Sprint HTC Hero :: Expanding Micro SD Storage ?

Apr 21, 2010

Looking at greatly expanding my SD storage. It is clear that the Sprint Hero requires an SD device that meets the SD 2.0 specification. That is a given.

The question I have is about SD speed (class) and size (up to 32GB max).

I am wondering if there is noticable speed difference between Class 2 and Class 6 cards on internal or external transfers? Where do we see any difference? Internal - such as photo or file transfers between folders on the card? External - file transfers to and from the SD card set up as a USB device?

Then the possible variable (if it is) of card size? I am still running the stock 2GB card that came with my Hero. I want to go to 16GB. Does "size matter"? ---

Anybody run any experiments to measure speed and function? Photos, files, etc?

Sprint HTC Hero :: Expanding Weather Database

May 1, 2010

The Hero's native weather widget contains a pretty limited number of cities. On my old WinMo phone, there was a way to expand the database of cities by modifying some Manila files. Is there a similar course of action for Android phones? I perused the files on the Hero (ROM and SD) but didn't see any obvious candidates to change.

General :: Expanding Internal Storage Onto External / SDCard?

May 8, 2013

I finally upgraded to android, i got the cheapest phone possible(kyocera milano) which seems to be a mistake. The phone has only about 300mb internal storage and can barely handle its own updates(because of the limited storage). so i would like to know if its possible to make the phone "think" that some of the sd card is part of its internal memory? I found an adb driver for it(dont ask me where or which one because i had no idea and started messing with one until it worked) i have not tried rooting but can if i need to.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Way To Copy Files From Micro SD Card Onto PC Desktop / Macbook?

Nov 8, 2009

I've checked related posts and this question specifically pertains to the HTC Hero Sprint CDMA phone. Before connecting my phone to my PC desktop computer, I want to verify if this is the correct method: Question May simply connect my USB cable from my HTC Hero into my USB drive into my PC desktop? Will this pop-up the files, directly, etc? May I simply Copy/Paste the file(s) (pictures, etc.) into a file on my PC desktop hard drive? Is there simply a folder with my Micro-SD card files? Are there any other folders of files, etc. that may be on my phone which may be copied as well (i.e., Apps, etc.)? It's interesting to note that if an iPhone or iPod Touch is ever lost or misplaced, everything is backed up on iTunes on an external device. I suppose if I lose my phone, I'll have to start over. Correct? Or is there a way to backup Scenes, downloaded apps, customizations, etc.?

Jelly Bean :: Cannot Switch From Internal Storage To SD Micro Card

Nov 28, 2013

I have an Android D2-912 pad which I use mostly for reading. All my books are stored in the internal storage of the tablet ( 1.2 GB) which is almost full. For this reason , I needed additional space and bought a 16 GB class 10 Lexar Micro Card .The card works pretty well from my PC. The problem is that when the external SD card is in the slot of the D2, neither the internal storage content of the D2 pad nor the SD card show in My Computer, only the empty D2 icon, ,so that I cannot transfer the files. Onjly if I remove the SD card from the slot, then the full internal storage contents of the D2 pops up again, which doesn't work because for the file transfer I need both. .The mounted SD card and its contents, though, show nicely in the Settings/Storage tab of my D2, but even so I cannot do any file transfer .This inability to see the SD card also affects my attempts to expand the RAM with the Roehsoft Swap Ram expander, It works well, except that it does not see the SD card and takes the space for the virtual expansion from the internal storage, which is practically full, so that the expansion is minimal. .

Sprint HTC Hero :: Contact Storage / Facebook Sync Related

Aug 9, 2010

I need some serious help. Ever since Facebook released its newest version my contact storage has sky rocketed. i only have 137 contacts, i orginally had all my facebook contacts synced, after the update they remained in the contact list but i lost the ability to view the contact picture or link it to a contact. i set the app to sync only phone contacts yet it keeps adding duplicate contacts and contact information. for example i have some contacts that now have 8 to 10 entries or i will have one contact their information like organization or email have multiple entries. ive cleared the data several times and even set it not to sync and it seems to continue to happen. is anyone having these issues or knows of a work around? at this point im relegated to hard reset and start from scratch? my phone isn't rooted but im willing to root if their is a work around that way?

Sprint HTC Hero :: Cannot Sync - Lost Ext Storage - Reformat - Got Low On Space

May 14, 2010

As of yesterday i cannot sync to gmail AT ALL here's how (i think) this whole affair started

My phone was reacting SLOW one day a couple weeks ago, so i popped the battery

well, the ph must have been in the middle of writing/reading to the ext mem card because when it came back up there was an icon in the notification bar indicating the card was damaged and needed to be reformatted

So, eventually i got around to formatting it but not long after, i got another icon in the notification area indicating i was getting low on storage space now, my email has stopped syncing i've got two gmail accts - and neither of them are working since yesterday around noon

This is a problem people!

I've tried to do a forced sync - i've tried soft resets

I've cleared the gmail storage cache - all i see is "your email will appear shortly"

Well... we're past "shortly" now and i'm getting concerned - thus, the post to phandroid here

I'm running the leaked 2.1RUU

General :: Using Micro SDHC Cards In Tablet Micro SD Media Slot

Apr 17, 2013

Most of the specs for tablets which have a micro SD media slot do not give any details about it. I'm generally wondering if a slot labelled "microSD" will accept a micro SDHC card (as opposed to a micro SD card). I know, for example, that some older memory card readers won't read the SDHC cards, even if they have an SD slot. I'm not sure about the tablets however.

Example of some of the tablets that I'd be interested in knowing this about are: Acer Iconia A700 or A210, and Toshiba Excite.

I was wondering if there is a way to directly save them to my micro SD card, instead of the internal memory? One of my friends, who also had a Hero, had too many text messages and her message app wouldn't open and kept crashing. I don't really want this to happen to my phone.

When I was thinking up the design for the app it seemed like a simple task like that would be, well, simple. But I come to find out that the StatusBarManager is not part of the public API? I can now not add functionality to an app that is clearly available just not in the public api. Is there another abstract way of expanding the status bar?

Android :: ListView Is Not Expanding As Intended

Sep 9, 2010

My scenario is like this:

CODE:........

The problem I have is that I can't get my ListView to get the right height that I want. I'll add a couple of components with my custom BaseAdapter class and everything there works as intended. But when i then debug my application i can only see 1,5 out of 3 components in the list and the rest is hidden futher down in the ListView. But how can i make my ListView calculate how many components i have and get it to show all my components direcly without having too scroll down.

Another thought is if i could populate any other kind of View with my BaseAdapter? Because the only reason I'am using ListView is because of the setAdapter() method.
