HTC Hero :: Cannot Establish Reliable Data Connection To Server
Oct 8, 2010I have a question regarding my new HTC Hero. I bought an unlocked one and are currently using it with Tmobile. My internet works but I am unable to go to the market to get applications. Does anyone know what to do? I already called and spoke to TMobile but they were unable to help me. The message I get is: Can't establish reliable data connection to server.

Sep 9, 2010I have a Samsung i7500 (Galaxy).Originally, it had Android 1.5 installed, but I could not enter the Google Market with my google account and got this message: "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server".I read here and across the web I should Factory-reset my phone, but it did not work.So I upgraded the firmware to Android 2.1 using this guide: How to Mustymod It worked, and now the phone had Android 2.1 installed, but I still cannot access the Google Market with my Google account. This time I did a factory-reset (Settings -> Privacy -> Factory reset) and also followed this guide to delete the provider-settings (eventually I removed the whole /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/ directory and not only that file.

Jun 12, 2014I use an LG Optimus L4 II (e445). I rooted it but then decided I had too much on it and decided to restore to factory settings. It all worked fine. However, when I got to the Google Account sign in page, it gave me the "couldn't establish a reliable connection to the server" error message. I followed every single tutorial I could find online as to how to solve this. None of them worked. Eventually, I re-rooted it (using VRoot) and managed to download an apk of ES file explorer and locate the hosts file. This had one line that shouldn't have been there:

From what I can make out, this is the address of google's sign in servers. So somehow (I suspect malware/dodgy rooting program?) my hosts file has been edited to stop me logging into google. Restoring the device does nothing, neither does unrooting/rerooting. When I open up the file in ES (when rooted) and edit out the bad lines, I can't save for some reason- I think the /system folder is write protected.
So I tried to make the /system folder writeable. I used the android sdk to do this (mount -o command) but this did not do anything. I downloaded the mount /system apk and installed that, it did not work either. I tried /pull and /push on the hosts file to edit it and send it back using the apk. I could successfully pull and edit it, but it would not let me push it back. I can effectively not use my phone- I can't use most apps and can't download any.

Nov 18, 2010I'm just trying to work through my phone after updating to 2.1, it's like having a new phone and starting all over again! On the new 2.1 if you got to Settings, Wireless and Network, Mobile Networks....the top two are "Data Roaming" and "Date Traffic". Is DATA TRAFFIC equivalent to the Internet/MMS application on 1.6? If I click Yes to Data Traffic it warns me that "addtional charges may apply....." etc etc. I didn't get that warning on 1.6? Is this just the standard internet connection?

Apr 22, 2010I've been trying to connect the Xperia x10 that I received yesterday to T-Mobile data network but no joy. Everything else works ok except for the t-mobile data connection. I have tried everything, setting apn manually - even have reset the phone etc. In the mobile networks menu the Auto Internet Settings option is grayed out. This is a French phone that I got from Expanses US internet vendor. The manual is in French and its got a french wall plug. I had no clue I was buying an import as the web cite does not specify that it is an import and in the discussion with salesman it was never mentioned that it was an import but he assured me it had a us warranty and was able to connect 3g to t-mobile therefore I assumed it was a US phone. Sony Ericsson tells me this phone is not yet released in US.

Dec 5, 2013I am on the Nexus 5.I have already looked up about this problem online, but the fixes for this seems to be either a hard reset, a factory reset, or the YouTube trick, where one signs into their gmail through YouTube and fixes this issue.
I have attempted all three of these things, but I still can't add my gmail account. The "Can't connect to server" message still pops, even when trying to sign in through the YouTube app.

Aug 29, 2010Is anyone else having trouble staying connected to "Wi-Fi"? I am having 3 problems:
#1: For some reason, my phone will show the connection and 10-15 minutes later, the connection is gone. Nothing changed, the router is like 2-4 feet away and it is a "G" router.
#2: The other problem I am having with the Wi-Fi is the indicator will drop off of the notification bar, but when I go to the settings, the Wi-Fi is highlighted like it is connected, but there is NO connection stated under the Wi-Fi setting.
#3: The Wi-Fi will drop off of the notification bar and when I go to the settings the Wi-Fi indicator is highlighted indicating active, but again, nothing under the Wi-Fi stating what the connection is. So I choose the same connection it has been using and I connection will state it is out of range, when in fact it is 2-4 feet away, again, nothing changed. So I reset the router and it will try to obtain a connection, but says it is unsuccessful, however, the network states under the name that it is "Remembered". So I highlight the network and than I get a Disconnect. This is really becoming an irratating issue! It worked fine first 2 days and than bam, starts to go crazy. So is anyone else experiencing this issue?

My sync wont work with sony soft ware due to email not existing to a current account or pass word is wrong, Niether are due to I can log in via my pc no problems
My second new issue since the so called up date is my wifi keep looseing it connection and unable to connect again even though the passwords not change and the single strength still the same.

Apr 8, 2010Have finally received my X10 and must say am very impressed with it on the whole.Am finding it fast and responsive but do get the occassional need to tap the selection again and have also experienced the 'a' issue with the keyboard.
Have got a few questions which hopefully you guys can help with as Android is all new to me having come from Windows Mobile:
*Is there a way to disable the GPRS connection as it seems to be continuously connected or is this normal with Android?
*Do you guys know of a GPRS data app that can monitor my internet usage?
*Am going to purchase 'Betterkeyboard' from the Marketplace but if I was to factory reset the handset would I be able to download the app without paying again.
still scratching the surface of Android and the X10 so haven't come across the common complaints yet e.g. low sound both incall and ring tone...
