button, then menu, and then slide the notification bar down to shut it up. This be kind of annoying, especially when I'm in a meeting and forget to silence my phone before hand. There's a lot of times when i can't answer my phone and would love to reach in my pocket and hit volume button once to shut it up. So i guess what I'm asking is if there is a setting for this that i'm missing, or a different button that does the same.

I just installed beautiful widgets and I have a nice clock now, but I'm wondering if there's any way to hide the notification bar. I saw in the thread where everyone posted their screens that many of them didn't have the notification bar.

In general I am thrilled with the newest Android offering for my phone, but I notice that now when I open the "Contacts" menu, my options are only to call or email that contact. In 1.6 on that same screen I had the option to Message them as well, is that something that could be wired back up? I use Handcent for messaging if that makes any difference.

View 4 Replies View RelatedNot sure if anyone else was having this issue, but if you want to get the old automated robot voicemail greeting instead of a recorded greeting, go ahead and record your main greeting and then go back into your voicemail settings and delete the greeting. It will revert to an automated greeting. Also, to get it to say your number instead of your recorded name, go into personal option under the voicemail settings and delete your recorded name, and it'll revert to just saying your number in the automated voicemail greeting.This had been bugging me ever since I got the phone since I hated recording a greeting myself and for the life of me I could not find the option for an automated greeting. Anyways, hope that helped.

Does the samsung moment have an option to lock your phone and enter a password to get in? But just to point it out again the moment can be turned off or put on airplane mode even while its locked. This may be a bad thing if someone steals your phone and you want to use someones phone to either call or text it so that it will ring to find out who has it. All the thief has to do is put it on airplane mode or turn it off to deactivate ringers, sound, and gps.
Is there an app or option where I can use a passcode to unlock the phone rather than the pattern?And is there a way to track my phone through gps just in case it's lost or stolen?Any ideas or suggestions if a device someone rely relies on a lot is lost or stolen? My friend on his moment was able to add a message on the home screen saying "If found please contact "phone number" "email" and will be given a "$300" reward.
I just got Samsung galaxy tab plus for test drive. Cool tablet but coming from Blackberry Playbook (still own it) it just kills me that the taskbar (i think this is how it is called) is always visible whether watching a movie or playing a game. My samsung is supposed to get ICS update soon and i am wondering if it has option to hide taskbar? Having it always visiblereally ruins whole experience playing games or watching movies.

I have been reading all the posts concerning battery issues and have the same problems myself. I have tried numerous tips and tricks that i have read on this forum to hopefully increase my battery life. My post today is about how to forward a text message using the moment. I upgraded from an Samsung Instict and had no problem forwarding messages using the phone; however, I do not get the option to forward when i hit the menu key when looking at a text.

I was wondering if anyone knew what this was and how I can decode it?
I did attempt to use the search feature here but didnt come up with the results I was looking for (or maybe I used it wrong?) I ask the following questions because unfortunately, I dont have good eyesight.
1. Regarding font size. I realize there is no current setting for font size on this phone (that I know of) does anyone here know if the upcoming 2.1 update will include that?
2. I know there is a text size option for the browser. However, it doesent seem to work on most websites I go to (like CNN for example) I try setting it at different sizes and nada. So far my browsing experience hasent been that good because of this (having to constantly strain my eyes looking at website text) Any tips on why the text size option doesent seem to work?
3. is there anyway to increase the text size of emails and text messages?
I want to transfer my contacts from my old Samsung Instinct to the Moment, how do I do this? Also if you guys know how to get my contacts from Sprint.com that would be great also.

I can see in my text messaging that im automatically becomes I'm, which is great. But it doesn't do this in any other applications (only in text messages).
Furthermore, i want to add items to the autoreplace list, such as my name (capitalizing the first letter automatically), and other changes that i used to have on my Sidekick 3 (itss -> it's, smoment -> Samsung Moment, and probably many others i would think of over the months).
Is there an app i need to download? I want this feature enabled on every part of my phone, not just text messages.
In Gmail I have my contacts sorted by groups, easy enough, on occasion I need to add a new group or move a contact from one group to another, which is easy enough using a pc and my Gmail account. However, I cannot seem to add new groups or edit existing groups on my Moment. I can see the groups, I can sort by groups, but I cannot find an option that will allow me to add or edit any groups. Does anyone know how this is done on the Moment? I suppose I could use the browser to log on to my Gmail account and change it from there but isnt that sort of redundant since I am on my Gmail account using the Moment? Also, maybe someone knows when Moment contacts sync with my Gmail why dont the contact photos sync? One more thing, anyone ever on a call and it goes dead and after a few seconds the phone rings with unknown in the caller ID. When answer it is some from my address book that should have appeared in my caller ID Anyway, now I have to quickly hang up on this person to call the person my phone hung up on to receive this call. Its like the call waiting gets disengaged and hangs up the present call to allow the new incoming. I also had this problem on a HTC Hero I had before I got the Moment also.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI downloaded and installed the Lock 2.0 free trial program. Upon install, when I clicked on the "Home" button on my Samsung Moment, a pop appeared with 3 choices:
Complete Action Using:
1) Home (go to home)
2) Lock icon (meaning to lock the phone) - also with a warning - do not use this as default - you had (sic) been warned.
3) a checkbox to use either choice 1 or 2 as the default always.
This made me curious. First of all if I accidentally remapped the Home button the Lock app, how would I be able to remap it to the default "Home" action? Looked in settings and do not see how I can remap Home button. I don't like how a 3rd part app can intercept the Home button and yet I can't figure out how to undo the damage if I accidentally remapped the Home button to the 3rd party app. Anyone here know if this is possible to restore the Home button if you mess up and a 3rd party app maps it by default?
