View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Xperia X10, great phone ! but some issues.
1) It seems to use loads of data even when i am not actively using the phone, and i have disabled google's background data setting. I would stop using the phone with the 3g connection on and my NetCounter app would say 2,5mb used , i would sleep and wake up and it would note 23mb used for instance. Does this phone send background info to SE and Google over and above what we can control in the settings. As i live in South Africa , our internet browsing cost are high even via 3G and this seems extreme. What should a average user be using in a month? ( ?MB)
2) The next issue blows my mind. Due to the fact that i used to have a SE p910i and it did connect with ease. The Experia seems unable to connect to the internet via the USB cable. It does connect to the PC to trf. files and music , photos etc , and it can use the internet via PC (connected to LAN) to do an update. Yet with my phone connected to PC i cannot simply use LAN through PC to browse on the phone. I know the phone is aimed at mobile connectivity via 2/3G and WiFi, i get that. But if my phone is connected to my PC most days when i am in the office ( it charges like this obviously) then why am i forced to use 3G or wifi, it seems odd that such an "amazing" phone in constrained like this. So if i want to browse the Android Market while connected to PC i am forced to use 3G or connect to a wifi network to do this , thus having to pay for data , that would otherwise be accessed if i could get access to the LAN.
Please can someone explain why an advanced handset, "smart" phone cant seem to do , what most handsets prior to these fancy touch screens could do. I mean i had a Samsung Omnia and decided to go back to SE, the Omnia could share its internet connection with my PC and it could also connect to the internet via the USB ( access LAN via PC)
SE dont you think it is embaressing that clients have to bring up issues like this. For all that android is , it seems more limiting in my experience so far , having used the X10 for 3 months.
SE please suprise me with some options or at least news of an update that can remedy what i would call an embarassing oversight. I think the Windows OS phones do this in their sleep.
I recently got an x10. I want to connect to this wireless network but it requires both username and password log in information. I can't seem to find a way to adjust my wireless settings so that it will allow me to enter the information. It only lets me enter password information. I know it requires both because I have connected to it on my computer. I know that there are other networks available, but there is reason that I want to use this one.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo, There is an issue with my X10. We have a secure (password protected) wireless network at home which is hidden. Now the weird thing is that the x10 doesn't connect to it. When I get a new wireless device, I get the MAC address of the device, and copy it into the wireless manager, so that it's allowed to access the network. Then, i register the same MAC address into the list of machines on the network. Then I set the network to broadcast the SSID, it's still protected, but now everyone can see that it's there. Afterward, I plug the password into the device, and it's connected. Lastly, I stop broadcasting of the SSID, but the machine that was recently added now recognises the network, even though it's hidden. Even after the device has been disconnected, it will still see the network, and be able to connect to it. The weird thing, is that I have done this for all of the wireless devices, even the X10. Everything is fine, until I make the network hidden again. Then, even though the network is saved, it says "out of range".this has only happened with the X10. Does anyone have any insight as to what the problem may be?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI purchased Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray, with OS Android 2.3.3. I tried connect to my Wi-Fi network, but no success.
My network is with a password, and i entered it correctly, i checked twice before typing the pass... The device showing that is trying access the network, but after some sec. the connection is failed. I tried reset the router, but it still failed... I dont have any other wifi connections in my range so i cant check for another wifi connection.
I've bought a Xperia X10 a few weeks ago with great expectations, but it lasted with a huge disappointment! Whatever I guess I have to wait for 2.1 update but I am not sure it will satisfy anybody. As I wrote in title there are some serious and annoying problems, I cant sign in my twitter account on the phone because of login and connection problem (however I didnt get any problems at signing in Facebook and Gmail accounts).
Second problem is "missing" Android Market application on the phone. Anyway I found the official .apk (vending.apk) from the net and loaded to my phone but it didnt work and caused freezing and error messages as "not responding / force to close" etc. Also I cant reach to Market site from Browser, no way!
The last and stupid problem is "reseting and deleting" Browser setting and bookmarks without any reason or action like hardreset or even turn on/off the phone! As an example: I set homepage as google.com and later on I checked ok! but for the second use after a couple of time, when I started the browser it opens with SE Wap Page as default and removed my homepage from settings. Also phone deletes the Bookmarks which I add.
I put a new SD card in my phone, and when I connected it to my laptop via USB, it started making a very high pitched, annoying, noise....it continued until the drivers had installed, then it stopped instantly.

View 1 Replies View RelatedCan you make a sticky thread please on this subject and include a step by step guide and maybe the link to SE's blog and video on how to... So many users are really struggling with this, and its all possible as long as you get the set up right. People don't seem to see your yellow asterisk and it also doesn't give a huge amount of info. Coming from dumb phones where you just pressed the button this whole new way of doing things is a bit perplexing when you start out.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI bought a Xperia x10 mini on friday, and I am happy with it so far, but I previously had a W595. I have bluetooth connectivity in my car, and once bonded with the phone, this would connect to the W595 everytime I started the car automatically. Now however with the X10 mini, I have to scroll through the settings to bluetooth controls and find the ford audio paring and connect it manually. Can this automatically connect on the car start up as the W595 used to? It isn't practical for on the start of every journey I need to spend a few mins looking through the phone to connect it up.
